Its been just 6 months since I have started as a developer in ASP.net with little formal education on asp.net as I am an electrical engineer. So please understand that I am still learning. Please help me with the following issue.
I have a thin client and I already developed a web application which sends query through serial port. I currently have 2 hurdles
1) I would like to read data from serial port every 2 sec
Currently I used timer to read data every 2 sec but the problem I am currently facing is that I have used application object to store the serial port instant, otherwise it is impossible for multiple users to access the web app/serial port simultaneously. The scenario is that if 2 or more users use serial port simultaneously, there are more than 1 query every 2 sec i.e for 10 users there are virtually 10 queries every 2 sec from each session. This is potentially causing error in my application.
2) I would like to provide a web API for the Thin Client so that I can host the web app, web service(to use serial port) on the same thin client and I would like to use the webservice from both web app and windows app keeping the 2 sec timer intact.
I really baffled by how could i acheive this. I assume more than technicality it requires some logic. Please help me out on solving this issue.
