IIS Crash with Faulting application w3wp.exe, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.42

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework
The scenario is that, a .Net Webservice is making calls to C++ DLL (made from VC6 studio) This app works perfectly well for sometimes or over a period or for a high volume of hits and suddenly you see IIS crash along with service crash with the following error "Faulting application w3wp.exe, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.42" There is no pattern for this problem. The work around is to restart the IIS.    Can anybody tell me what could be the issue here?

Faulting application , version ,faulting module kernel32.dll

Hi, I have one windows application built using C# and .net framework 2.0 and its installed on Windows Server 2003.

I have tested application on my machine and it works perfectly on my machine. Only difference between two machines is that, my machine has Windows Vista OS and machine on which error occured has Windows Server 2003 OS.

When I start application, it works correctly for some time but then gives one error as

Faulting application , version ,faulting module kernel32.dll,version 5.2.3790.4480, stamp , debug? 0. fault address 0x000bef7.

Source : .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Category : None Event ID : 1000

Does anyone knows why this error is coming? I googled for this error but most of the solutions were for either explorer.exe or internet explorer.

Thanks and Regards, Chandrashekhar

Hi all Firstly let me start by saying I am not a developer/.net/xbap or any other type of programmer so please excuse my ignorance to anything related. I have an application installed on a w2k3 std 32bit SP2 server with terminal services and Citrix Presentation Server 4.5. This applicaiton accesses the vendors website over the internet through a .xbap page. When accessing this .xbap approximately half the users get "Internet Explorer Cannot Display This Webpage" while the other half have no issue at all. The version of IE is v7.0.5730.13. When IE returns "Internet Explorer Cannot Display This Webpage" the following error is logged in the application log: Event Type: Error Event Source: Application Error Event Category: (100) Event ID: 1000 Date:  9/10/2010 Time:  11:28:27 AM User:  N/A Computer: <server> Description: Faulting application PresentationHost.exe, version 3.0.6920.1427, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.2.3790.3959, fault address 0x0000bee7. HELP -- faulting module KERNEL32.dll error

Hi Guys We have a windows service written in c# .net 3.5 (visual studio 2008). This service calls an exe - UIConsole.exe UIConsole.exe processes files dropped in a shared location. Everything was working fine until a couple of weeks ago when we did a release to production and things stopped working. The odd thing is we didn't make any changes to either the service or the exe - but to the web project which resides in the same solution. What's even more crazy is that in dev and QA everything works fine but in prod it's giving the stupid error (below). Can someone help? The following error is generated: Faulting application UIConsole.exe, version, time stamp 0x4c912e62, faulting module KERNEL32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a76d, exception code 0xe0434f4d, fault offset 0x000442eb, process id 0x%9, application start time 0x%10 Can someone please help? This is in Windows server 2008 envt. The service is running under an account that is in the ADMIN group and both the folder where the exe lives and the folder where the files to process live have full permissions to admin. A couple of other side notes: I have stopped all services related to Symantec and also Windows firewall is turned off. Thanks DDV

Application crash caused by mscorwks

I've been trying to debug an issue that crashes my application.

The issue is: faulting module name: mscorwks.dll, version: 2.0.50727.4927, time stamp:0x4a275a68.

The application is a 32-bit VB6 executable and calls some c# (.net 2.0) classes through COM interop.  The c# code makes uses a asynchronous delegates in a few locations.  The crash cannot systematically be reproduced, but will happen from time to time.

I've tried debugging the application with WinDbg but am not getting anywhere.  Some help would be appreciated.

Here's the exception and call stack retrieved while debugging with WinDbg:

(15e8.10d0): Unknown exception - code c000008f (first chance)
(15e8.1258): Access violation - code c0000005 (first chance)
First chance exceptions are reported before any exception handling.
This exception may be expected and handled.

Visual C++ 6.0: Don't Let Memory Allocation Failures Crash Your Legacy STL Application

Most C++ developers make extensive use of the Standard Template Library (STL) in their code. If you are one of them and are using STL and Visual C++ 6.0 directly out of the box, your application is at high risk of crashing under low memory conditions. The problem arises because checking for failure of operator new is such an uncommon practice. To make things worse, when new does fail, the response is not standard. Some language compilers return NULL while others throw an exception. In addition, if you are using STL in an MFC project, be aware that MFC has its own set of rules. This article discusses these problems, explains how the default behavior has changed in Visual C++ .NET 2003, and outlines the changes you must make if you're using Visual C++ 6.0 so that you can safely use the STL when operator new fails.

"Mixed mode assembly is built against version 'v2.0.50727'.... " issue and use custom config file

Hi, My Winform applilcation has used Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common namespace(assembly :Microsoft.Sqlserver.smo.dll/Microsoft.Sqlserver.ConnectionInfo.dll) and developed in .NET 4.0. Problem:Application is throw an exception when it tries to use above assembly reference methods. Full error text is shown below, "Mixed mode assembly is built against version 'v2.0.50727' of the runtime and cannot be loaded in the 4.0 runtime without additional configuration information. Sporadic .NET application crash with "Fatal Execution Engine Error"

I have a .NET application that runs for several hours.  It is a multi-threaded app that does some calculations and saves the results to the database.   On one machine in particular, it has been crashing recently with the following exception recorded in the Event Log: .NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.4206 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (6C9D7B6E) (80131506) Faulting application AnalyzerConsole.exe, version, time stamp 0x4c76d28b, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.4206, time stamp 0x4bf4c6a7, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0011627d, process id 0x%9, application start time 0x%10. Sometimes it runs for hours without crashing, but usually it will crash eventually. Mixed mode assembly is built against version 'v2.0.50727' of the runtime and cannot be loaded in t

First, yes I've read every article I can find including this one: http://msmvps.com/blogs/rfennell/archive/2010/03/27/mixed-mode-assembly-is-built-against-version-v2-0-50727-error-using-net-4-development-web-server.aspx Of course it's for web server stuff, but I found this in my config file and added it. However, my problem now is that if I build in release mode I get a hard error in the error list telling me the same thing, even though it runs fine in debug and has the information in my app.config file. The really anoying part is that the error doesn't tell you WHICH assembly is the offending one. Anyone have any ideas?

mscorwks.dll causes Windows-Service crash

Hello Our Windows-Service application crashed 3 times the last 4 months in different intervals. EventLog says: server.exe, version, stamp 4bd6ecf0, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.3603, stamp 4a7cd88e, debug? 0, fault address 0x0010969f.For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. There is no more information about the crash than this EventLog entry. Windows-Service is stopped, resp. the process isn't running any more. OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 .Net Framework: 3.5 SP1 Windows-Service logs on with specific account Is there a possibility to obtain the source code line out of the stamp address provided in the EventLog message? Any clues how to get more details about past and forthcoming crashes? Thanks for help!
