I am using VWD 2010 to make a simple website with a form that collects data and sticks it in a table. It works great locally. When we created the db in VWD 2010 it made a SQL CE database file. My server where we will deploy this is running SQL 2008.
I wanted to create the db in VWD as a sql 2008 db, but it wouldn't let me.
So now that I have a working SQL CE db, I think I need to create a new DB on my server, and then change the connection strings and hopefully that will work.
On my local machine, I can launch Management Studio (sql 2008 - vs 10.0.16), and can see SQL 2008 db stuff, and can create a new db. But I cannot see the SQL CE db that VWD created - when I launch management studio, and try to connect to SQL CE, it says it is not installed or corrupt.
My plan was to get into management studio (locally) and create a script of the CE db, and then go to the server and run the script to create the db, then I was going to work on the connection string.
Shouldn't I be able to connect management studio to SQL CE?
Is there an easy way to deploy a vwd 2010 site using CE to a server running SQL 2008?
Obviously I am new to all of this.
