Build Deployment Package Fails with new WebApp

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 14, 2011    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

So I have been trying to use the new Build Deployment Package feature in Visual Studio 2010 and even though my website compiles without any errors the Publish fails every time.  So I decided to just create a basic new WebApplication, not make any changes and see if I could publish it and it still fails.  Is there something in the setup I'm missing?

SMTP not working if I use web deployment package to deploy my app.

Hi all

I use msdeploy to install my web app. deployment package. everything about web app works, but find out email was not working.

I checked telnet smtp is running.

I debug the project, and it was sending out email too.

So my solution was upload the whole project (not complied) to wwwroot, and email works too. Thats why I assume the deployment cause the problem.

at last, I also tried to copy the web deployment web.config to replace the project's web.config, and the email also work, so it wasn't the web.config problem.

Could anyone tell me whats going on?

ClickOnce deployment fails if .NET Framework isn't installed

Hi,   I have noticed that installation of my application fails in some cases. If the user has .NET Framework installed the installation works. But if it's not installed then Click Once will install it, after asking the user to accept the EULA, installation will complete and the "Install"/"Don't install"-dialog appears. My application is downloaded and then fails with the error message:     Following errors were detected during this operation. * [2010-09-01 15:22:17] System.Deployment.Application.InvalidDeploymentException (ManifestLoad) - Exception occurred loading manifest from file Stoffi.exe: the manifest may not be valid or the file could not be opened. - Source: System.Deployment - Stack trace: at System.Deployment.Application.Manifest.AssemblyManifest.ManifestLoadExceptionHelper(Exception exception, String filePath) at System.Deployment.Application.Manifest.AssemblyManifest.LoadFromInternalManifestFile(String filePath) at System.Deployment.Application.Manifest.AssemblyManifest..ctor(String filePath) at System.Deployment.Application.DownloadManager.ProcessDownloadedFile(Object sender, DownloadEventArgs e) at System.Deployment.Application.FileDownloader.DownloadModifiedEventHandler.Invoke(Object sender, DownloadEventArgs e) at System.Deployment.Application.FileDownloader.OnModified() at System.Deployment.A

Lookup Task fails in a package when executed as a child but not when executed as a parent

Hi,  I have lose 2 days trying to understanf the following error:  I have a master package with several child ones. When I execute the master one of the child packages suffers an error in a Data Flow Task when executing a Loojup component: [SSIS.Pipeline] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PROCESSINPUTFAILED.  The ProcessInput method on component "Retrieve Activity" (894) failed with error code 0x80070057 while processing input "Lookup Input" (895).  The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running.  There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure.  The same child package where the error appears contains other lookup tasks that are executed properly.  Surprisingly when the child package is executed alone the error does not appear and the package executes properly.  I have lost 2 days comparing the tasks with other ones and checking properties and I haven't found the clue. I have found in the forum a similar post with a related problem but I don't know how to fix  my problem http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlintegrationservices/thread/3425381c-267e-4700-afbb-f1faf6a81fdd.     If someones has any idea it will

Unable to build connection string using Package Level variables from the AcquireConnection fonction

Hi all! In SSIS 2008, within a script component trying to refer to a package level variables that was added to the ReadOnlyVariables collection of the component, the following fails within the AcquireConnnection function and I get this error: Error 1 Validation error. Test1: Test1: Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.ReadOnlyVariablesNotAvailableException: The collection of variables locked for read access is not available at this point.     à Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.ScriptComponentHost.HandleUserException(Exception e)     à Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.ScriptComponentHost.AcquireConnections(Object transaction)     à Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.ManagedComponentHost.HostAcquireConnections(IDTSManagedComponentWrapper100 wrapper, Object transaction)   string connectionString = "DSN=" + this.Variables.MYDSN; Conn = new OdbcConnection(connectionString); Conn.Open();     If I move the previous code in the PreExecute function, it runs fine though.   Then, if I move the connectionString variable to the class definition, and populate it from within the PreExecute function and leave the last 2 lines in the AcquireConnection function, I get the following error: Error 1 Validation error. Test1: Test1: System.InvalidOperationException: The ConnectionString property

SSIS package fails under SQL Server Agent job

Hi All

I have designed a SSIS package to encrypt a file using Cipher (EFS) it works fine from BIDS & Package Execution Utility.

But SQL Server Agent job is failing to do this. I am getting the error as

" In executing C:\Windows\System32\Cipher.exe /e /a C:\Test.txt at "",The Process Exit code was 1 while the expected was 0."

cube deployment fails- A duplicate attribute key has been found when processing

I am trying to create a cube using the same process that I always do. however this time I get an error message "Warning 4 Errors in the OLAP storage engine: A duplicate attribute key has been found when processing: Table: 'dbo_ALL_ResultsNewest', Column: 'MktCapGroup', Value: ''. The attribute is 'Mkt Cap Group'.  0 0
This is using alot of data but I have created similar size cubes before. I create simple cubes with a single dimension and all the attributes related to a single master attribute. I am a data analyst, not a technologist and don;t have any real understanding of cube internals beyond the basics.

ETL package runs locally but fails on server

I am working on an ETL package which reads the data from text file, validates the data and puts it in relevant tables of the DB.

It was working fine until recently I had to make some changes in it. When run the package on local environment, everything worked fine.

When I uploaded the package on server and started testing it, it gave me error. I am passing information like ConnectionString, filepath through user variables. The package is executed by a windows service on server which passes these parameters to the package.

I double checked to see if the values in config file of the windows service are correct but unable to find what is wrong.

Can any one please give me a hint on this?

Error occurred in deployment step 'Retract Solution': The language-neutral solution package was no

I've got the same error as those who opened this thread, but I'm looking for the cause of this error rather than deleting the solution file from SP2010 Server over and over again.

I was developing and deploying with VS2010 and SP2010 Enterprise Edition just fine for over three month now and out of nothing this error pops up again and again for the same solution. I can't tell what I've changed or which software I might have installed in the meantime, so I can't give any hints what causes the errormessage. Which might be interesting: I installed my SP2010 Enterprise Edition in english and installed the german language pack afterwards. Kind regards, Andreas

Solution deployment fails using powershell

I am using a powershell script to redeploy our solution and immediatelly afterwards create a site collection.

Unfortunatelly, most of the times, the deployment script either FAILS with an ERROR, or just DOES NOT UPDATE the content that should be replaced(we experience both mis-replace of the content in the 14-th hive and the code from our assemblies).

When the script passes we left "mouth-open", when our QA complains the functionallity is not bettered - and we realise that the script has not done the work, though passed!

When the error occurred I get is "Access to the path "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\<ourSolutionPackageName>\js\<ourJavaScriptFile>.js" is denied". I also got with other than javascript files on other locations in the 14-th.

In our environment we use the RTM SharePoint Server 2010.

I use the following sequence of cmd-lets:

$global:ErrorActionPreference = "Stop"
Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.Powershell
#Here, I delete site collections and content databases(If needed I'll show that code also)
$webApplication = Get-SPWebApplication $WebAppUrl
$appPoolName = $webApplication.ApplicationPool.Name
.$env:SystemRoot\System32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe recycle apppo

Website build fails

I have erros building saying type or namespace <mynamespace> could not be found. I can find that namespace in the business layer code and also its included. its a website application. for web apps, such errors I have solved by building layer wise. But with website apps that option does not seem to be there. Please help.

SSIS package fails in agent job (but actually succeeds)

SQL Server 2008 SSIS 32-bit using Oracle 11g 32 bit client to connect to Oracle 10gR2

The job actually runs and populates the destination tables correctly, but for some reason the agent reports the job as failing.  there is only one step (the SSIS package itself).

The package execution returned DTSER_SUCCESS (0).  The return value was unknown.  The process exit code was -1073741819.  The step failed.

There are many other packages that are built more or less the same that do not throw an error but for some reason this one does.

I know this isnt a lot of information - mostly hoping for tips on what steps I can take to narrow in on the problem.

I've run the package directly from Integration Services on the server as well as from BIDS on my desktop and it succeeds.

SSIS Package fails with Execute Process Task when run from SQL Agent Job

I have an SSIS 2008 package running on Win 2008 64-bit server. The package has an Execute Process Task that runs a net use command using cmd.exe to make a connection.

This runs successfully when tested from the command prompt and runs successfully when the package is run in Visual Studio 2008. However, when the package is called from a SQLAgent job the package fails with the error (actual servernames and passwords removed):

Failing Task Name = EPT Connect mapped drive Error Code = -1073573551 Error Detail = In Executing "C:\WINNT\system32\cmd.exe" "/C net use
\\servername\foldername /USER:userid password" at "", The process exit code was "1" while the expected was "0".

I have determined that a successfull connection should provide a exit code of 0.

The job runs under a proxy account but as explained when the package has run from within VS 2008 it was also tested to run under the proxy account and is successful.

It is not a 64-bit issue as I have tested it by running the package using the 32-bit version of dtexec.exe and the same problem occurs.

Also I have found that by running a simple command process within the Execute Process Task such as dir *.* it is successful when run from the job indicating that it is in fact something related to the net use command itself when run from

SSIS package which reads excel files fails on SQL Server Agent

I have a SSIS package which reads an excel file and loads data into a table using script component(C#) as a source. The package runs without any errors when I manually run it on my machine and on the server. But the package fails when run as a SQL Server Agent job.

I tried all the possible fixes I found on the web but still can't get it to work.

Could you shed some light on it?

Programmatically creating a package with a SAP .NET data provider: AcquireConnections fails

I'm trying to programmatically alter a package which uses a SAP .NET connector. When configuring and running the package from BIDS everything goes well. But when i try to call the AcquireConnections(vbNull) method from code , the following exception is thrown:

Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'System.Transactions.IDtcTransaction'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{0FB15084-AF41-11CE-BD2B-204C4F4F5020}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).

I've used the following code:
