Redirecting to Account/Login on RedirectToAction

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 14, 2011    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have a form that when submitted successfully is supposed to redirect to anotherview which is just a thank you page.

I am using;

                if (success)
                    return RedirectToAction("Thankyou", "Leads");
                    return View("Index");
I have an action i my LeadsController called Thankyou and when i debug my project i am defiantely getting to

 return RedirectToAction("Thankyou", "Leads"); but instead of going to the page /Leads/Thankyou (which i can get to if i put this directly in the URL) i keep getting redirected to /account/login?action=Thankyou&controller=Leads instead?

Any ideas?

This is my thank you action;
[HttpGet] public ActionResult Thankyou() { return View(); }

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user . Reason: The account is disable

Hi All,

Thank you for advance.

I created a widows service for mail schedule with c#.net and sql server 2005 and it is working fine for past one year.

now sometimes i am getting the "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user '<UserName>'. Reason: The account is disabled." error.

then i restarted the windows service manually and working.

what is the problem in my sql server connection and how to fix that issue?

I want 404 instead of redirecting to login page

I have implemented the standard Login control and everything works fine.However when i enter an invalid URL it gets redirected to the Login page.e.g. http://www.mywebsite.com/xxx gives a 404but http://www.mywebsite.com/xxx.aspx causes a redirect to the login pageI am using ASP.NET 3.5 on Windows Server 2008.I have set up the web.config with the following<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="/Unauthenticated/GenericErrorPage.htm"> <error statusCode="403" redirect="/Unauthenticated/NoAccess.htm" /> <error statusCode="404" redirect="/Unauthenticated/FileNotFound.htm" /> <error statusCode="500" redirect="/Unauthenticated/FileNotFound.htm" /></customErrors>and also<httpErrors existingResponse="Replace"> <remove statusCode="403" /> <remove statusCode="404" /> <remove statusCode="500" /> <error statusCode="403" path="/Unauthenticated/NoAccess.htm" responseMode="Redirect" /> <error statusCode="404" path="/Unauthenticated/FileNotFound.htm" responseMode="Redirect" /> <error statusCode="500" path="/Unauthenticated/FileNotFound.htm" responseMode="Redirect"

Redirecting user on login

 I have 3 roles set up and want to redirect user after login depending on userrole. my code is: Protected Sub Login1_LoggedIn(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Login1.LoggedIn 'if there is no returnUrl in the query string , we redirect based on user role If String.IsNullOrEmpty(Request.QueryString("ReturnUrl")) Then If Roles.IsUserInRole(Login1.UserName, "Administrator") Then Response.Redirect("~/Administration/") End If If Roles.IsUserInRole(Login1.UserName, "Member") Then Response.Redirect("~/Members/") End If If Roles.IsUserInRole(Login1.UserName, "PaidMember") Then Response.Redirect("~/Members/") End If End If End Sub   It seems to hit the first if statement and redirects the admin to the right folder but the members do not get redirected. I am not sure what I am missing.. this seems to be a pretty simple thing to do but will not work right for some reason.

I need to change the login name for the dbo account on several databases to the SQL sa name instead of using a Windows authentication domain name.  I haven't been able to find a way to make this change.

Login failed for user 'XXX'. Reason: Attempting to use an NT account name with SQL Server Authenti

Under a network service account. I want to perform some operations on the SQL server DB.

I am passing the user id and password of the admin on that box. Still I am getting Login failed for user 'XXX'. Reason: Attempting to use an NT account name with SQL Server Authentication.

Is there any way i can connect to Sql server with user id and password?

Connection string i am using is Data Source=imdbstrs22;Initial Catalog=DataStore;Integrated Security=false;user Id=XXX;password =Imdbaug#10;

The login already has an account under a different user name. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15063)

I have two databases xxx and yyy.

I added a new user to xxx named as "Admin". It ownes some schemas.

Afterwards I added a new user to yyy named as "Admin". It ownes the same schemas.

Then I pressed ok button, got the error:" The login already has an account under a different user name. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15063)".

Could you please give me some advice?

Account login problem

I have some problems with sahrepoint 2010 account management...

In my windows 7 i have 2 accounts: an administrator account (let's call it "admin") and a standard user (called "reader"). In the SP2010 central administration i have correctly added both accounts as "managed accounts". In my site i have modified the "site permissions": "admin" account was already in the "[Site collection name] Owners" group, and i have added the "reader" account to the "[Site collection name] Visitors" group.

When i open a SP website i have to login: let's say i log in as "reader". Then i want to log in as "admin", so i select "Sign in as a different user" in the top-right corner of the page. Now when i insert username and password of the "admin" account, i get some kind of error, as if the password is wrong (but i get no message, just the same window again asking me for username and password). At the third attempt, i get the 401 UNAUTHORIZED page. But when i close the page a re-open it, i result logged in as "admin", without having to insert username and password!

Is this a normal behavior? Otherwise, what could be the problem?

Setup a login account for system backup, but now allow accessing data

Dear All,

     My problem seem quite contradiction. Not sure it's possible to do. My question is we used a symmatic software to backup our SQL databases. It require an admin right SQL user account to perform it. However some of database is quite sensitive e.g HR data. I don't want to let the IT staff to make use of this privilege to read the data. Is there any solution on this?

stsadm change in 2010? login as system account problem

I have installed SharePoint 2010 beta 2 on a HP Blade in a Domain Environment. SQL Server 2008 SP1 CU2 is on a seperate Blade. Installation and configuration went ok. Everything runs under my Domain-Admin Account (SQL, Farm, ...)

The first few sites went smooth, after a while i noticed that not my Domain-Admin Account was written in the top-right corner, but "System Account". I remembered that problem from MOSS 2007 and tried stsadm updatefarmcredentials. Result after 30 seconds of waiting:
Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: farm

To be exactly i tried: stsadm -o updatefarmcredentials -userlogin XXX -userpassword XXX

There is definatly no typo and i tried varios different things like with "" and without "", with -identitytype and withou, and so on..

When i change the Farm-Account at the GUI, to a normal Account, i see my Domain-Admin Account in the top right corner again instead of System Account. When i change back, the same problem occurs.

Im pretty sure i resolved the issue in 07 with the command written above. Did the syntax change? Do i have to use Powershell? It looks like i have to specify the farm somehow (even thou there is only one farm consisting of one server on which im running the command)

Of course i'd be happy for any other solution to th

login is redirecting to live site...

When I login to my site in visual studio, it used to login to the local machine. Now for some reason I don't know, I'm being redirected to my live website. What should I check for this?

Also, on my live site, 2 logins aren't working.  They were working earlier today. My administrative login and one of my other logins. I'm told that the credentials are incorrect when this is not the case. I know exactly the credentials and I have my table open with sql server management studio. I'm staring right at them and getting the wrong login error message.

Silly me. These logins were deactivated by accident when I recently deactivated a number of bounced emails. Problem solved.

MS SQL Server 2008 sa account locked out and Windows Authentication login is greyed out

The sa account got locked out and even though mixed mode authentication is enabled. When I select "Windows Authentication" the Username and Password fields are greyed out. The username field contains my current windows logon and the password field is blank. I am logged in with a windows administrator account though I hadnt explicitly added this account to the SQL server sysadmin role.

I have also tried "Run as Administrator" with the SQL server management studio but the problem persists

Please note that SQL server was installed with another windows administrator account. Could this be the reason ? Will it work if I login with the account with which SQL server was installed ?

Need help redirecting users to personalized page

 Hi, first timer here so be gentle.

I've been able to create a cool little website, it's up and running with users logging in and out, I created roles so my administrative team can see sensitive data that's not available to regular and anonymous users.

Now they would like me to create a page specific to each user.  For instance when user A logs in they are redirected to a page that has information that pertains to user A only (like a list of their benefits/ their remaining vacation time). This page needs to be accessible only to user A.

I've watched a ton of the videos but have yet to see one that covers this topic, any help would be great!!!

I thought this would be simple... Trying to create a login does an ajax check before submit

I have the standard .net login control that is working.  (Still learning .net after 15yrs of classic)

What I want to do is OnButtonClick run a javascript function (to do an ajax call to the db to check if login is valid or not) and if it returns true, then submit the form normally, else don't submit. The piece that I can't figure out, is how to correctly override the default click even to hit my JS routine and then submit the form properly afterwards.

Thanks ahead of time

SqlServer - Windows Account to install Application from Gallery

Referring to this tutorial: http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/tutorials/download-and-install-an-asp-net-application

I selected umbraco cms and got this wizard:

I already have Standard Sql Server 2005 on my machine which I wanted to us for above DB and not SqlExpress.

I did not remember "sa" account pwd nor I use explicitly any account to connect to my Sqlserver. I use Windows Authentication account i.e implicit authentication. So I created new account and gave all rights and used it in the above wizard and was able to install the database after some struggle.

My question is: What if I want to use my Windows Account to install the database above? Why the wizard don't have any option to use Windows Integrated Authentication?

Note: I can create the DB with external user I created, just looking specifics for using Windows Authentication for above installation.

How to modify the login control

I'd like to record more information than the default control allows as well as perform actions with the input when the form is submitted but I'm having trouble figuring out how.

So firstly, if I want to record the middlename for example, how would I do that, and by default, where would it go if anywhere?
When the form is submitted, I'd like to take specific input, such as just the middlename for example, and write some linq to sql code to specify when and how it's stored.
In what event would I put this code?
