Connection failed on SQL Express 2005

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :

Dear all,

When I defined my SQL Express IP on one of the application, it say connection failed. A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to SQL server. The server was not found or was not accesible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error:0 - No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it).

I've disabled the firewall, however I am able to connect via management studio.

Please advise.

Thank You.

connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly.

I dont have the SQL EXPRESS installed instead I have SQL Standard Edition.

I have two SQL Server instances installed.

1- UserLT (this is sql 2000)
2- UserLT\SQL2005 (this is SQL 2005 named instance)

But when i try to add a database to my VS website project I get the following error:

Connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly. please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=4925

I went in Tools>Opetions>DataBase tools>Data Connection>Sql Server Instance Name (blank for default)

and changed the "SQLEXPRESS" to "USERLT\SQL2005".

But I still get the same error message. Any ideas how i can resolve this issue?

Connection to SQL Server 2005 Express?

Hi all, I've been reading other posts for awhile now and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm a Web Developer and not a DBA. I have SQL Server 2005 Express installed on my machine and it's working just fine. I also have the Management Studio Express CTP installed and working. I'm trying to connect to a database using a username and password (from ColdFusion Server which is working fine for external Oracle and Access databases, so that's not an issue), so I set up the server to allow mixed mode authentication. I can log in to the Management Studio using Windows authentication OR the username and password without any issues. I have TCP/IP enabled in the Configuration Manager and 127.0.0.1 enabled. This seems like a ridiculous question, but I need to know the servername, port, username and password to connect to the database. I'm trying all combinations of things but nothing's working. If I put in 127.0.0.1 as the server, 1433 as the port, and use the username and password that worked in Management Studio I get this: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket. Connection refused: connect The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket. Connection refused: connect If I use MACHINENAME\SQLEXPRESS I get this: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SQLServer

SQL Server Express 2005 connection timeout issue.

Client: Sql Sever Management Studio Express 2005 (SSMSE) on Vista Server: Sql Server 2005 Express on Windows Server 2008 Standard When I first try to log into SSMSE from the client machine, the login operation times out. When I retry, the login succeeds almost immediately. If I close the app and re-open it, the same thing happens. This appears to be infinitely repeatable. I am able to reproduce this behavior using SQLCMD.exe. Here's the error: "Timeout expired. The timeout elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. (Microsoft SQL Server)" The technical details reference Error Number -2 What may be unique or tricky about this client's network is that it's a mixture of IPv4 and IPv6. I believe the server is configured for both, but honestly the networking side of things is outside of my expertise. Has anyone else experienced a problem like this? I'm looking for some troubleshooting tips and of course a flat-out answer :-). Thank you in advance for your time and expertise - I hope I've broken the problem down to its simplest form. Will.

The error is  (1067) The process terminated unexpectedly.

Initially the SQL Server was running over there, later one day it stopped. When trying to start manually I got "The process terminated unexpectedly" error. Tthen I uninstalled it and tried to install again, but got "Error 29503. The SQL Server service failed to start" error while installation and installation rolled back. If I install it using Local System and without "Enable User Instance" I get same error but after multiple retry it started. However my desktop application is not running and giving error message "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure process for the user instance. The connection will be closed".

I tried "sp_Configure .......... " and "Reconfigure" to enable user instance but still got "Failed to generate......" error.

Another problem is that SQL Server service starts in multiple retry.

I have tried most of the forum solutions however I am still getting the same error in my desktop application. Mos

Hi,

I can't get my C# app to connect to the DB.  I have tried numerous diff ways to connect.  The DB is there, I can get to it thru sql server, just not from C#.  I keep getting the following message -

Provider: sql network interfaces, error 26 - error locating server / instance specified.

All is on my home PC running XP Home Edition.

Thanks.

Windows 7 connection to SQL Server Express 2005 on Windows Server 2003

I have SQL Server Express 2005 running on Windows Server 2003 R2.

I have several remote machines running Windows XP that connect to the database engine with no problem.  I'm using an Access adp to connect.

Just connected a Windows 7 machine and installed SQL Server Express 2005 on it and cannot connect to the db engine on the server.

Error is:

Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

I am on the network and connected fine and can access files on the server.  I am using the same connection protocols in the Data Link Properties that the XP machines use.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Greetings,

I'm having a doozy of a problem, and can't find a solution.  I have a WFC Web Service installed to a pair of servers, and accessed through a load balancer.  I am accessing the service from an ASP.NET client app, also via WCF.  The Client is not load balanced.

I'm getting an intermittant error:

I can reproduce this error with about 20% reliability if I execute the exact same page request on the client from 2 browsers at the same time.  When the problem occurs, the successful p

Hiiii

I am creating an application for bulk mailing. Its on my subdomain.

The functionality i require here is I need to copy an html file located in different subdomains on my production server to my bulk mailing application.

I am using HttpWebRequest for the purpose where I take the url of the page into a text box and create a HttpWebrRequest.

The code is as simple as follows.

HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest) WebRequest.Create("http://mydomainorsubdomain.com/dir1/page.html");

and this is working fine on my local development environment that is in VS2010

but when i put code to production server it is throwing following error.
