Missing Mainenance Plan in SQL 2005

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :

I recently installed SQL 2005 server for the first time and also SP2. I have a few databases setup but I can't create a maintenance backup plan for the dbs. The help notes advise the authentication must be part of the sysadmin server role. I added the sa account to this role, but I still do not see anywhere to create a maintenance plan. There are no Wizards available through the menu bars.

How do I access the maintenance plan creation wizards?

Controls: Plan Your Migration to the Visual Studio 2005 Navigation Controls

Navigation is central to a well functioning Web application and it can be implemented numerous ways using today's technologies. This article highlights some of the key details of the new navigation controls that are part of the upcoming ASP.NET 2.0, and talks about how to design and implement one of these navigation controls today. This article contains a simple Web site that demonstrates the use of these navigation controls, pointing out some of the key items such as a breadcrumb control and things to watch for along the way. The article then describes how to implement a breadcrumb control today.

Maintenance plan to rebuild Full-text index ? (SQL 2005)

Is it possible, through the GUI Wizard, to create a Maintenance plan that rebuilds (rather than reorganise/optimise) a Full text index in 2005 ? The full text index is based on one table only - so would using the "Rebuild index task" in the Wizard do the trick ? I wouldn't mind if the other indexes on the table were rebuilt too, but main concern in the Full text Index. If not - then I guess it would be a scheduled job which does a ALTER FULLTEXT CATALOG catalog_name REBUILD, but I thought it would be nice to keep it within the - Management - Maintenance plans - section of SQL Management Studio. Also - should this be preceeded with a transaction log backup ? Had some issues rebuilding them last night - seemed a Log backup was needed.

CPU killer when showing execution plan when having a missing index

Hi you all! Do you have problems with flickering and CPU getting high when you show the execution plan for a SQL Statement AND there is a missing index suggestion? See related connect id: https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/360457/hovering-mouse-over-execution-plans-query-line-is-cpu-killer I really hope someone from Microsoft can take a look at this a give us a status update, over TWO years since I reported it and still an issue. Have you experienced the same? Please vote the bug up to "raise" the flag.Best regards Arild Røksund, Norwegian developer (SQL & .net), Omega AS (please Vote as helpful if helpful)

X-axis labels missing: SSRS 2005

Hi, I have a single line chart in a list, with hourly intervals on the X-axis. The generated report has a number of charts displayed, one for each group in the list. For some charts the X-axis labels depicting the hour are shown for all intervals. For others, I do not see the label for the first and last interval. The intervals are spaced out enough and there is no reason why SSRS may choose to not show a label because of a space constraint. Any idea why some labels along the x-axis are missing? Thanks, Yash

SQL 2005 Server export to Foxpro fails by "default codepage missing"

Hi, I just tried to apply the foxpro driver VFPOLEDBSetup.msi to import and export an old format dbf. First of all no other method is available in this case, as one of the dbf-tables holds about 9 million rows. I don't want to (manually) go to excel and wait for 10 years importing it there, then only to discover i need another 10 years to get it into sql server.   Here's my task at hand: Source: street/housenumber database with approx 9 million rows Task:  Convert it to SQL server database (import DTS)           Change some data Export it back to DBF format. I don't have any problems acting on the first two steps (dts import to SQL 2k5 and changing data) I doooo have some problems with the last part. As soon as i define the DTS through the wizzard, it leaves the "CodePage" blank. However, upon executing it i receive some warnings and finally errors: On the "Setting Destination Connection" action in the final execution progress window: - Setting Destination Connection (Warning) Messages Warning 0x80202066: Destination - housenum [40]: Cannot retrieve the column code page info from the OLE DB provider. If the component supports the "DefaultCodePage" property, the code page from that property will be used. Change the value of the property if the current string code page values are incorrect. If the component does not support the property, the co

missing asp.net web application in VS 2005 - only see asp.net web site

SQL 2005 "Class Not Registered" error when saving a Maintenance Plan

We are running SQL 2005 Standard Edition SP3 on a single server. Anytime I attempt to save a maintenance plan, I get a "Class Not Registered" error. I also got this when attempting to edit or delete Maintenance Plans created previously, when this functionality was working. On this server there is a SQL Server 2000 as the default instance, and the SQL Server 2005 is a named instance.

Looking at other posts everywhere, installing SP2 or SP3 can break the ability to create or edit Maintenance Plans. I can confirm that SSIS is running and that I can now connect to Integration Services in Mainagement Studio (and I was able to delete my old plans in the Integration Services). There was a problem with this which was cured by manually registering dts.dll and msDtsSrvrUtil.dll in the DTS/Binn folder. I wonder if I need to manually register any more DLLs.

SQL Server 2005 64bit Install - Missing Management Studio

Good Afternoon,

I just installed SQL Server 2005 64bit on a fresh system with no other applications loaded on running on the new server.

The only other component that was installed with the SS2K5 database services is SSIS. The base installation and the SP2 patch went on perfect.

I went looking for the Management Studio thru the Start menu options and it is NOT under the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 group. The only options under the SS2K5 group are "Configuration Tools" and "Docs and Tutorials".

Here are file names that I downloaded from the MS website and installed.

   SW CD SQL Svr Enterprise Edtn 2005 64Bit X64 English #1 x64 MLF.x11-57796 (which is a zipped)

There was also another zipped file that I tried to install but it seems to be a duplicate of the zipped file above:

SW CD SQL Svr Enterprise Edtn 2005 64Bit X64 English #2 x64 MLF.x11-57797

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks ALL!

SQL 2005 upgrade to SQL 2008 R2 migration plan

Where can i get a outline for upgrading from 2005 to 2008 r2 (both standard).
The 'Copy Database' from ssms fails when it finds a database role in my 2005 database.  Not sure why.
I tried an IS project to transfer logins and it also fails.
I assume i need to transfer logins w/ sids or they won't match if i detach and copy files.
I had fewer problems moving from 2000 to 2005, sorry, frustrated.

Creating your SharePoint Governance Plan

One of the most common questions that I get from prospects as I'm talking to them about the creation of a governance plan and process is what does it look like. In other words, there are materials available which describe what should be in a governance plan but there isn't a ton of guidance on what the process of creating a governance plan and process are.

SQL Server 2005 Try and Catch Exception Handling

I'm pretty excited to see that there is some real error handling for T-SQL code in SQL Server 2005. It's pretty painful to have your wonderfully architected .NET solution tainted by less-than-VBScript error handling for stored procedures in the database. The big difference being the addition of TRY..CATCH blocks. Let's take a look:

Missing 'new item templates'

 Hi all,

I am a 'newbie' to VWD and I am slowly working through the Basic Walkthrough Help files, and learning plenty along the way.

However, when I tried to create a new database in the LINQ control walkthrough I found that the option to create a new database is missing, and further investigation has found that many other new item templates are missing.

I am using a brand new machine with Windows 7 Ultimate and have enabled IIS and .NET from Control Panel-Programs-Turn Windows Features On-Off. I used the WPI to install all basic elements eg. IIS Components, SQL Server Express.

The only 'new item templates' I have when I right-click the App_Data Folder and choose 'new item' are:-

ADO.NET Data Service

AJAX Enabled WCF Service

Dynamic Data Field

SQL Server Database

Text File

XML File

Does anyone know where I have gone wrong.
