Micrsoft SQL2005 - KB2463332 keeps wanting to Install

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :

I have Windows 7 Ultimate running on a DELL XPS M1710 Laptop and this update appears to install successfully, but then it does a fresh download at the next power up. I have tried installing using ADMIN mode and running SQLEXPR directly. Again all looked OK until next power up. I have reviewed the other blogs and none of those seem to offer me the solution I need. Any ideas please?

My last LOG file is as below:

SQL2005 Express Install fails with advisory that .NET 2.0 is either corrupt or missing

I am trying to install SQLExpress 2005 adv on an XP Pro SP2 machine standalone and keep on getting the same error -- "SQL setup has detected a problem with Microsoft .Net Framework installation and cannot proceed. Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 is either not installed on this system or is corrupt."I have uninstalled/reinstalled .Net 2.0 some many time that I think it come close to the population of China. Still the same message. I had no problems on a different machine so I cloned that Hard drive, re-activated the software and tried on this machine. Still the same problem. I know what you are thinking, it must be machine related. Both machine have identical hardware from motherboard, Bios, peripherals, memory, Hard drives, CDROM and DVD drives. I took the failed HD and put it in the machine that installed correctly and the same thing happened - the install failed with the same message.I used "installer" to check the install info -- Both .Net 1.1 and 2.0 show up properly.I ran MSIZAP !G to get rid of orphans.I uninstalled SQLExpress. Cleaned the registry. ran the clwireg-x86.exe, removed both .Net 1.1 and 2.0 several times. Blew the hard drive away sevral times and restarted from scratch.Still the same perfectly useless message.Any help would be appreciated at this stage.Motherboard is Asus P5QL/EPU, 2.5 gHz Intel P43 Quad core, 4 G DDR2, 160 SATA WD

Unable to install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services Service Pack 4 (KB2463332)

Hello,

Rookie here. Using SQL for an eBay software program we have been running for two years. There were simple step by step instructions to install -- point being, I really dont understand this stuff.

Running Windows XP SP3.

Automatic Updates is trying to install the version shown in the Title of this message. It fails to install and gives me the error: SQL BPA command line has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I do not know where to access the error log. I will post if someone can tell me the correct one to find. In the following directory, C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\, there are directories for MSSQL.1, MSSQL.2 and MSSQL.3. Two of them show log directories with today's date.

Any and all help is very much appreciated.

Thank you!

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332) will not install no matter what

This is what I've been trying to install: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332) for three days now. I have followed directions from the Microsoft web site and from the few who responded - nothing has worked. The last question I received yesterday was a response from asked if this is what I had: http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2005/en/us/express.aspx

However, I'm not sure; therefore, I am listing what I do have. I don't know if anything listed below connects to that web address or not or even where to go to find it.

What I have on the computer is: Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition (ENU) ,Microsoft SQL Server Native Client, Microsoft SQL Server Set Up Support Files (English),Microsoft SQL Server VSS Writer. Therefore, I am wondering that since I don't downloaded any other Service Pack is why this one refuses to install. Thanks for your help and please put responses in plain English - not a computer wiz.

KB2463332 SQK Sever 2005 for XP Keeps trying to install but always fails

For the last few days, I keep getting an automatic update attempt of service pack 4 for SQL Server 2005. It consistently fails, and then, the next thing I know, it pops up wanting to install again. This is VERY frustrating. I have looked at some general information that seems to be related to my problem, but, frankly, I am not quite as technically familiar with the details, so I am lost. SQL apparently came as part of a .NET development package that I use very, very rarely. (I have one VB program that I run once or twice a year.)

Any assistance will be appreciated as this is driving me nuts. Although I am somewhat technically inclined, I am not primarily a PC or Windows developer, so I may need somewhat more specific details. (Based on another post, for example, I looked at the registry settings for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL1/setup but where the person says that MSSQLX is the instance, I have no idea what the instance is. I looked at 1, 2, and 3, and only 1 had a value that looked like "Resume"=dwprd:00000001, and I set this to 0, but it seems not to have helped. Based on another post, I enabled the pipes service, and that also seemed to make no difference. I admit that I am somewhat out of my depth here.)

Looking for guidance: wanting to work with AJAX architecture

Hi,

I'm starting a small website that will be backed by a database, and will allow a small number of users to authenticate and select an entry in the database, and then view (and optionally update) a corresponding entry (think master-detail).

I have some flexibility in how I'll do this, but I'd really like to incorperate some newer AJAX style coding, eliminating some page postbacks. I think this is a great opportunity to learn the concepts well.

I'll probably go with an ASP.NET 4.0 site. From what I've seen there are MANY ways to go about this:

-WCF Data Services to expose the data, and consume in ASP.NET

-Page methods to expose the data, separate method to update the data

-I'd rather avoid the UpdatePanel because I'm really looking for a full hands-on approach, with learning client side scripting being an objective as well.

Beyond that, it seems that one can use jQuery to build clientside templates, but also one can use the ASP.NET AJAX template engine (in ASP.NET 4.0 I believe).

A concern I have: users should only be able to work with the data exposed via these endpoints if they are logged into the website. Hopefully I can somehow reuse the ASP.NET forms authentication cookie for this purpose.

Well, I hope I've posted enough to a

SqlServer - Windows Account to install Application from Gallery

Referring to this tutorial: http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/tutorials/download-and-install-an-asp-net-application

I selected umbraco cms and got this wizard:

I already have Standard Sql Server 2005 on my machine which I wanted to us for above DB and not SqlExpress.

I did not remember "sa" account pwd nor I use explicitly any account to connect to my Sqlserver. I use Windows Authentication account i.e implicit authentication. So I created new account and gave all rights and used it in the above wizard and was able to install the database after some struggle.

My question is: What if I want to use my Windows Account to install the database above? Why the wizard don't have any option to use Windows Integrated Authentication?

Note: I can create the DB with external user I created, just looking specifics for using Windows Authentication for above installation.

VWDE 2010 Won't Install Ajax Control Toolkit on XP Pro

To my displeasure I cannot find VWD2005 which at one time would generate a complete web.config for Ajax so I downloaded and installed VWDE 2010 to a clean install of XP Pro.

I've created a new tab on the toolbar for the controls but after I select the Ajax dll to add the controls to the toolbar it grinds away and then goes poof and closes down the task leaving VWD look as if I had never even created the tab in the toolbar.

Any advice here?

Modifying connection String in Web config using Install Wizard

Hey,

Im trying to create a Web Deployment Project, the built in setup and deployment is very good in Visual Studio, i need to able to add an additional step in the setup to change the connection string in the Web config file.
