I am testing the upgrade process of SQL Server 2008 to 2008 R2 in a Windows Server 2008 Clustering environment.
After upgrading the Shared Components in the passive node, I was unable to fail over SQL Server. The error I got was: The SQL Server (<InstanceName>) service terminated with
service-specific error 17058 (0x42A2).
After much digging without success, I proceeded to upgrade SQL Server to 2008 R2 on the passive node. After the upgrade, moving SQL Server to the passive node returned the following:
The action 'Move to node <NodeB>' did not complete. An error occurred moving the clustered service or application 'SQL Server (<InstanceName>)'.
the operation failed because either the specified cluster node is not the owner of the group, or the node is not a possible owner of the group.
All shared resources have both nodes as possible owners, and failover works just fine before the upgra
