I'm trying to upgrade the instance of SQL Server 2008 Enterprise (64-bit) IA64 to
SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise (64-bit) IA64 on Windows Server 2003 SP2 for Itanium-based platforms. I ran into several problems:
1. Despite of following the Upgrade Matrix rules (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143393.aspx) I'm receiving the message that "Specified edition upgrade is not supported", thus
rule "SQL Server 2008 R2 Feature Upgrade" fails.
2. On the phase of selecting features to upgrade all of them are blocked. Hence, I'm unable to choose any and unable to deselect upgrade for "Reporting Services" which is not supported for the version of OS I have on computer. The message is "It is not possible
to change the SQL Server features to be upgraded in this release".
So, I'm asking what can I do to solve this problems? What may be the cause?
Additional information: I also have the instance of SQL Server 2005 installed on this computer as a default instance. Can different versions of shared features be the cause of the first problem?
