A severe error occurred on the current command

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :

As per the below link, it is clear that it is a bug in SQL 2005.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928372

But I faced the same issue in SQL 2008 SP1 CU7, while creating index on a very large table.

can anyone please confirm or point me to any KB article, where it says it is a bug in SQL 2008 as well?

Thanks

ORDER BY clause causes 'A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, shoul

Hello,

I'm trying to execute the following:

SELECT STATE_CODE5
  FROM qaeda.R727702b.NF29005
  WHERE STATE_CODE5 IN ('IL','NV','VA','NH','HI')
  InTERSECT
  SELECT STATE_CODE8
  FROM qaeda.r727702b.NF29008
  WHERE STATE_NAME8 = 'HAWAII'
 ORDER BY STATE_CODE5;

In both 2005 and 2008 versions of the SQL Server the query parses ok, but on execute I get the following error:

Msg 0, Level 11, State 0, Line 0
A severe error occurred on the current command.  The results, if any, should be discarded.

If I remove the the 'ORDER BY' clause, I am able to execute the query with no problem.

I've searched the forum and I know this error comes up often in various circumstances, however I didn't see anything similar to this.  Please advise, maybe I'm writing the query incorrectly?  Thanks

Error occurred in deployment step 'Add Solution': Operation is not valid due to the current state

Hi all,

I am trying to deploy my first Visual Webpart from Visual Studio 2010 to SharePoint 2010. It contains simple 'Hello World!' message. The project builds successfully, but when I try to deploy it, it gives "Error occurred in deployment step 'Add Solution': Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object"

I have enabled SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure in the site collection and site.

Help please.

Registering controls of current assembly object reference NOT set error

Hi There,

I have created a simple ASP.net Web Application (2.0) and have added a web user control.

Now in my page I have added this control but I have registered like this,

<%@ Register Assembly="WebApplication1" Namespace="WebApplication1" TagPrefix="Custom" %>

Which means I want to access all the controls in my current Web Application project

Then I have added my user control like this,

<Custom:MyUserControl ID="MyUserControl1" runat="server" PublicProperty="Hello" />

Every thing is fine but when I execute the project, NO control on my user control gets "instantiated" and thus I receive error "Object Reference Not Set"

Note that My Control has,

1) Public property PublicProperty as String

2) 1 Label control

In Load Event Handler I am setting Text property of Label Control to PublicProperty. Here object reference NOT set error occurs (which means Label control is NOT initialized).

I don't want to register my control using Src, TagPrefix etc. Any ideas?

Thanks

An operations error occurred in ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider

Hi guys, i have an application that uses Active Directory Authentication and deployed the application several days ago without any error. Today, I got this error.please refer to the image. I find it  weird because I didn't change any code to my webconfig file since i deployed the application to the server. I've notice that it's working if it's http://localhost:50618/website/login.aspx (by opening the source file in server and debug it) however when i try to access the application through http://10.3.11.75/ReCAPS/login.aspx. I'm getting this error. I'm using 2.0 framework

And here's my web.config

ASMX ws: An unexpected error occurred on a receive; failing intermittently

Hi,

we I have asmx web service, this seems to be working fine for 25 client machines but one site keeps failing. The client gets a small dataset and tries to send it across to server to process. The dataset saved in XML file only makes 450 - 550kB. The web service is contacted twice in a short time every half an hour. The other smaller dataset (50kB) goes across everytime without any troubles. This site is not trying to send the biggest dataset, other site are sending much bigger datasets without problem. The catch is this failing site keeps retrying for 20 times (10 hours) in average and then eventually goes across. I don't think the service webmethod is erroring out as that is all wrapped up in the try and catch and the exception is not getting thrown, also every other try for the exact same webmethod used by any other client site seems to be working fine.

'An unexpected error has occurred' on upload after changing limit

Hi,

I recently changed the max upload size for attachments to TFS work items on our SharePoint site.  I did this by going to the http://tfsserver1:8080/tfs/ProductCollection/WorkItemTracking/v1.0/ConfigurationSettingsService.asmx?op=SetMaxAttachmentSize URL and entering the new size in bytes.

This worked a treat, but not I cannot upload any documents to another site on the same server.

I can open and save documents that are already there, but when I click the 'Upload' button it gives a white page with 'An unexpected error has occurred.' on it.

Is there something else I have to set when I increase the upload limit for work items?

Regards,
Isobel
