SRR V0015612 or DG0072. how to dectect if a user has changes is password more than once in a 24 hour

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :

I'm having to harden a SQL Server 2005 SE SP4 enviroment, and now I must find a way to dectect or not allow a SQL Server user to change is password more than once in a 24 hour period. Is this a Windows server policy that can be checked, or is this a stored system proc, or will I have to right something to track this. If someone has already indentified this, send me some bread crumbs please.

LDAP - directory entry issue with out user and password using impersonate and windows authentication

Hi All I am using the below code to fetch the user information from LDAP             DirectoryEntry entry = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://DEV");             DirectorySearcher searcher =  new DirectorySearcher(entry);             SearchResult result;             searcher.Filter = "samaccountname=testuser";             result = searcher.FindOne(); here i am using windows authentication always and along with that when i enable the impersonate = true ,  the code fails at "result = searcher.FindOne();" with message "object reference not set to instance of an object "  also with the same code if i give the username and password along with the impersonate tag >> it works  or if i am using the user and password along with the DirectoryEntry  object then also it will work  but it fails with same user that i gave in impersonate tag / directory entry object with windows authentication enabled  and the  user logged to the application and no username and password tag in directory entry / impersonate tag  Interesting thing is that  in our development server ,  i am able to execute the same code with out user name p

return url in aspx refreshes the page when I click login after entering user name and password

Hello,   I need help as I am struggling to login into my web portal on my new sony vaio laptop. I think that I need to do some settings, or download some plugin. Infact I don't know what to do, as I have spent many hours trying to login, but no success. Below is my office website:   http://www.lantec-uk.net/SignIn.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fdefault.aspx When I enter my credentials and click login, the web page gets refreshed, i.e username and password get erased, rather than taking me into my web-portal. The laptop is having windows 7 home premium, with ie8. I have also tried installing firefox, chrome, opera and safari, but same problem. Somebody please help, as sony has refused to take the laptop back and they are saying that there is problem with website. Similarly, website staff are saying that there is a problem with the laptop and not with the website.   Any help highly appreciated.

error message customization in create user wizard, change password wizard

Hi All,

Create User Wiard and Change Password Wizard contain error message literals. They display error messages when a user is trying to sign up with an username that already exists and so on.

These error messages are pre-set. How can they be customized. In particular, how can they be adjusted depending on the language.

How is this usually best achieved?

Thanks a lot.

How to hide SQL Server password from user in an Windows Forms Application?

Using - VS 2005, SQL Server 2005 Express, Windows Forms Application

I am unable to find a way that hides the password to connect to database in case of a Windws Forms Application.

- app.config is accessible to the user, so connection strings an be read.

- app.config can't be encrypted as in case of ASP.NET applications

- hardcoding the password in the application in connectionstring still makes it possible to be discovered by a user

Resetting User Password

We our currently running SQL 2005 w/ sp2 installed.  We have an application (GP 10) that has the ability to reset passwords from within the application and also force the user to reset the password upon first login.  I've noticed recently that the option is no longer available from the application anymore so I just check from within SQL Management Studio and noticed that I don't have the option either.  In both instances the option is grayed out.  We do have the option to enforce password policy selected for the users.  Is there a setting I'm missing?  We moved the application from another SQL 2005 instance where the option was available, but that server is no longer online for me to check it.

Get sharepoint list documents for a user without password

I have a sharepoint site which will have documents based on the user id given as the parameter.  I am using the default MOSS web service (_vti_bin/lists.asmx) provided.

The request to this service will be made from a Java site and the java site will only pass the user id to the web service, but the MOSS web service requires user id and password to accept the request.  To overcome this issue, we are trying use an admin credentials, now the issue is when we make request to the web service with admin credentials it returns the documents for the admin.  We need the documents of the user id, is there anyway to get the documents of a user by passing user id alone?

Expecting experts help on this.
