SQL EXPRESS 2008 replication issue with sync media center on windows 7

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :

Dear all,

I am not able to configure the system in order to make it solve merge conflicts interactively (that is with the help of the user).

The configuration is the following one:

PC-A: sql server 2008. With one the DB "myDB" published for replication.

PC-B: sql server 2008 r2 express. With two replicas of "myDB" on the same instance of sql express: "myDB1Replica" and "myDB2Replica"

The two replicas simulate two users that change the content of the same record so that I can test how the system behaves in case of conflicts.

Everything runs smoothly if "Resolve conflicts automatically" is set... but I get this error message when "Resolve conflicts interactively (only applies to articles that support interactive resolution)" is selected.

Error: The merge process failed to get correct information about the Interactive Resolver component from the registry. Verify that the registry exists and that the path is correct.

Of course this has been enabled on the article (from PC-A on sql server) and on the subscription (from both PC-B sql express and syncro center) as well.

I have been searching everywhere and found nothing! Any help would be really appreciated! I really need to run the interactive conflict resolution

On SQL Server Express 2008 R2 and Windows 7 x64 replication subscription does not show in Sync Cente

I am running SQL Server 2008 Express R2 64-bit on Windows 7 x64, and I've created a subscription to a database publication on a Windows Server 2008 with SQL Server 2008 R2 standard. The subscription created fine on the Windows 7 machine in SQL Server Management, but it does not display in the Sync Center. I have set the subscription to "Use Windows Synchronization Manager" and recreated the subscription several times, but it never shows up.

I've searched for hours and I cannot find any answers to this. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there a step I'm missing?

Does Sync Center support for SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition pull merge subscription?

I have create a subscription (pull, merge replication) on SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition to a publication on SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition. I have seen that the subscription has been enabled for Windows Sychronization Manager as I can see in its property dialog. However, I cannot see it in the Sync Center of Windows 7 on the Subscriber.

Does Sync Center support in this scenario? From another thread, it seems we need to use Windows Task Manager. If so, how can I set it up?

Thanks in advance.

Word Automation Issue in Windows Server 2008 Hosting

The problem I am posting here is that I was facing nearly 2 weeks around. Any body comes with this stuff please help.

Word Automation in sample ASP.NET(C#) application.

I am using Microsoft.Office.Inetrop.Word Assembly for automation. Here I am reading a XXX.dot template file and fill the contents with dynamic data.

When i am executing my code in localhost:someportnumber the automation is working fine and I could get expected result and when I am hosting in my inetmgr(Windows XP is my OS) it is also working fine.

But the problem is that when I am hosting in my production server(Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition) I am not able to perform automation and results in the following error.

Data: System.Collections.ListDictionaryInternal
Message: Word has encountered a problem.
Source: Microsoft Word

The code gets failed in the following line:

ApplicationClass wordApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.ApplicationClass();

Document wordDoc = wordApp.Documents.Add(ref oTemplate, ref oFalse, ref oMissing, ref oMissing); // Error in this line

I cannot able to proceed further. Can anybody please help me in solving this issue?

Thank you.

Help!!!! Permission issue with Analysis Services on Windows 2008 R2

Hi I'm with a project using Sql Server 2008 on Windows Server 2008 R2. It seems I can not connect to Analysis Services server with SA acount but only with Windows Authentication (The 'Authentication' option is diabled). And when I connect to Analysis Services with my windows acount , I do not have the permission to either create a database (ERROR:Either '***' user does not have the permission to create a new object, or the object does not exist) or grant server privilege to my windows account (ERROR: Only an administrator can make changes to server properties). Also, I failed to remote connect to Analysis Services on Server with my windows account (But I can remote connect to Database engine). Any idea?  Thanks!

Windows Media Services 2008 and the Media Web Part

I have Media Services 2008 installed and working (tested with Windows Media Player, works fine) and a SharePoint 2010 Enterprise installation. I want to use the Media web part to display content from Media Services 2008. Is this possible using an MMS:// style url? Or does the media web part only like http:// or "local" content ? Media Services 2008 is installed without http:// components at the moment, but I can't find any information about what the media web part supports so don't know if it will work with mms://

Help with an InvalidCastException with Windows Media Services on Windows Server 2008 R2

Hi, I developed an application that utilizes content from Windows Media Services. The entire application was written in C# on a Windows Server 2008 x86 environment using the interop assemblies provided by Microsoft. Everything works fine, except when I try to run the application on a 64-bit machine. When I run the application on the 64-bit machine, I get the following error: Unable to cast COM object of type 'Microsoft.WindowsMediaServices.Interop.WMSServerClass' to interface type 'Microsoft.WindowsMediaServices.Interop.IWMSServer'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{845FB958-4279-11D2-BF23-00805FBE84A6}' failed due to the following error: Error loading type library/DLL. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80029C4A (TYPE_E_CANTLOADLIBRARY)). I tried looking for an updated interop assembly, but couldn't locate anything newer than the one that I was already using. Does anyone know how to get over this hurdle?

Windows 7, SQL Server 2008 Express & VWD 2008 Express Setup Problems

Hi I have Windows 7 Home Premium, and Visual Web Developer Express 2008 (which came with SP1) installed. SQL Server 2008 Express never worked - Windows 7 won't allow the Management Studio to be installed and VWD was asking for SQL Server 2005.  Looking on the web, I found advice to try the 32 bit version of SQL Server instead.  This would work with VWD, apparently.  I referred to these instructions (http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/6/3/163A851B-D956-42E9-B426-F5C0EBE6B654/ReleaseNotes.htm) and used the latest links and instructions, but I could not install SQL Server at all - apparently something to do with WOW64... This has been going on for a WHILE and I'm going nuts.  I am reluctant to uninstall VWD and start again, because I had to manually fix a few things, and now it's working...  PLEASE can someone tell me of a working configuration, I have read SO MUCH advice on this, and none works, including those release notes (unless I missed something) :(

SQL Express 2008 install error 84B40000 "The Windows account somain/user does not exist and cannot b

Full reported error

StdOut -2068578304: The following error occurred:
The Windows account doman\user does not exist and cannot be provisioned as a SQL system administrator
Error result: -2068578304
Result facility code: 1204
Result error code: 0

domain/user is a domain administrator and also a local administrator and is the currently logged in user.  This failure is happening as part of A Citrix XenApp 6.0 configuration which was started as an Administrator

A Google search for
"The Windows account" "does not exist and cannot be provisioned as a SQL system administrator"
Came up with absolutely nothing.

A Google search for -2068578304 failed to find anything, which did not surprise me.

-2068578304 translates into hex as 84B40000.

A Google search for 84B40000

Comes up with a fair few different textual descriptions with the same error code, which I am wading through.

Any help would be welcome.  I am also asking my friends at Citrix.

With thanks in advance.

Windows XP, Visual Studio Express 2010 and SQL Server 2008 Express - How can I save modified columns

I am using c# in VS 2010 Express. I have a MDF database that I connect to through "Database Explorer". Database Explorer will not let me SAVE columns that I have modified. As I know in SQL Server 2008 full edition you can change the setting "Prevent saving changes that require table recreation" in Management Console to prevent this. I haven't got Management Console and can't see it in install.

How do I change this setting if I haven't got management console? Is it in Registry or Config File.

Remove SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition from Windows 7 professional

Are there any good practices to follow in order to remove/uninstall SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition from Windows 7 professional laptop? Thanks for your comments.

Usage of SQL Express from Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition (64-bit) to Windows 7

Which Operating System and configuration to be used for the Intranet Website? Kindly guide me.

Windows 7 x64, SQL Express 2008 - Problems attach Northwind database

I've attached Northwind many times before, but seem to be unable to do so in Windows 7. I tried attaching from Visual Studio, using osql, and finally (after many hours) installed SQL Express 2008 / SQL Management Express 2008. All methods failed. The last failure (using SME 2008 Attach Databases) is sometimes:

Unable to open the physical file "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\DATA\northwnd.mdf". Operating system error 2: "2(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105)". (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

and other times:

Database 'Northwind' cannot be upgraded because it is read-only or has read-only files. Make the database or files writeable, and rerun recovery. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 3415)

I have, of course, verified countless times that the files are NOT read-only.

Could any please explain what could be happening here? All suggestions much appreciated.

many thanks,

SQL Server 2008 Express R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64

I installed a SQL Server 2008 Express R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 machine on 15th february 2010.

Today I can't start the "SQL Server" windows service. I have tried manually, but the error is:

"Window could not start the Sql Server (SQLEXPRESS) on Local computer"

After trying to start the  the "SQL Server" windows service, I have read on the Event viewer the following error:

"SQL Server evaluation period has expired".

After trying to launch the SQL Management studio Express 2008 I have read this erroe on a pop-up windows:

"Evaluation period has expired."

I though that the express edition was free. I need only to register or to buy?

How can I buy?

I am in hurry. Please let me know! Thank you very much.
