Does Sync Center support for SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition pull merge subscription?

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :

Hi,

I have create a subscription (pull, merge replication) on SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition to a publication on SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition. I have seen that the subscription has been enabled for Windows Sychronization Manager as I can see in its property dialog. However, I cannot see it in the Sync Center of Windows 7 on the Subscriber.

Does Sync Center support in this scenario? From another thread, it seems we need to use Windows Task Manager. If so, how can I set it up?

Thanks in advance.

Is SQL Server 2008 Express edition provide XMLA support?

Hi There,

create subscription on client creates no entry in Sync Center if there is another SQL Server 2008 R2

We created a publication on SQL Server 2008 R2 (Dev. Edition). Then we tried to create a pull-merge subscription on the client which should create an entry in Synchronization Center (Win 7) as well under Windows Explorer – Synchronization (Win XP).

This scenario works if there is only our instance of SQL Server installed on the client.

If there is another instance (default or another named instance) installed before we create our instance with subscription there is following strange situation:

-       Subscription is created properly within Management Studio, property for showing in sync center set to enabled.

-       No entries created in Synchronization Center or Win Explorer Synch.

-  &nbs

On SQL Server Express 2008 R2 and Windows 7 x64 replication subscription does not show in Sync Cente

I am running SQL Server 2008 Express R2 64-bit on Windows 7 x64, and I've created a subscription to a database publication on a Windows Server 2008 with SQL Server 2008 R2 standard. The subscription created fine on the Windows 7 machine in SQL Server Management, but it does not display in the Sync Center. I have set the subscription to "Use Windows Synchronization Manager" and recreated the subscription several times, but it never shows up.

I've searched for hours and I cannot find any answers to this. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there a step I'm missing?

Thanks,
Jonathan

CSS support in visual studio 2008 express edition

I have several css style sheets I want to work with.  I have copied them into the appropriate directory structure in my project.  The styles are applied correctly.

But the manage CSS styles tool bar on the left margin doesn't seem to work correctly.  At one point I had generated a style sheet and worked with it there, but now it not only can't find the one it generated, but the attach style sheet link doesn't respond at all, nor does anything in this bar.  Same deadness with the CSS Properties bar.  With or without a style sheet loaded in the editor -- a style sheet that is active in the project such that when I run it, the styles are applied.

VB version of studio, running on Vista home basic.

PS, the design mode works a lot better than the professional version I use in my day job on XP and server 2003.

SQL Server Express 2008 Setup fails. Support Rule "Restart Computer" Failed

Hi, I have been trying to install SQL Server Express for most of the day now without any luck.  Whatever I do setup fails at the stage of Setup Support Rules, Rule "Restart Computer" - Failed.  Needles to say I have restarted (several times!) and I have tried downloading  and installing the "Advanced", "Tools" and "Basic" versions, all give the same error.  Trying a repair does the same.  I have been searching the net for an answer without success, any help would be MUCH appreciated. Further info: I am trying to install a stand-alone installation on to a single PC running under XP SP 3 with .NET 3.5 SP1 installed.  The PC did have some earler versions of SQL server installed but I (?hopefully?) removed all of these through Control Panel.  Before trying the first SQL install I installed Windows installer 4.5 and PowerShell 1.0 as per the Microsoft Instructions. Running SQL Server Configuration Manager results in an error (MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap in might not have been installed correctly).  A directory structure for SQL server exists in "Program Files".  Services MSC shows SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) as Automatic Statup (not running).  Trying to start this manually gives error 14001: "application configuration incorrect - re-install to fix" .......... Which is precisely what I'm trying to do.........:(

Does SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Reporting Service support Shared Datasets?

I have spent a few hours trying to get this to work. I am using Report Builder 3.0 (locally), with SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition on a remote web server. I am running Report Builder as an Admin under Win7 64bit. All is OK until I attempt a Save of a newly created shared dataset. The error message is: Failed to save dataset "mydataset.rsd" The feature "Shared dataset" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. Details: The feature: "Shared dataset" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.OperationNotSupportedException: The feature: "Shared dataset" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. I have researched the web, and the list of features for Express Edition does not list this feature as not being supported, although it does list "Shared component library" as being missing. Could anyone please confirm the situation please. If it is  a bug, is there any fix or workaround?  John Walton

Can't install SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition x64 from Command Line

I can't get R2 Express (x64) installed from the command line... x86 using this same command line works fine, just x64 is broken.

Using this:

/q /ACTION=Install /SECURITYMODE=SQL /SAPWD="MyStrongPassword" /INSTANCENAME="SQLEXPRESS" /FEATURES=SQLEngine,Replication,SDK /SQLSVCACCOUNT="NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE" /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS="MyComputerName\MyUserName" /IAcceptSQLServerLicenseTerms=TRUE

Everytime it fails with:

2010-09-19 15:30:48 SQLEngine: : Checking Engine checkpoint 'ConfigureServiceBroker'
2010-09-19 15:30:48 Slp: --SafeSqlCommand: ALTER DATABASE tempdb SET NEW_BROKER ALTER DATABASE msdb SET NEW_BROKER

Additional messages in the SQL Server error log and system event log may provide more detail. This is a severe system-level error condition that threatens database integrity and must be corrected immediately. Complete a full database consistency check (DBCC CHECKDB). SQL Server 2008 Express Edition: What is the difference between R2 and SP2?

Hi,

I received last week a notice about the expiration period of SQL Server 2008 R2.  I honestly got surprised considering that I installed the Express Edition.

This week, I noticed an article announcing the coming out of SQL Server 2008 SP2.  This really caught my attention.

A few questions:

1- Is R2 a release candidate version of SQL Server 2008 Express?

2- If so, how can I uninstall it from the moment SP2 is available for download.  Must I use the original setup program I used for install?

3- Actually I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition with Advanced Services.  What is the equivalent for the SP2 version.  Where can I find it for download?

Thanks for helping,

Stéphane

SQL 2008 SP1 - Log shipping solution with Logshipping monitor on SQL Server Express Edition SP1 (bad

Hello All !

I'm installing a log shipping solution with SQL Server 2008 Standard SP1 (on x64 US). I use a monitor logshipping with SQL Server Express Edition x64 SP1 US. When I try to connect it, I have this message when i tried to use w.x.y.z\SQLEXPRESS  as a monitor server:

'w.x.y.z\SQLEXPRESS' is not a valid monitor server instance.  A monitor server instance must be SQL Server Standard Edition, SQL Server Workgroup Edition, or SQL Server Enterprise Edition.'

In SQL 2005, it is possible to do that with SQL Express. And with 2008 R2, is it possible too or it is the same problem ?

Thanks for advance for your ideas / help - Regards - Have a nice day ! RHUM2

SQL Server 2008 Web Edition Pull Replication

Hi,

When creating pull replication on a SQL Server 2008 Web Edition (10.0.1600.22) - it creates the pull replication properly. However, when attempting to view the job history it says: "An agent job has not been created for this subscription."

There is indeed no agent job in the SQL Server Agent for the replication.

However, when trying to run the

it says:
