DTSPackage Object Library VS. SqlServer.ManagedDTS

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :

We have a bunch of DTS2000 packages on our Sql2005/2008 cluster.  I have been playing around with DTEXEC and DTSRUN. DTEXEC doesn't see my DTS2000 packages, but DTSRUN does.  So then I wanted to run the packages from code and I am not able to do it using ManagedDTS, but I am able to do it using DTSPackage.  Does ManagedDTS not work with DTS2000 packages?

Thanks

This doesn't work:

public static Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DTSExecResult RunDtsPackage(string package, string servername, string username, string password)

  {

   try

   {

    Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application app = new Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application();

    Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Package pkg = app.LoadFromSqlServer(package, servername, username, password, null);

    Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DTSExecResult result = pkg.Execute();

    pkg.Dispose();

    pkg = null;

    app = null;

    return result;

Visual Basic: Inspect COM Components Using the TypeLib Information Object Library

The built-in Object Browser in Visual Basic, like other component browsers such as OLE View and XRay, is one of the more useful tools. But an even better tool would be customizable. You can build your own type library browser using the TypeLib Information Object Library (TLI), a set of COM objects designed to allow programmers to browse type libraries programmatically. This article explains type libraries and the TLI object model, and shows how to use the collections to get information about objects, leading to the creation of a custom type library explorer.

My problem:I do something like this:$dbsvr = new-object microsoft.sqlserver.management.smo.server "servername"$dbsvr.databases | ft name,size -autosizeWhen i run this from two different PC's i get database sizes that are all the same (5.25 mb), the size of the first database listed - which is master.I started to try out a few things, and found out that when i run the same command from one of our servers it returns the correct sizes...Anyone have any idea if this a SMO issue, or maybe some package software version issue...- or what?

View previous version of a file in document library using Client Object Model

Hi,

Using Server-side object model, it is pretty simple to get the previous file versions. Say I wanted to view a file in its initial version, all I’d need to do is :

file.Versions[0].File

When using Client object model, I couldn’t any analogous method/property which would let me fetch the previous version of file.

Can somebody point me to a sample or the property which would serve my purpose?

SharePoint Workflow : Failed to Start when a document is added to library from server-side object mo

When I add a document using my server-side object model code, I get an exception "The type or namespace name 'Office' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft'" in the server logs and in the library I can see the Workflow status as "Failed to Start".

myLibrary.Files.Add(...);

myLibrary.Update();

Interestingly, when I add a document to the same library from sharepoint site portal, it works just fine, the workflow kicks off with the state : in-progress.

Also, I modified the task form for the Approval workflow template from SharePoint Designer using infopath.(Not sure if that be a problem as adding from portal works fine.)

What am I missing out here??

"Object reference not set..." on SQLServer SessionSate

Hi everyone.

I'm new around here and looking for some help on my issue.

I have an web application on framework 1.1 that session state was recently changed to SQLServer as it's working on a webfarm.

The problem is that for some reason I'm getting the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" when some action is performed. When the error is shown there is no call to any session variable, just a click on a link from a GridEx, that should open a new window.

Some times it would occur when clicking in some button, but just couldn't figure out why.

Any ideas of might be the problem or what can I do to find it out?

Thanks in advance.

Cannot use the Microsoft.SQLServer.ManagedDTS.dll when moving my project from a machine with SQL 200

I built up a poject  with a module calling SSIS package. This module is created as a dll file. In this module, I refereed the Microsoft.SQLServer.ManagedDTS.dll with SQL server2005 and SSIS installed. It works ok. When referring this dll in the moudle, I set the specific version as FALSE. Copy local as TRUE.

At the project output bin folder, there are the following new dlls:

Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSRuntimeWrap.dll and Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS.dll

They have the version 9.0.242.0.

But when I moved the project to another machine with SQL server 2008 and SSIS to run the exe file, system reported following error:

Source Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS
Description Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {E44847F1-FD8C-4251-B5DA-B04BB22E236E} failed due to the following error: 80040154.

And I don't think the above two dlls should be exported to output folder. So, I deleted them directly. At the developing machine with SQL 2005, it still works well. But at the target machine with SQL 2008, a new error occurs:

Source MN.SwissPost.FTPTool.SSIS
Description Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
