Maximum amount of characters in a text data source

Hi, I've got an Infopath 2007 form, that contains a repeating table. I'm using a text type data source that is storing certain values from the repeating table's multiple columns using double eval function. Is there any limitation to maximum how many characters are allowed on this text data source? I'm also planning on promoting this data source on a sharepoint site's form library. I think the text fields in sharepoint site are allowed maximum 255 characters. Please correct me if this is not the case. Would sharepoint form library show full text after promoting this data source if it contains a lot of info or exceeds 255 characters. I haven't tested these yet, but just thinking of extreme cases to plan things better. Please advise. Thanks,Pman http://www.pmansLab.com/

Incomplete/truncated data Serialized to disk. Error:End of Stream encountered before parsing was com

Greetings!! i have a dataset which is constantly serialized & deserialized by multiple threads (in a thread safe manner using lock statement) using System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.BinaryFormatter (.net 2.0). The Code below works pretty fine but in some rare scenarios it gives the above exception while deserializing. public void SerializeData(string path, DataSet currentData) { dataStream = new FileStream(path , FileMode.Create, FileAccess.ReadWrite); try { biFormatter.Serialize(dataStream, currentData); } finally { dataStream.Flush(); dataStream.Close(); } } DataSet DeserializeData(string path) { dataStream = new FileStream(path , FileMode.Open, FileAccess.ReadWrite); DataSet storedDataSet = new DataSet(); storedDataSet.Locale = CultureInfo.InvariantCulture; try { storedDataSet = (DataSet)biFormatter.Deserialize(dataStream); } finally { dataStream.Close(); } return storedDataSet; } When i observed the serialized file i realized the file had some in incomplete/truncated data. String or binary data would be truncated

Hi Folks,

After I inserted a row in my Database (row 27) I started getting this error when I try to insert, update or delete the record in the database.

I've searched about the error on google and it says that I should have a field that crossed the limit of characters.

I have only the autoincrement field, two varchar fields and a text field, neither one of the varchar fields crossed the limit, they arent even close. I found in google that one solution would be turn the field that is having problems in a text field, but the only field that actually can be causing the problem already is of the text type.

The exact error I get on VS 2005 when trying to change something in the row 27 is:

"No row was updated.

The data in row 27 was not committed.
Error Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider.
Error Message: String or binary data would be truncated.
The statement has been terminated.

Corret the errors and retry or press ESC to cancel the change(s)."

I need some help guyz, see ya, hugs.

Text was truncated with "nvarchar(max)" data type and size by using SSIS Import and Export Wizar

I am using SSIS Import and export Wizar to load data from Excel file, I have set the datatype as "nvarchar(max); those data are not biger than 1000 bits but was failed to transfer as the error says:

[Source - TreatmentPlans$ [1]] Error: The "output column "SchoolPlan" (57)" failed because truncation occurred, and the truncation row disposition on "output column "SchoolPlan" (57)" specifies failure on truncation. A truncation error occurred on the specified object of the specified component.

SSIS Error Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page

I the same issue or something close.

Except I have one Field (27) that get a trunacation error

Data conversion failed. The data conversion for column "Column 27" returned status value 4 and status text "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page.".

The "output column "Column 27" (91)" failed because truncation occurred, and the truncation row disposition on "output column "Column 27" (91)" specifies failure on truncation. A truncation error occurred on the specified object of the specified component.

Data looks like:Red Text is the field that is throwing the error!

Error Message: String or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated

I have the following problem.

When I edit a field in the SQL Server Management Studio Express then I get the following error:

Error Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Error Message: String or binary data would be truncated.

The statement has been terminated

When I use the SQL update commando, it works fine.

Fore debugging we need to change the enabled field several times.

Is there a solution fore this?

SSRS 2005 - Extra Data (Characters) after SQL result

I ran into a snag with Reporting Services 2005. When I run a query in RS against SQL it returns me a result with some additional data (characters) + bunch of spaces!! So here is an example: my query returns a varchar, when I run it in SQL it is fine and returns me:

When I run it SSRS in the Data tab, I get "SHRIMP 5 SAMPLE E NET WT 5 SAMPLE                                                                                                                " (extra data and bunch of spaces)

It does it for all results. The extra characters are absolutelly unrelated to this record BTW so I have no clue where it's picking those up from!

Here is what I tried so far without any luck:

-I made sure the database is correct and I'm connecting to the correc

String or binary data would be truncated.

I am getting this error message

String or binary data would be truncated.
The statement has been terminated.

I want to force this insert so that even if the column data length is less than the inserting value. it should still insert the
data as truncated ( or cut it short to fit the size of the column)

How do we achive this

How to get xml to ignore "&" and "<" characters in the data?

Note:Both columns "Description" and "Value" are of type "nvarchar" and length=100

Can anyone help me to solve this...

When the web form exceeds the number of  formated Strings (i.e., Zip Code, Phone Number, Fax Number, Email Address ); the submission is terminated. Error message reads: '[SqlException (0x80131904): String or binary data would be truncated.'

JDBC:How I can Insert multibyte data into NTEXT field after setting SendStringParametersAsUnicode=fa

My OS : Windows XP
JDBC driver : SQL server 2005 JDBC driver 1.2
Connection string :jdbc:sqlserver://servername\SQLEXPRESS:1433;sendStringParametersAsUnicode=false

In our DB we have   a set of tables having VARCHAR and NVARCHAR , TEXT andNTEXT fields..
We have indexes using VARCHAR fields and NVARCHAR fields in various tables.
If we don't use sendStringParametersAsUnicode, by default takes as true and send every string in unicode format. This craetes issues for our tables with VARCHAR indices. Performance dropped.

So we set sendStringParametersAsUnicode=false, in our connection string. And used

setNString for 2.0 driver for NCHAR/NVARCHAR
for 1.1. and 1.2 driver we used setBytes(ordinal, data.getBytes("UTF-16LE")); since no support for NString

This is working for NCHAR/NVARCHAR types and we are able to store  multibyte data.

But the problem comes when we use stream to store data in NTEXT fields. When we use setCharacterStream() only ASCII data is stored properly. Multibytedata is corrupted
 We tried
byteInputStream = new ByteArrayInputStream(data.getBytes("UTF-16
