Perspectives don't seem to recognize standard actions SSAS 2008 Enterprise

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :

In my cube I have a standard (rowset) action. When I create a perspective (box checked for this action), It does not appear on browser context window "my standard action" or excel context window "other actions" This was a setback for us, because we need the perspective's ability to make invisible user-defined hierarchies. Has anybody else experienced this? Is this by intention or a bug?

SQL 2008 Upgrade Standard to Enterprise: Fail

I'm trying to upgrade an existing SQL Server 2008 SP1 Standard Edition to Enterprise.  Running the enterprise edition maintenance->Upgrade Edition wizard first got me the dreaded "Invoke or BeginInvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has been created." Eventually, I found an entry on Connect that mentioned closing all other windows and ensuring that the installer has the focus and this got me past that error.  Now that I can run the edition upgrade through to successful completion, it's not actually doing anything. Edition still reports as "Standard" and enterprise features such as "Compress Backups" do not work. I've run the upgrade twice and restarted the system to no effect. Before I do a "Rip and Replace" does anyone have any ideas on how to actually get the edition upgrade to work? Steve G. OS:    Windows Server 2008 R2 DB:    Product: SQL Server Standard Edition (64-bit)   Version: 10.0.2531.0 P.S. Just in case someone asks, yes, I did follow the instructions located here.

The new hardware should be better than the old one.

SSAS 2008 R2 custom actions with Performancepoint Services 2010

Hello all,

Is PerformancePoint 2010 capable of showing custom actions created in SSAS 2008 R2 in analytic charts under "additional actions" in general?  I figured out that only SSAS actions of type "drilldown action" show up in the context menu of the PPS analytic chart (and also function properly), whereas custom actions with MDX expression (drillthrough script of ASSP for a calculated measure) in SSAS are not shown by PPS under "additional actions" at all (not even disabled, just no entry). Target type of the custom action is set to cell based as I already read that other types are not supported yet. Drillthrough permissions in SSAS are set properly as the show details function of PPS works fine for the same user accessing (non-calculated) measures. Testing the custom action with SSAS built-in cube browser and Excel OLAP interface shows no problems at all.

Thanks for your help,

Is there no way to upgrade from SQL Server 2008 Standard to SQL Server 2008 Enterprise with MSDN?

There are no Product Keys for MSDN copies?  I'm in the SQL Upgrade wizard and it needs a Product Key to upgrade?

SQL 2008 Upgrade from Standard to Enterprise

Can you tell me if this upgrade from Standard SQL 2008 to SQL Enterprise 2008 using simply the product key would also work if you have an existing A/P Standard 2008 Cluster. I wish to upgrade the hosts to Enterprise SQL 2008 to avail of Asyn Mirroring.

Using SQL Server 2008 R2 client with Enterprise Library

I am modifying an existing application that uses SQL Server 2008 as the database and Enterprise Library 4.1 for Data Access .

What I need to do is to make it use the SQL Server 2008 R2 client to take advantage of out of the box failover capabilities.

Any idea how I can accomplish this?

Upgrade SQL server 2008 R2 from Evaluation Edition to Enterprise Edition

Hello SQL Support group, I have SQl server 2008 R2 installed on a Win 2003 R2 and it is for our SharePoint and Project server 2007 environment. Today I noticed that we have only 75 days left! Seems like we installed it on evaluation mode. Here what we have on Helpàabout : Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Complete (expires in 75 days)    10.50.1352.12 We do have MSDN account, and we have the KEY that comes with the SQL server 2008 R2 enterprise. We would like to assign the key to our SQl server ( we want to have enterprise edition). It is in a production environment now. I would like to know how we can do it  with minimum of down time. I found this link: http://blogs.technet.com/b/sqlman/archive/2010/03/16/sql-server-2008-upgrading-to-standard-enterprise-edition-from-evaluation-edition.aspx On the internet, but doesn’t say anything that we are losing any data after upgrade or not. Please let us know the best way to assign the key, and if it has any impact in our data. Thanks Bahram

Was installing SQL 2008 Enterprise last night via RDP. When I came in this morning, I was disconnect

When I opened a connection, the old connection was gone, perhaps a reboot? I am able to connect to the instance from the server and create a table  and query a DB.  I am however unable to connect to the Instance from my 2005 client. How can I tell the install was successful? Looking in the event logs and not seeing anything around the time it would have completed. Additionally: I checked and Remote connections is enabled. TCP and Pipes are enabled. SQL Browser is stopped, when attempt to access to start that I get an error: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices asssociated with it [0X80070422] I can't telnet into 1433 on the server.. might be firewall. Do I really need to open that manually? My client is SQL 2005, I believe I've connect to sql 2008 DBs. Should I upgrade the client on my client? I attempted to stop and start the instance. when I started it I got this mess: Server stack trace:    at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.VSIntegration.ObjectExplorer.ObjectExplorer.FindObjectExplorerFrame()    at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.VSIntegration.ObjectExplorer.ObjectExplorer.GetObjectExplorer(Boolean activateWindow)    at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.VSIntegration.ObjectExplorer.ObjectExplorer.ShowError(Exception e)    at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.

Move (detach/attach) db from 2008 Enterprise to 2008 Express

Hello I just thought about this question. Is it possible to create a database on a SQL 2008 Enterprise edition and move it to a SQL 2008 Express edition or would i run into the same version problems as when moving from 2008 to 2005? The reason for this is that i have a virtual Dev environment that has SQL 2008 Enterprise edition installed and now i get a project that is to run on SQL 2008 Express. It would be nice if i could skip installing the express edition and work against the Enterprise edition until deployment. Thanks ps. wasn't sure if this was the right forum to post this in. Please let me know if there was a more appropriate place for this.

Shared dataset in SSRS 2008 R2 running on SSAS 2005

I am trying to create a report in SSRS 2008 R2 using SSAS 2005 as a datasource. My dataset has a date parameter. When I create an embedded dataset in my report everything works fine, but when I create a shared dataset with the exact same mdx query, I get the following error: An error occurred during local report processing. The definition of the report 'xxxx' is invalid. The Value expression for the report parameter 'DateCalendarHierarchy' contains an error: [BC30034] Bracketed identifier is missing closing ']'. Does anybody have any ideas? Is this a bug? Thanks, Louis
