last time I asked, but no one answered, since the db is in sharepoint integrated mode, now I use native mode, still cannot connect it, it keeps asking me the user name and password. even I use the administrator account. and I can access in IE the http://myserver/reports and http://myserver/reportserver , does anyone know if this url is asked when connect to report server from report builder?

I am thinking the report builder is not used this way? I mean it can only be accessed from report manager web site?

Report builder 3.0 - Unable to connect to server

Hi there, We've been using Report Builder 2.0, and its been working pretty nicely. We have the option 'Use this report server or sharepoint site by default' option set to http://<server>/reportserver - and users can connect via the 'Open' dialog, save, etc. However, some of our users have been testing Report Builder 3.0 - and they are unable to connect, even though the URL is set exactly the same.  They have Report Builder 2.0 and 3.0 installed on the same client workstation. With the same settings, 2.0 can connect, but 3.0 can not. The target installation is SSRS is SQL 2008. The error is: Connection failed. Unable to connect to the server that is specified in the URL... Make sure that the server is running, the URL is correct and you have permission to use the server. Does anybody have any ideas? thanks, mark

Report Builder 3.0 won't connect

Hi.  I installed the standalone Report Builder 3.0.  This will not connect to our reporting server.  I am using the same URL that Report Builder 2.0 is using.  Report Builder 2.0 does connect.  The URL is http://tstreporting/ReportServer_tstreporting. The report server is a Windows 2008 Server with SQL Server 2008 Sp1 (10.0.2531). John

Error Message: The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection informatio

I have a web page that contains a ReportViewer control.  I am trying to display a report, which is an .rdl file located on the SSRS server, in this ReportViewer control.  I have set the ReportPath and ReportServerUrl correctly.  I am getting an error message. Am I suppose to use an .rdlc file rather than a .rdl file?  Does the web server configuration need to use a certain account?  I am getting the following error message: The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

Server 2008 R2 64 bit, SSRS 2008 64 bit with Report Builder 3.0 issues with Oracle OLE Driver

Folks, ran out of idea on this issues. Setup as shown at the Title. I can connect via VS 2010  but report builder cannot run properly when setup with connection string. I use a 32 bit Oracle Driver and VS 2010 works well with it, however, Report Builder on SSRS report a bad image issues while attempting to use the same driver. What have been tried: 1-Already attempted to try to download Oracle ODP drivers 64 bit, but current driver 11g and minor version above 11g does not install, installation failed. So far all chats indicated that Server 2008 R2 does not have a Oracle 64 bit driver provided y Oracle. Any help is appreciated ....

Cannot connect with Report Builder 3.0

Hi All I cannot attach to my ReportServer using ReportBuilder 1.0 or 2.0. on SQL 2008. I get 'connection failed' after a few minutes. I also cannot set a new datasource as the 'recent sites and servers' list is always empty, and I cannot connect to Reporting Services from Management studio. I can view my reports from a browser (IE 8), and from the VisualStudio IDE. I am a local admin on the database machine, and I have sysadmin priveliges on the database engine. I am also a system administrator on the Report Server, and I have my roles set to 'Browser, Content Manager, My Reports, Publisher, Report Builder, Team Foundation Content Manager'. SSRS 2008 - report manager: System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server

I have an instance of Reporting Services 2008 running on Windows 2003 server.  So, the webservice URL is running on port 801, and runs fine (I can browse reports from that directory, and upload / deploy new reports and overwrite existing reports. Report manager is set to use port 800 (IIS is also on that machine running port 80).  When I attempt to connect to report manager, I get the following error, with a link to "Home" in report manager (which brings me back to the existing error page):    Unable to connect to the remote server  In the logfiles for reporting services, the following error is there: " System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.   Any ideas? Windows Firewall is NOT running on this machine.   Thanks, Chrisrjp

Default values for filters not populating in report builder (SQL server 2005)

I  am frustrated with this challenge for  populating default values for filters in report builder. Here are the steps that I am performing.

I have clicked on the filter icon, then dragged the dimension to the filter pane, switched the properties to Prompt and changed the operator to 'in this list'.

by default the value selected is 'no value selected', Microsoft online tutorials says that this should automatically populate the filter criteria with the default list of values for the underlying dimension. However it dosen't

How do I populate this filter with default list of values.

Please help.

Report Builder 3.0 Compatibility with SSRS and Sql Server 2008 (not R2)

I've built reports in Report Builder 3.0 (which I love!). I tried to deploy the reports to an instance of SSRS installed with SQL Server 2008 (not R2). I can't deploy the reports - it appears SSRS is not forward compatible with Report Builder 3.0 reports. Would SQL Server 2008 SP1 help? Is there anything I can do to use Report Builder 3.0 with SSRS 2008?

Unfortunately, I cannot install SQL Server 2008 R2 in the production environment (yet).

Report Builder 3.0 unable to access SharePoint Foundation 2010 Report Server

I am having a terrrible time getting this to work. I have configured the SharePoint site and the SQL Servers involved to use Kerberos. That has been confirmed working.

I then configured the SharePoint site's Reporting Services integration (trusted account), enabled anonymous access and enabled report builder. I can launch report builder without any issues at all. The problem comes when I try to save my report. When Report Builder is started Items->New-ReportBuilder Report it opens and display in the lower left hand corner "No current report server." When I close the Wizard dialog and click connect I enter http://server.fqdn.net and I receive the following error:

Connection failed:

Unable to connect to the server that is specified in the URL, 'http://servername.fqdn.net/'.

Make sure that the server is running, the URL is correct, and you have permission to use the server.

I have also tried http://servername.fqdn.net/reportsserver/. When I try that I receive a login prompt. When I enter my credentials it tries for a few seconds and then sends another login prompt. I installed the report server using default settings. The reporting services db is on the same server as sharepoint. The configuration and other databases are on a remote S

Report Builder 3 not connecting to the server

I have some SSRS reports that I am looking to use Report Builder 3 with them.
Currently I was moved to a new laptop. The problem I am having is that the connection to the server from the report is not working, I am getting this message:
"Connection failed. Unable to connect to the server specified URL // www. etc"

I have access to this server via VPN and Remote desktop.

I need someone who can explain the reasons are why this is failing.

SQL Server 2008 r2 Report Builder 3 problem with "landscape" orientation

I am trying to format a report that is oriented in 'landscape'.  I have set the report properties page setup for 'landscape' but the program formats the report in 'portrait' mode.  The program recognizes the margin settings but does not recognize the 'landscape' orientation.  Has anyone else had this problem?

SQL Server report builder 2.0 in proxy environment

We are using SQL Server report builder 2.0 for our adhoc reports module.

Our client uses a proxy environment for their internet.

While the report builder 2.0 works perfectly well for us, we have a problem at the client's place.

When users try to access the report server, it returns the error message "Unable to connect to the report server http://<URL>!"

I have tried all sorts of settings in the MSReportBuilder.exe.Config file but it does not seem to work.

The proxy settings I tried is as follows:

      <defaultProxy enabled="true" useDefaultCredentials="true">

NOTE: The script location is masked to keep the confidentiality of the client i.e., the client name is replaced with ??? characters. This is the exact address stated in the Internet explorer connection.

It still does not

A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer.

  • I created a Report using Business Intelligence Studio. Its working working well, i can able to view records. But when i try to deploy the report an error occurs specifying that "A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer. (Microsoft Report Designer)".
  • I open the IIS 7 and find out virtual directories "Reports" and "ReportServer" are available.
  • I check on the browser and type "http://localhost/reports".  I find the browser direct to this url: http://localhost/reports/Pages/Folder.aspx and find error specifying the following one:

Error:The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.

  • when i type http://localhost/reportmanager, i found the error:

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found

The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
