          System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = System.Globalization.CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture("ru-RU");
          Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.WorkbookClass wb = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.WorkbookClass();
          wb.Application.Visible = true;
          wb.Application.Workbooks.Open(fileName.ToString(), updateLinks, readOnly,
            missing, missing, missing, missing, missing,
            missing, missing, missing, missing, missing,

I didn't find a solution in another threads. Please help me... this option is cruicial in my application. Thank you!

Error when opening Excel document from sharepoint

Hi, I am using Sharepoint 2010 and Excel 2010 x64.

I created a document library where I host a simple excel file for testing. When I click on it , it opens in the web browser just fine.

When I chose to open it with Excel , I get this error : The document could not be opened for editing. A microsoft Sharepoint Foundation compatible application could not be found to edit the document.

I already tried as well to do a check out before opening it and it still doesn't work.

Any ideas ?

PS : same thing happens with Visio 2010.

Has anybody experienced problems opening 'protected Excel 2007 worksheets in SPS 2003?

I have added the doc icons and MIME types to my SPS2003 farm and now it works properly with Office2007 documents, with the exception of 'protected' Excel files.  In those cases where the Excel file contains a 'protected' worksheet, the user can open the doc, unprotect the worksheet and make their edits.  When they 'protect' the worksheet again and try to save the file, they get an alert that the destination file is 'read-only' and they must save it with a different name.

This only happens for 'protected' Excel 2007 docs residing on an SPS2003 site.  Protected Excel 2003 documents work fine, as do unprotected documents.  Any help y'all can be is greatly appreciated.  I only have two users who are using the protected worksheets, but they are the most vocal of my users.

Error opening excel files stored in SharePoint 3.0 from VS2010 (TFS2010 setup)

First I hope this is the correct forum for te below question, and if not, please excuse and if possible divert me to the correct place.

We have a TFS2010 setup with (what I managed to identify) Sharepoint Services 3.0.
We have 2 users working in the same collection, and also share some of the projects in it with the below problems:

1. User A has Office 2007. She is unable to "edit workbook" on an excel file directly from VS2010, and gets an error of 'Unknown error trying to lock file'. I searched this around and didn't find a solution, but did find a workaround - If she checks out the file directly from the SharePoint site, she is able to edit the file, and in fact is able to later "edit workbook" directly from VS2010 (as long as she once checked it out through SharePoint).

2. User B has Office 2010. When he tries to "edit workbook", he gets an error of 'A problem occurred while connecting to the server. If the problem continues, contact your administrator'. When he goes directly to the SharePoint, he is able to check out the file, open it in Excel 2010, but is not able to check it back in (gets an error that the file cannot be located or so, I don't have the exact error). This means that this user cannot work with the SharePpoint stored files at all, and currently works on local copies on hi

Catastrophic failure while opening DIP form in Infopath

while opening my content type's DIP in infopath, it shows 'Catastrophic failure'.

while searching, i have found the reason for this,

While doing this so, you may be facing an ugly error Catastrophic failure error. Dont worry about this error... this is because of the columns in your content type. While creating a column in content type, that column should not contain any space(s). For example, you created a content type named "Test Document" and the site column you use is "Test Column". Then this content type will face the catastrophic failure error.

the columns are already being used.please guide me to solve this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Excel opening in read-only mode

I have excel files in my sharepoint site document library and when I open that file in my PC it’s allowing me to update the content but when I accessed the same file from my friend PC using my login it’s not allowing me to update and by default it’s opening in Read-only mode.

Kindly help me.

Export to Excel gives error before opening file

I have a web page with a gridview control and a button for Exporting to Excel

I get following error when exporting to Excel.

"The fiel you are trying to open, 'someFileName[1].xls, is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?"

Clicking Yes opens the file. I would like to avoid showing the above error to the users.

Following code is used from the click event. I've left the commented code here to show what I've tried based on results from internet search. I have Microsoft Office Excel 2007 on local PC.

public static void ToExcel(DataTable dt, string fileName)
			string attachment = "attachment; filename=" + fileName + ".xls";

			GridView gvExcel = new System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridView();
			gvExcel.AutoGenerateColumns = true;
			gvExcel.DataSource = dt;

			//HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", attachment);
			//HttpContext.Current.Response.ContentType = "application/ms-excel";
			HttpContext.Current.Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel";

Sharepoint seeking authentication when opening Word / Excel files from website

The company I work for is using SharePoint as a CMS for it's public facing website. I recently enabled FBA (Forms Based Authentication) for the site in order to provide some user specific functionality, but this has caused a side effect with Word / Excel files when opened from the site using Office 2007 / 2010.

Some users are challenged for authentication when opening a Word / Excel document from IE (but not when they're select "save file" instead of "open file"). A window pops up behind IE / Word / Excel (so you often don't realise it's there) showing the sites login page. If the window is dismissed then the document continues to open normally.

It seems to be environmental. Most Office 2007 / 2010 users internally experience this and we've had one report externally of this happening.

Anyone know how to prevent this behaviour?

In case it's relevant: The company also has an internal SharePoint site using NTML authentication allowing internal users to edit the same content visible externally.

I originally suspected the SharePoint header added to responses may be alerting Office to check for authentication to allow extended functionality, but I remove the response header in IIS and it didn't make any difference.

Excel Failure with Sharepoint

Please could someone help with a problem some users are experiencing when downloading an excel file from sharepoint in order to work on it. The error message is as follows "Faulting application excel.exe version 11.0.8328.0, stamp 4c717 ddb, faulting module excel.exe version 11.0.8328.0, stamp 4c717ddb, debug? Fault address 0x000d7558".

As explained this happens when users download from sharepoint and attempt to open the file. Apparently this has only happened since the files were introduced into sharepoint and did not happen when the file was used from the networks shared drives.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this issue is becoming political.

Export Visio Database Table Names to Excel

If you use the Enterprise Architect edition of Microsoft Visio for data modeling regularly, then there is a good chance that at some point you've wanted to export just the table names into Excel. You might want to do this to map logical ERD entities to physical data model tables, track project status by entity, or track overlap between database versions.
