Cannot call a webservice from Silverlight OOB when SSL is using self signed certificate

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :WPF

I've a Silvelight 4 app that consumes a remote service. All is ok if the service (and the SL app too: they are in the same Web site) is published via standard http. If I'm using httpS (using a self signed certificate), the app works only in browser mode. When I run the SL app Out Of Browser, it cannot contact the svc web service (reporting: the remote server returned an error: notfound).

I noticed that if I put a Webclient control on the SL app and navigate the same Web site where the svc is, it asks to authorize the access using the self signed certificate. After that, the SL client can contact the Webservice!

I also tried to trust and import the SSL certificate, but still nothing :(

Any way to skip SSL certificate validation in Silverlight?

Using reflection to dynamically call a wcf webservice

The problem: I have a test client that would like to run tests against the same webservice deployed to different servers.  I have a service reference for each of the different servers.

Progress: I am able to create an instance of each service reference (using Activator) and list the members of the service reference using reflection given that the referencing code  provides the namespace defined in the Reference.cs for the given service reference.  I am also able to create instances of other classes defined in the service reference and populate the properties of these objects.

However, when I try to access the Client using the following code, I receive the exception  "Method LGSBAClientCons.Local_Users.LGSBA_UsersClient.ClientCredentials' not found."

Object anObj = hUserType.InvokeMember(

Problem Java call .NET webservice.

I created a very simple webservice (below)

namespace PmtCommu

    [WebService(Namespace = "http://tempuri.org/")]

    [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)]

    // To allow this Web Service to be called from script, using ASP.NET AJAX, uncomment the following line.

    // [System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService]

    public class PmoWebService : System.Web.Services.WebService

        public string PmoSvc_Test(string strVal)

            string retVal = string.Format("You sent me {0}.", strVal);

            // my code logging the strVal.

            return retVal;

I tested with .NET client. NO problem.

BUT, my service need to be consumed by Java client. I have trouble passing the parameter in.

I can see the "You sent me ." in my log and as a return value.

Following is the Java Code:

CLR webservice call times out at 100 seconds

I have not found this answered anywhere.  I have a CLR function that exectues a webmethod call of my .NET application (.asmx).  The web service successfully executes when called directly but when called via the CLR it times out after 100 seconds with the following error:

I have increased the web service proxy timeout in fn_ExecuteReport without effect:

WebExec svc = new WebExec();
svc.Timeout = 3600000;  // set timeout to 1 hour
result = svc.ExecuteReport(userID, reportTypeList.ToString
