Message: "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Installation Has Failed"

On a Windows 2003 R2 x64 server, I have been unable to install SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition x64. When running setup.exe, I almost instantaneously receive the following Microsoft SQL Server Setup error:"Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installation has failed.SQL Server 2008 Setup requires .NET Framework to be installed."What does not make sense is that I successfully downloaded .NET Framework 3.5 from the Microsoft download site (published 8/11/2008) prior to the SQL Server 2008 installation attempt.http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=ab99342f-5d1a-413d-8319-81da479ab0d7&displaylang=enI do need to note that a few nights ago, prior to downloading the framework (3.5 SP1), I ran the SQL Server 2008 setup executable. I was prompted that in order to install SQL Server 2008, the setup program needed to first install .NET 3.5 SP1 and Windows Installer 4.5. I let the .NET 3.5 SP1 install run for about 1.5 to 2 hours and cancelled (now I wish I had just let it go).It is my understanding (correct me if I am wrong) that the SQL Server 2008 setup program initially checks for any pre-RTM versions of .NET 3.5 SP1 Framework. If one is found, it is then supposed to guide the user through both the installation of the .NET 3.5 SP1 Framework and Windows Installer 4.5. I have removed .NET 3.5 SP1 Framework (Add/Remove programs) and rebooted. However, upon runni

Please help! I've been trying for the last day and a half to properly install Microsoft.NET version 3.5 so that I can install TurboTax and do my taxes. I was only on version 1.1. Multiple tries to upgrade to 3.5 was giving me a code 1603 error on install on "Microsoft.NET version 2.0a". I followed advice from forums here and elsewhere to uninstall and reinstall my prior versions. I also used Windows Install Cleanup before reinstalling. I keep getting to the same result when I try to go from version 2.0 to version 3.5. In my last attempt, I went all the way back to version 1.0 and installed each step up to 2.0 SP1 with (allegedly) no problems. This last time I decided to upgrade to 3.0 instead of going right to 3.5. Now I get the following error message: [04/03/10,04:07:14] Windows Communication Foundation: [2] Error: Installation failed for component Windows Communication Foundation. MSI returned error code 1603[04/03/10,04:07:22] WapUI: [2] DepCheck indicates Windows Communication Foundation is not installed.[04/03/10,04:07:22] WapUI: [2] DepCheck indicates Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 was not attempted to be installed.[04/03/10,04:17:49] Windows Communication Foundation: [2] Error: Installation failed for component Windows Communication Foundation. Installation Did Not Succeed

.NET Framework 4 has not been installed because

The storage control block address is invalid.

For more information about this problem, see the log file.

Final Result: Installation failed with error code:

(0x80070009), "The storage control block address is invalid. "

(Elapsed time: 0 00:03:20).

Help with this is appreciated.  I cannot upgrade from Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 to 4, and due to this problem, I cannot install Visual Studio or Web Expression.

Thank you.

Microsoft .Net Framework 4 Client Profile installation error: (0x800B010B), "Generic trust failure "

Hi,

I'm currently using a window 7 64 bit operating system fujitsu laptop and I've been trying to install a update: 'Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB2160841)'. However, upon many tries of installing the update, i still couldn't get it install. The error details for the update is Code 66A.

Therefore, after searching on Windows forum for solution for that error, i've tried to repair the Microsoft .Net Framework 4 Client Profile by following these steps:

A. Click on Start and click on Control panel.

B. Go to Program and Features.

C. Scroll down to Microsoft.Net Framework 4 Client Profile, right click it.

D. It will give you a choice of Uninstall/Change, click it.

E. Then, it will give a choice to repair.

After following the above steps, the repair did not succeed because: Generic trust failure.

I have tried a lot of way to solve this including:using the stebner cleanup tool to erase all versions of framework then restarting  machine and reinstalling again but this way can't solve the problem, modifying registry etc.Other versions(1.0,2.0,3.0,3.5) are installing smoothly they are not creating problems only this fw 1.1.How can I resolve this issue. Please anyone help
