Registering controls of current assembly object reference NOT set error

Hi There,

I have created a simple ASP.net Web Application (2.0) and have added a web user control.

Now in my page I have added this control but I have registered like this,

<%@ Register Assembly="WebApplication1" Namespace="WebApplication1" TagPrefix="Custom" %>

Which means I want to access all the controls in my current Web Application project

Then I have added my user control like this,

<Custom:MyUserControl ID="MyUserControl1" runat="server" PublicProperty="Hello" />

Every thing is fine but when I execute the project, NO control on my user control gets "instantiated" and thus I receive error "Object Reference Not Set"

Note that My Control has,

1) Public property PublicProperty as String

2) 1 Label control

In Load Event Handler I am setting Text property of Label Control to PublicProperty. Here object reference NOT set error occurs (which means Label control is NOT initialized).

I don't want to register my control using Src, TagPrefix etc. Any ideas?

Error Registering COM+ Component

Hi All,

I am experimenting with using EnterpriseServices. I created a component, created the SNK file, compiled the DLL. In the assemblyinfo.vb file, I added '<Assembly: AssemblyKeyFile("c:\key.snk")> '.
I created a new package in COM+, When I attempt to add the .dll to the package i get:

An error occured while processeing the last operation.
Error Code 80020009 - Exception ocurred.

The eventlog may contain additional troubleshooting information.

Here is the Event log:

Error in handling Events

Invalid postback or callback argument.  Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page.  For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them.  If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.

NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.3603 - Fatal Execution Engine Error Encountered for Remoting Applicati

We encountered a sudden "NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.3603 - Fatal Execution Engine Error" which caused our application to be terminated. We googled this error, and we found that there was a problem with mscorwks.dll (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913384). This post is for Dec, 2007, but our servers have latest .NET Service Packs Installed. We feel that since .NET 2.0 SP2 is installed this error might have been fixed by Microsoft in SP2, not sure though. We are looking for any possible solutions, with which we can avoid this error again. I am mentioning the error and .NET software installed on our server below.

The application is installed as a Windows .NET Service and runs under Local System Account.

.NET Softwares Installed.

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable 2005

Below are the errors logged in the event viewer.

Events of September 2011 don't show up in calendar view and error on displaying october 2010 in cal

I actually faced a strange problem which is that when I add events in september 2011, they don't show up in the calendar view and the view remains empty but they appear in the all events view and another strange thing is that when I change the month to be october 2010, I get error page with the text:

An unexpected erro has occured.

web parts maintenance page: If you have permission, you can use this page to temporarily close Web Parts or remove personal settings. For more information, contact your site administrator.

and I checked in more than one calendar and in more than one site and it's the same, So I'm asking if any one faced something like this.

Thanks in advance.

Raise Events in remoting object

Hello i m new to .Net Remoting and I have following scenario and don't know how to deal with event raised on service side and handled on client side.

My remote object starts controller and controller further starts scheduler

Scheduler is responsible for scanning all jobs in queue and adding more jobs in a queue.

Queue member raises an event which i want to handle on client side

Could anyone help me to get solution for this

Remoting and events

I have a problem to solve that I am sure many others have solved before me. I would like to hear how you have solved it, and what the pros and cons are versus other alternatives.

The problem is this: An entity in a client-server application is to be modified by the server, but the client needs to take action in response to the changes. Ideally I would like the entity object to offer events that can be subscribed to whether on the server or on the client.

We are using remoting, so particulars may apply, although in general the problem of course comes from the client-server nature of the system.

I am unsure if making use of two-way remoting is the way to go. I am not (at least not yet!) talking about pushing changes from one client to another. Rather, a client provides an entity object, the server updates it, and the SAME client responds to changes in its state. It seems to me I would need some kind of "deferred" event firing mechanism, and I suppose I could implement this in my entity objects. Perhaps put event information in a queue when normally one would raise the event, so they can be raised later instead.

If anyone has any ideas or in paritcular *experience* with solutions to this problem, I'd be very interested to hear your POVs.

Observer pattern via remoting and events

I have a remote object, using the observer pattern, that calls a NOTIFY method on the registered client that in turn displays a message box with the message being sent by  the other clients.  All works fine.  My question is this - I would like the NOTIFY method on the registered client to trigger a client side event, instead of displaying a messge box.  However whenever I change to triggering an event within the NOTIFY method it seems to hang the entire client application. Why is this?  Any help would be appreciated. Below is a sample of the client side code called via remoting from server.

        public static GlobalEventListener<LockChangeArg> gel = GlobalEventListener<LockChangeArg>.Instance;
public void Notify(object anObject)         {   &nb

WCF Tutorial - Events and Callbacks

we described how to make a very simple client/server application where clients would call functions on the server through a shared interface. In this tutorial, I'm going to expand that application to allow the server to execute functions on the client by using callbacks. Essentially, this is WCF's mechanism to allow events to be raised from the server to it's connected clients.

Delegates and events in c#.net

People often find it difficult to see the difference between events and delegates. C# doesn't help matters by allowing you to declare field-like events which are automatically backed by a delegate variable of the same name. This article aims to clarify the matter for you. Another source of confusion is the overloading of the term "delegate". Sometimes it is used to mean a delegate type, and at other times it can be used to mean an instance of a delegate type. I'll use "delegate type" and "delegate instance" to distinguish between them, and "delegate" when talking about the whole topic in a general sense.

IsapiModule Error 500 Issue

I am about exhausted trying to figure out this error:

HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error

Description: The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred.

Error Code: 0x8007007b

Notification: ExecuteRequestHandler

Module: IsapiModule

Requested URL: http://localhost:80/ReportServer

Physical Path: c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\Reporting Services\ReportServer

When I enable Failed Request Tracing Rules and view the log output I am supposing that the actual problem is in the 2nd call where there are 2 backslashes before the actual filename in the specified path:

CALL_ISAPI_EXTENSION DllName="C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\\aspnet_isapi.dll"

Handling 404 page not found with Error page

How do i handle 404 page not found?

Inserting personal error message in ValidationSummary

I am creating a web form that requires a lot of validation. I use many of the validation control in asp.net already like RequiredFieldValidator and CompareValidator.

My Problem: after my custom validation for the value entered return an error message, and I pressed enter key when the field is empty, my custom error message is overlapped by my ValidationSummary.

Setting my custom error to visible = false on button click also does not seem to work as it requires for me to enter the value first.

This made me think, is there a way to insert my custom validation inside the ValidationSummary as an error message like for other validation control?

Thanks in advance

How to listen to events within a listview

I've got a listview and I've put a button control in one of the columns, I'm trying to figure out how I have listen to the button click within a certain row, but can't see the button in the dropdown for the IDs I can generate events for.

I'd like to get the primary key of the row that's been clicked on and then run a sql statement against it.

Any help would be appreciated.
