"The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel." when calling third party web ser

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :ADO.Net

I have a webservice that calls a third party web service over https. It used to work properly but now it's giving me problems in my dev and test environments. I don't want to attach the client certificate manually as the web service on production is running without any trouble. For the dev/testing I'm using the following code to work around the validation:

ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(ValidateCertificate);

public bool ValidateCertificate(object sender, X509Certificate certificate, X509Chain chain, SslPolicyErrors errors)
      return true;

I also discovered that this might be because of an old microsoft security patch http://support.microsoft.com/kb/980436.

I have tested this service on machines with and without this patch and the result is the same error.

Calling webservice from the server

I have a sample web service and aspx file. I deployed them to an existing website that contains classic asp files.

web-service: --- using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.Services; [WebService(Namespace = "http://localhost/MyWebServices/")] public class MembershipRegisWebService : System.Web.Services.WebService { public MembershipRegisWebService () { //Uncomment the following line if using designed components //InitializeComponent(); } [WebMethod] public string HelloWorld() { return "Hello World."; } }

aspx.cs file: --- using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.Web.Services; public partial class CallWebService : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { MembershipRegisWebService mrWs = new MembershipRegisWebService(); Response.Write("Calling web service:" + mrWs.HelloWorld()); } }

It runs locally, but it shows an error when running it from the server:

I'm having a doozy of a problem, and can't find a solution.  I have a WFC Web Service installed to a pair of servers, and accessed through a load balancer.  I am accessing the service from an ASP.NET client app, also via WCF.  The Client is not load balanced.

I'm getting an intermittant error:

(Inner Most Exception) System.Net.Sockets.SocketException:  A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond x.x.x.x:80

(Middle Exception) System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server

TCP error code 10060: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond x.x.x.x:80.

I can reproduce this error with about 20% reliability if I execute the exact same page request on the client from 2 browsers at the same time.  When the problem occurs, the successful p

Advanced Basics: Calling All Operators

This month I found an interesting question in my mailbag. It went something like this: "I am writing some code working with points and other drawing objects in Visual Basic® 2003, and I just want to add an offset to a point, effectively moving the point.

Total newbie question: Calling jQuery in an UpdatePanel?

Please forgive this ignorant question - I've used ASP.NET AJAX a good deal but I'm new to jQuery.  Specifically, is it possible to call or create jQuery events on the fly via an UpdatePanel?  For example, calling a jQuery modal or animating a Label (or <div> contained Literal), etc.

If anyone has any advice or could point me to some easy tutorials on mixing ASP.NET AJAX and jQuery, I'd greatly appreciate it.

need help about HttpWebRequest : A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not pro

I am creating an application for bulk mailing. Its on my subdomain.

The functionality i require here is I need to copy an html file located in different subdomains on my production server to my bulk mailing application.

I am using HttpWebRequest for the purpose where I take the url of the page into a text box and create a HttpWebrRequest.

The code is as simple as follows.

HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest) WebRequest.Create("http://mydomainorsubdomain.com/dir1/page.html");

and this is working fine on my local development environment that is in VS2010

but when i put code to production server it is throwing following error.

2010-08-25 15:21:00,845 ERROR Error caught : the details of the error are System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond

Calling a webservice in MVC using jquery works on dev box not prod box

I have a webservice that is part of the MVC project.  I am using VS 2010 MVC 2.0 on Windows 7.  When I run the web application locally the webservice call works flawlessly, however on the prod box using  2008 upgraded with asp.net 4.0 it fails.

I get an error "The controller for path '/services/traxservices.aspx/upDateCustomer' was not found or does not implement IController. "

Is there some type of issue with the settings in the global.ascx or in IIS that I am missing?

Any help would be appreciated.

When running my page and trying to login I get a 500 error. Please find my code snippet hereunder. Can someone please give me a clue as what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

http module calling order

Our site uses urlRewriter http module that does the url rewriting for us.

I want to create another http module that will handle our customize URL redirects. Now I want this new customize http module to be call before the UrlRewriter module (to avoid page not found messages the UrlRewriter generates). Is there a way we can contol the calling order ?

VS2005 calling VS2010 asmx service returns empty string

Anyone have any experience with this?

We are using VS 2005 for the front end, and vs 2010 for the web services part (asmx), not wcf yet.

Web service works just like the vs2005 when run locally, no problems.

Connecting to it from a test app returns an empty string. Connecting to a 2005 app doesn't!

Anyone run into this before or have a suggestion? Surely vs 2005 can connect to web services from a later version?
