Net Framework 1.0 Error 1904 during setup mscoree.dll H-result 2146232576

I cleaned off all my .Net framework files with the .Net framework cleaner. I then started at 3.5, installed it, went well, installed 3.0, went well, installed 2.0, went well, installed 1.1, went well, then, tried to install 1.0 redistribution package for my windows xp home and it stopped at almost the very end saying ERROR installing 1.0 ERROR 1904 system32\mscoree.dll failed to register. H-result 2146232576. I tried renaming it and installing the 1.0 again but still get the same error. i tried using the IGNORE option, it said it installed but i know the mscoree.dll isn't working. i used the installer cleanup tool also to no avail. i deleted the URTTemp folder and tried a reinstall. This didn't work either. Anyone know what I might can do to get this corrected? I have not done anything myself in the registry. I have used RegCure and registry mechanic but Net Framework 1.0 still gave the error when I tried to install. Any help appreciated. I did read something about 1.1, 2.0,3.0 or 3.5 might have a newer mscoree.dll file and that night be why I can't register the one I have. I need the 1.0 version 3705 though as one of my programs uses it. Also, i am now not able to put any of the updates on my computer. it downloads them but they fail to install. Example, net framework 2.o service pack 2, net framework 3.5 service pack 1, and net framework 3.5 family update. Thanks....

How to setup Query Result Shaping for LinQ to SQL instead of Entity Framework?

Hi, I am new to this, and I am trying to implement a linq query similar to db.Genres.Include("Albums") command from mvc music store using my current DB setup. I realize that the tutorial mentions Checlking the "Include foreign key columns in the method" when creating the tables in ADO.NET, but if I am using LINQ to SQL classes, then how can I obtain the same effect. And how do I use db.Genres.Include("Albums") to simplify my life? Thanks

Getting .net framework 2 not installed, when setup sql server 2005 express, though framework 4 is in

My platform is windows xp professional sp3, on a dell pc.  I want to install sql server 2005 express edition. sql server 2005 express edition service pack 3, download page, published date 12/15/2008, states "Install .NET Framework 2.0 or later", note the "or later".  It also states windows xp. .NET Framework 2.0 download page states windows xp sp2, and I have seen forum postings about a problem when it is xp sp3. .NET Framework 4 (Standalone Installer) download page, date published 4/12/2010, states windows xp sp3. I download .NET Framework 4, i.e. dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe, and install it. I download sql server 2005 express edition service pack 3, i.e. sqlexpr32.exe, and run it, and it does some file extractions, and then message "The Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 is not installed. Please install before running Setup." Is this the expected behaviour?  Would I be better using sql server 2008 express edition? Other info: There was a .net framework 1.1 on the pc to begin with, but I removed it, and ran the sql exe again and still the message. There was and is a sql server desktop engine on the pc, though it's never been used.  Thank you for any help you can give with this. ----Philip

Opening vs2008 solution file in vs2010 - Framework targeting issue

Hey guys,

I am opening a vs2008 .sln file inside vs2010 - the conversion wizard shows up, and it goes through with no errors other than a pop up warning me that this solution needs .Net Framework 3.5 and that it is "not installed on this machine" - I chose to target it to .Net Framework 4.0 and to try to switch it later as an option.

I then bring up Properties - >Application -> Target Framework and in the dropdown, .Net Framework 3.5 is not listed - which is strange since in "Add or Remove Programs" I can see .Net Framework 3.5 is installed on my machine.

How can I get Framework 3.5 to show up in the dropdown so I can target this project to that framework?

Can't say I've ever done this, so I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong.

Update: I tried Method #1 here (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/robvi/archive/2004/02/17/75272.aspx) and I cannot see v3.5 - so where did it go? I'm confused why it is not in my registry but shows up in "Add or Remove Programs" list...

where to get the setup.exe bootstrap sample for .NET Framework 3.5

I've been looking all over MSN and I can't find this link. The one that I could find looks like it was for version 1.0 and it falls over since it can't find the dotnetfx.exe.  Which is now called dotnetfx3.5.exe instead!  So is there anywhere I can get the correct version of the setup.exe bootstapper file?

(Is it just me or is it extremely difficult to find stuff on the MSN website!)

Possible security issue with .NET framework and web services

We have a web service that runs fine on our Windows Server 2008 R2 test system.

However, it does not work on a production machine at a customer site.

It is installed using:

  • WISE installer 32 bit
  • .NET 2.0 Framework
  • Machine has UAC disabled

Some observations:

  • Communication between client and server seems to work fine
  • Can't write to c:\ProgramData
  • Can't connect to database using ODBC connector.
  • Can't log messages to the Windows Event Log (we get an exception that we don't have privileges)

This makes us suspect security settings on the machine. Enabling trace logs on the ODBC Manager shows no errors. The Windows Event Viewer doesn't indicate any problems.

Can anyone suggest what is wrong? Is there a tool we can use to discover the source of the problems.

.NET framework 4 installation issue. - Not working in SCCM task sequence

Hi ,

I am facing two issues with .NET framework 4.

1. Initially I have wrapped the .NET framework 4 redistributable with command lines /q /norestart using wise script editor. This does work manually, but when placed in the SCCM task sequence, it fails without any information.

2. To the above issue, I tried using MSIs for .NET framework 4 instllation. But the MSIs are not getting installed individually. On install they says problem with this windows installer.

Any ideas?

VS2010 setup using Framework 2.0 failed

When I tried to deploy the project using DotNet 2.0 using VS2010, it failed and no error message. I make sure all the Framework checkboxes have 2.0 checked. In the prerequisies window, I only checked the installer 3.1. In the Detected Dependencies, The Microsoft .NET Framework is 2.0. The development and target PCs are both XP - SP3. When I unpack the .msi file in the target PC and run the application, it crashed.

The only way to make that work is to use VS2005 to perform the setup. Of course, copying the files over to the target PC directory works. So, the VS2010 setup is unpacking something at the target that makes it crash. VS2010 fixed the code-behind fatal bugs and I cannot go back to VS2005 or VS2008.

I also noticed that you need to install 3.5 before you can use 2.0 in VS2010... Anybody knows what is going on ?

Framework 3.5 SP1 Setup.exe reported error

I tried to install the Framework 3.5 SP1 on a Windows 2008 production machine.
I downloaded the complete package, then ran the installer.

During installation, Setup.exe reported an error (please see below). However the installer terminated normally and said that the installation was successful. It seems that the Service Packs for 2.0 and 3.0 installed successfully at least I see in the setup event, the two events

The Windows update "Update for Windows (KB948609)" was successfully installed. (Command line: ""C:\Windows\system32\WUSA.exe" "e:\b22b327ec39ca64c03f5f8\wcu\dotNetFramework\dotnetmsp\x86\NetFX2.0-KB948609-v6001-x86.msu" /quiet /norestart")

The Windows update "Update for Windows (KB948610)" was successfully installed. (Command line: ""C:\Windows\system32\WUSA.exe" "e:\b22b327ec39ca64c03f5f8\wcu\dotNetFramework\dotnetmsp\x86\NetFX3.0-KB948610-v6001-x86.msu" /quiet /norestart")

When I look at "Programs and Features" in the Control Panel, I see Framework 3.5 SP1 installed.
I am lost. What is installed and what not? The problem I had is :

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 has encountered a problem during setup. Setup did not complete correctl

Excuse my poor english.

Hi, recently i tried to run nLite program. Apparently it needs microsoft Framework 2.0 to run, and it just doesn't install. It says wait a minute or two while the setup intializes or something and it goes like "Setup has encountered a problem etc. etc." "Send report" "Don't Send ...". So i'm stuck because i want to use nLite to reformat my system, because i think there is a virus in it. By the way, on my PC they're not letting me go on microsoft sites, the virus i mean. I can only run the PC in safe mode without it freezing on startup at normal mode.. So i need help to install framework 2.0.

I'm using Windows XP Professional SP2 Version 2002, (i don't know if the rest is really needed, i just copied from my computer properties): Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2310 @ 1.46GHz, 0,99GB of RAM.

Any help? :)

Update to .NET 3.5 SP1 Released (Dynamic Data Entity Framework Issue Fixed)

An update to .NET 3.5 SP1 has been recently released, you can search for KB959209 in the Microsoft Knowledgebase. Here is a direct link to the article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959209. This update is important for Dynamic Data users that are using the Entity Framework as it corrects the problem that the RTM version of Dynamic Data had with certain types of relationships with Entity Framework. This can been seen with 1->0..1 and *->1 relationships which may generate error messages like "'System.Web.UI.WebControls.EntityDataSourceWrapper' does not contain a property with the name 'Orders.OrderID'". Download and install this update to correct this issue.

Download issue - Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1.

To whomever can assist.

I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me troubleshoot the download issues I am having with Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1.
