Problems downloading .NET Framework

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework
My OS is XP Home. I only have .NET Framework 1.1 SP2 and .NET Framework 4. I am missing versions 2.0 through 3.5.  I need to load Visual Basic 2008 on my computer but kept getting an error because .NET Framework 3.5 could not be loaded. I try to download 3.5 but found I only have .NET Framework 1.1 SP2 and I am missing versions 2.0 through 3.5.  My computer continues to give me errors when attempting to download these versions but I think it spans from not having the original .NET Framework 2.0.  I cannont find the just 2.0 online. I had downloaded version 4 with no problem previously, and because this was for a class I'm using a trial version of Visual Basics 2010 which works fine but about to end. Does anyone know where or how I can load this original 2.0 version?  Appreciate any help. Jaycatt30

Internet Explorer problems downloading files from IIS 6 - Response.AddHeader("content-disposition",

I'm retrieving a file from my DB, storing in a Byte[] variable. In my local development environment, Visual Studio 2008, the file download works great in all browsers (IE, Firefox, and Chrome). But, when running on external IIS 6.0 web server, IE 7 and IE 8 browsers will not properly download files: the indicated file name seems to default to my ASPX page "[template].aspx" , not the file name that I specify in the Response.AddHeader(...).  FIREFOX and CHROME download all files, all MIME types JUST FINE with the correct file name. This problem occurs only in IE? (Several clients all tested with same results.) Is there a disconnect between IE and IIS 6.0 in how the response headers are interpreted? Is there another header attribute needed for IE?My code:    Response.Clear();    Response.ClearHeaders();    Response.Buffer = true;    Response.ContentType = f.MimeType;    Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=\"" + f.Name + "." + f.Extension+"\"");    Response.Charset = "";    Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache);    Response.BinaryWrite(f.File);    Response.End();Thanks.

.net framework 3.5 SP1 installation problems on Windows 7 x64

Hi everyone.  I'm having a big trouble installing .net framework 3.5 SP1 on my Windows 7 Professional (x64) OS.I've tried to install it but only thing it says is 'installation error' at the end of installation.  Strangely, it doesn't even give me an error code.I thought it could be having problem with previous versions of .net framework so I tried to varify this with the tool I've found on MSDN, and I only realized I couldn't verify any of .net framework product on my OS.  (neither of 2.0 3.0 or 3.5)This doesn't really make sense because I've freshly installed Windows 7 a week ago and not letting me install the program.  I've tried by doing web installation and tried to download the whole package and install it but still no luck.plus, i am not even sure if this varification program really works.. I wiped out 1.0 and 1.1 using cleanup tool and reinstalled 1.1, and it's still saying it is not installed.  And it even says i have 2.0 3.0 and 3.5 installed.......which i wasn't able to do..  any thoughts?[10/22/09,14:46:50] Beginning of new SetupVerifier activity logging session[10/22/09,14:46:50] Activity log file location: C:\Users\Jin\AppData\Local\Temp\setupverifier_main_10-22-09_14.46.50.txt[10/22/09,14:46:50] Error log file location: C:\Users\Jin\AppData\Local\Temp\setupverifier_errors_10-22-09_14.46.50.txt[10/22/09,14:46:50] Build created on October 19, 2009[10/22/

Problems with .Net Framework 1.1

I uninstalled .Net Framework 1.1 to attempt to correct an issue I was having with some programs using instructions I found on one of these forums and not only did it NOT resolve the issue but it resulted in quite a few applications that I use on a regular basis to no longer function such as my Media Center will no longer pull up.  I tried reinstalling but have met with ZERO success so far, I recently found a few posts recommending that I uninstall all my .Net Framework and then reinstalling them but in light of my current problem being caused by uninstalling, I'm a bit wary of uninstalling anything else.  Any assistance in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

Multiple database support with Entity Framework

One of the features introduced in Entity Framework is being database independent. Which mean each database provider can support Entity Framework by implementing its provider.

This feature allows you build applications independent from the underplaying database provider. In this post I'm going to show how to build an application that support multiple databases using same conceptual model made by Entity Framework.

Creating a Generic Entity Framework 4.0 Repository

With .NET 4.0 right around the corner, I thought it would be cool to download Visual Studio 2010 beta 2 and start playing around with the next release of Entity Framework.

The initial release of Entity Framework came with a great deal of criticism. To make matters worse, there was a large uproar when it was rumored that Microsoft would be abandoning LINQ to SQL, in favor of Entity Framework. This was because, at the time, many developers felt Entity Framework was an inferior technology to LINQ to SQL. To set things right, Microsoft proactively moved forward with improving Entity Framework, in time for the 4.0 release of the .NET Framework. This is good news because my initial impressions, so far, have been nothing but positive.

Top .NET Performance Problems and how to avoid them

Every time I work with one of our .NET customers to help them with managing their application performance I come across the same problems as seen with other clients before: lots of ADO.NET queries, many hidden exceptions in core or 3rd party .NET libraries, slow 3rd party components, inefficient custom code

ASP.NET 4.0 Dynamic Data and Many to Many Entity Framework Entities

I did not play much with Dynamic Data controls in VS2008 and just made a cool discovery in VS2010 Beta 2. This may not even be new, but as I'm sitting 30,000+ feet over the Atlantic ocean, I don't have access to VS2008 at the moment to check.

Entity Framework 4 Tips for WinForms Development

I've been recently working on a smart client (WinForms) application backed by Entitiy Framework 4 (EF4) on Visual Studio 2010. In this blog post I will try to give you some tips regarding some limitations and points to be careful about EF4.

Bar Code Scanners with the .NET Compact Framework

Summary: Learn how to make your applications use bar code scanners in a generic way-ndependent of the specific bar code scanners that are used on different devices. Using the design patterns Façade and Factory, the implementation not only supports multiple bar code scanners, but it also makes it easy to add support for other bar code scanners. After a brief discussion about bar code scanners and the bar code scanner pattern, a download code sample, written in C#, demonstrates the use of the pattern and technologies.
