DataBinding + Extension Method Problem

Inside my repeater I'm calling an extension method like so:

<asp:label id="fileSize" runat="server" text='<%# ((UploadedFile)DataBinder.GetDataItem(Container.DataItem)).Size() %>' />

he above is giving me an "Object not set to an instance of a object" exception inside the extension method. If I comment the above expression out, it works fine, and the items are binded wtih no problems. Any ideas?

DateTime formatting extension method

Notes: I also updated the pieces of code at http://www.extensionmethod.net/Details.aspx?ID=393

In current project, I get some troubles in DateTime class, about format the date time object with the pattern specific string and the current culture, so I decide to code some extension methods in DataTime class in .NET library. And I think it's it very useful if somebody can use it as right way. I take some idea from this link and coding the enum class for its. After that I also used the Lambda Expression for pass the parameter into the DateTime formatting method. It's really easy for read code. And below is my implementation for that:

+ DateTimeFormat enum class:

    public enum DateTimeFormat

DrawArc() ... an extension method to DrawingContext

Considering the lack of a DrawArc() method of DrawingContext, here is one that does the job as an extension method of DrawingContext...

    /// <summary>
    /// Draw an Arc of an ellipse or circle. Static extension method of DrawingContext.
    /// </summary>
    /// <param name="dc">DrawingContext</param>
    /// <param name="pen">Pen for outline. set to null for no outline.</param>
    /// <param name="brush">Brush for fill. set to null for no fill.</param>
    /// <param name="rect">Box to hold the whole ellipse described by the arc</param>
    /// <param name=&q

ASP.NET MVC: Showing dates using DayCalendarPage extension method

DayCalendarPageIn my events web site I need to show event dates in lists so users can easily see them. I decided to use day calendar view like shown on image on left. As there are more than one view where I need this functionality I wrote HTML extension method that outputs day calendar view based on current date. In this posting I will show you my extension method and show you how to use it.

The Decorator Pattern & Extension Methods

The decorator pattern provides a formal way to add new functionality to an existing type, without sub-classing. First question: What is wrong with classical inheritance? In and of itself, nothing is wrong with the good old Is-A relationship. It is very common to derive a new class from an existing base class in order to override a few virtual members, and add a pinch of new functionality.

Thinking about new C# method prototypes: object as dictionary

I recently had to write a small Flickr API. I know many .Net API for Flickr already exist but I needed one for a Silverlight application. Whatever, it's only about building some querystrings so I did it by myself. It's been an opportunity to think again about a classical question: how to pass parameters to a method ?

Imagine you have a generic method to call some Flickr functions.

The Decorator Pattern & Extension Methods

Numerous design patterns exist in the software world today, and ultimately nothing is preventing you from making your own (if people buy into it or not is another question). Furthermore, there is no 'master list' of patterns that all developers agree upon. While this is true, if you pick up any book on the subject, you will find a set of very common patterns most programmers agree are very useful. Many of these patterns were first formalized in the seminal book on the subject, Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software (aka, the Gang of Four [GOF] book; not to be confused with the UK punk band of the same name).
