Update document using claims based service

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

We have a document in a doc lib we need to update a field on the document.  We are using a claims based environment over the internet through ssl.  What is the best way to do this?  A rest service post?  Client side linq to sharepoint?  Any ideas/blogs/walkthoughs would be most helpful.

Claims-Based Apps: Claims-Based Authorization with WIF

Over the past few years, federated security models and claims-based access control have become increasingly popular. Platform tools in this area have also come a long way. Windows Identity Foundation (WIF) is a rich identity model framework designed for building claims-based applications and services and for supporting active and passive federated security scenarios.

SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 3 (KB955706) update is successful but repeats installin

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 3 (KB955706) (update 1 of 1) This update seems to be stuck in a loop of installing, each time it successfull installs acccording to automatic updates. Then says it requires installing again straight away. This has been happening for 10 days now. I have tried a manual update from the website rather than automatic updates, no change. Any ideas why? Have posted in Windows update which is where I think the problem lies but they have suggested I post here also.

Update SharePoint List item using UpdateListItem web service with javascript

I'm using the Custom_AddListMenuItems function in a CEWP to add a menu item to each list item to Archive that item. This is achieved by updating a choice field in the item to 'Archived'. I'm trying to do this using the web service UpdateListItem web service to update the item using Javascript, but I can not find the correct code that updates the list item. I'm using this code:     var ctx=currentCtx;     var ciid=currentItemID;     var xmlHttp=null;     if (confirm("Are you sure you want to Archive this item?"))     {         var soapRequest = '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>'+             '<soap:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">'+             '    <soap:Body>'+             '        <UpdateListItems xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/">'+

Claims Tips: Learning About Claims-Based Authentication in SharePoint 2010

automatic logon using claims based FBA??

I have been using a IHttpModule that performs automatic logon on a forms based authentication using a custom membership provider. This has worked well using any .net asp.net application including SharePoint 2007. The IHttpModule listens for the AuthorizeRequest event of the application and if the user isn't logged in it uses the FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(principal.Identity.Name, persistentCookie); to perform the "login". When I tried this on SharePoint 2010 using a claims based FBA, adding my custom membership provider as documented, I ran into some problems. First, the identity name that needed to be set in the SetAuthCookie was not the normal username, it seemed to be on a syntax like 0#.f|membershipProviderName|UserName If I used this instead (replacing membershipProviderName and UserName) with the actual ones, the login seemed to work (it felt like a hack tough and perhaps there is some better way to do this?) After a bit of testing the site the most seemed to work (a plain SharePoint 2010 site), but when I clicked on a list link (like calendar, events or announcements) I was given a servererror as below.   Has anyone any idéas? /Dan   Server Error in '/' Application. <nativehr>0x8107058a</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack>Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object. Can not init SPSite for claims based authenticated site

Hi, trying to write a simple console application i was not able to init a claims based authenticated site with API nor with the Managed Client OM. Opening a site with only windows authentication is working. Running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 and SP 2010 server and logged in as the buildin Administrator account. Administrator is Site Collection Admin. static void Main(string[] args) {     ClientContext context = new ClientContext("http://mypc:300");     Web web = context.Web;     context.Load(web);     context.ExecuteQuery();     ... } throws "The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.". Setting credentials for the context is also not working. or same problem with     static void Main(string[] args) {     using (SPSite spSite = new SPSite("http://mypc:300"))     {         ... throwing FileNotFound-Error. Any idea? Greetings Peter

Claims to windows token service wont start in Central administration

Not sure if this is a bug or some setting I just dont understand but I cannot get the claims to windows token service from manage services to show as started. When I click start I get this error in the event viewer: An attempt to start/stop instance of service Claims to Windows Token Service on server <SERVERNAME> did not succeed. Re-run the action via UI or command line on the specified server. Additional information is below. c2wts (DOMAIN\sp_farm) I have searched and searched for an answer. This thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010setup/thread/6b865ead-970b-4460-9dcf-1cc6d6d8530b talks about needing a connection to the internet, but my server is connected to the internet so i think i can rule that out. Also I have read that c2wts depends on the crypto service. I have run this command with no success: sc config c2wts depend= cryptsvc I can start the c2wts service through services.msc and it is succesful. But central administration still shows it is stopped. I have also re-run the installer in repair mode, and re-run the initial configuration wizard, maintaining all of the same settings as the previous installation. That didn't help. Basically, I'm out of ideas and I cant find much about this on the web. Any ideas?
