Implementing localization(Multilingual) for Validation Messages

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

We are using the OOB validation options in infopath, and would like to implement localization for the error messages displayed. We are using resource files to provide multilingual functionality for all the controls such as labels...etc, but are not able to use the same for Validation Messages.

Could someone provide us an option for implementing Multilingual for Validation Messages in Infopath 2010.

Localizing implicit type validation messages

I'm having trouble with the implicit type validation for model properties. The validation/error messages (for numeric fields explicitly) are printed in English (I want them to be printed in Swedish). Does anyone know how to override those messages? Or can I turn of implicit type validation?

The error message I'd like to translate/localize is "The field {0} must be a number."

LINQ : Implementing IN and NOT IN

I got tried of typing

var result = from s in source

Implementing Continuous Scrolling UI Pattern in ASP.NET

When you have numerous records to show, we have to resort to Paging. There is a better alternative to display voluminous data (especially read only data) while providing a better user experience & also making efficient use of server bandwidth - the Continuous Scrolling or Infinite Scrolling UI Pattern. Read on to know more about how to implement Continuous Scrolling UI Pattern in ASP.NET with a GridView.

SharePoint Localization Tips and Tricks

In this article, I'll round up the scattered pieces of information about localization in SharePoint, provide some tips and tricks and leave you with a working approach to localization. However, before we work on meeting the challenge, we should understand it.

Localization in ASP.NET 2.0

New Auto-Culture Handling in ASP.NET 2.0
ASP.NET 2.0 comes with a new auto-culture handling feature to make the task of localizing your application easier. Auto-culture handling can be enabled for each page by including the Culture="auto" and UICulture="auto" attributes in the Page directive of each page. Once enabled, the ASP.NET runtime will automatically map Accept-Language headers to CultureInfo objects and attach them to the current thread (unlike ASP.NET 1.x, where you need to do this manually). As a developer, you simply need to prepare the resources for the different cultures you want to support in your application. ASP.NET will then do the work of loading the appropriate resources for each culture as they are needed.

Implicit Localization
Let's use Visual Studio 2005 and create a new website project by going to File -> "New Web Site.." Name the project C:\Localization. For this application, I will use the Visual Basic 2005 language.

Server side validation of Fileupload control not working

I've tried this method in my code behind to try and validate that the Fileupload control has a file or not. I get the error message the the event "Server Validate" cannot be found. Can anyone tell why? Thanks.

Public Sub CustomValidator1_ServerValidate(ByVal source As Object, ByVal args As System.Web.UI.WebControls.ServerValidateEventArgs) Handles CustomValidator1.ServerValidate

' Get file name

        Dim uploadAvatar As FileUpload = DirectCast(AdvertisementForm.FindControl("uploadAvatar"), FileUpload)

        Dim UploadFileName As String = uploadAvatar.PostedFile.FileName

        If UploadFileName = "" Then
            ' There is no file selected
            args.IsValid = False
            Dim Extension As String = UploadFileName.Substring(UploadFileName.L

How to: MVC URL localization...

Hello all,

I have an MVC 2.0 application which currently has 3 different languages.(English, French, Spanish).
Although I've found many articles on how to localize an etnire MVC application I still haven't found an example on how to localize the URLs.

Assuming I have the following English URL:

When I switch in either French or Spanish, I'd like to have the following:
French: http://www.mywebsite.com/Produit
Spanish: http://www.mywebsite.com/Producto

How does one achieve such a task?
If anyone cares to show me a link or demo, that would be great!

Thanks in advance!

VS 2010 HTML validation "in CSS" option - where the hell is it?

In VS 2008 there is a very useful feature of background HTML validation - it checks if CSS class name is valid i.e. it exists in one of the linked css files. But VS 2010 Express does not do that any more. And the relevant setting in Options->Text Editor->HTML->Validation->in CSS is not there. Ok, maybe they made it paid for option? VS 2010 Professional? Not there. Or maybe VS 2010 Ultimate? Not a trace.

1. am I blind?

2. they decided it is too convenient to use and removed it?

3. they will "introduce" it in SP1?

What is going on? That one thing made me move back to VS 2008 web developer.

User validation Issue in xlsx file

I am validating user from Login.xlsx file. It was working fine by validating email and password from that file. For testing i got new file same contents of file but added some more user names.

So after that when i validating the user i am getting the following error "Data type mismatch in criteria expression".

But when i replaced the new to old one it is working fine. The contens of both files are the same. So why this kind of error happened.

User messages without hard coding

Hi All,

How to manage user messages to avoid hardcoding messages accross the web application.

set messageTemplateResourceName from resource file in Validation appication block.

  I am using Validation application block in my project and want to set validation message from resource file, but not able to do that. I tried giving the path of resource file in messageTemplateResourceType and name of resource in messageTemplateResourceName. But it did not help as I only receive the message if I have set something in messageTemplate even after setting the resource file.

Here is my code:

<validator lowerBound="1" lowerBoundType="Inclusive" upperBound="250"
              upperBoundType="Inclusive" negated="false" messageTemplate=""
              messageTemplateResourceType="Asurion.jCare.Common.Resources.UIResources.PerilTypeAndDetailsSection, Asurion.jCare.Common.Resources, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null"
              tag="" type="Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Validation.Validators.StringLengthValidator, Microsoft.Practices.Enterpris

Localization not working in class library (composite control)

I have a class library called WEM.portal which used Resource files to localise text in my composite controls.

I store my resource files (eg MyResourceFile1.resx) in App_GlobalResources folder and then refer to them using

MyLabel1.text = My.Resources.MyResourceFile1.MyResourceKey1

This is all working ok until I create seperate files for each language such as MyResourceFile1.FR-fr.resx.

I have implemented this throughout my other web applications but the Class Library doesnt seem to want to work the same way

When I load the page it correctly showes the resourced keys which I have done through the web application BUT the resource keys in the composite controls does not seem to pick up the culture code.

Am I missing something stupid. Ive tried

  • changing the Build Action on the resource file to Content and Custom tool to GlobalResourceProxyGenerator
  • Creating a resourceManager but to no avail

Language Localization

I want to make my website into world's different  laguages.Im very new to it .

plz help

Setting default localization

I ever thought that I can set a default localization if the users one (which is set in the browser) isn't available.

I've implemented my localresource files for localization. The start.aspx.resx contains all texts and elements for German use and the start.aspx.en.resx for English users. When I switch the language in the browser settings from German to English everything works fine and the english text is displayed. But when I switch to an other language which is not German or English, it takes defaulty the german resource files.

I've set

UICulture="auto:en-US" Culture="auto:en-US"

as well, but it didn't assume the .en resource file automatically. (For example when I enter the website and switch the browser language to French or Italian it should take the english resource files.)

Thanks and regards,

Localize framework message from xml validation error

I need to validate an XML through XSD. I am using XMLReader (with XmlReaderSettings and

Validation_EventHandler to do it). Depend on users preference, I would like to change the output message generated by  Validation_EventHandler in french or english.

Any idea on how to perform this?
