Send Document to Repository

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#
I am designing a workflow in Sharepoint Designer 2010 and am trying to get the the workflow to send a document to another library on sharepoint and I believe that "Send document to repository" is the right action to use but I'm not sure how to set it up.  When I select that action I am prompted to put something in the "this destination router" section but I have no idea what i am supposed to put in there.  Clicking on the f of x button brings up a box that I have no idea what to do with.  I have done some research on how to use this action and I havnt found any help on it and sharepoint designer's help feature is virtually useless.  I have very little experience using Sharepoint Designer so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Add columns in Approve/Reject screen of Document Repository

We have a document repository in Sharepoint 2010 and we want to add few columns from the Document Repository in the Approve/Reject screen that appears during approving or rejecting a document added.

Please let me know, the steps to achieve this.

Multiple templates for Document Repository

We have a document repository in SharePoint 2010 and we need to have multiple document templates for it. From the Document Repository > Advanced Settings > Document Template - it only lets us have a single document as the template.

We would like users to have the option of selecting from multiple document templates, when they are creating a new document in the document repository.

Customize the Document Repository look and feel

We have setup the Document Repository for a Sharepoint 2010 website. Please let us know how we can customize the UI of the document repository. Our customers are looking for a a simpler version of the document repository (w/o the ribbon, check boxes, etc)

Using the "Send To" function to copy SSRS reports (.rdl) from one document library to another

We are trying to use the "Send To" function to let users get copies of SSRS reports, but still retain the ability to roll out changes by updating the original.  This would help us have "one version of the truth" but still have the ability to copy reports from one SharePoint site to another.  One reason to have the report on multiple sites is to give users the ability to set default values for the parameters.  IT creates one copy and the users configure it to meet their own needs.

Copying the file using "Send To" works.  However, it loses the data source link which effectively kills the copied report.  We have tried this in various forms of permissions and sequences, but experience the same issue consistently.  Obviously, one could re-enter the data source link, but that is not optimal.

We saw the same behavior when we copied the report out of Windows Explorer from library to another.

Is this is a known issue?  Can it be fixed?  If so, how?

Within SharePoint 2007, can one send a document to a 2010 Records Center?

I have a working 2010 Records Center with a good Send To connection within the 2010 SharePoint environment.

I have copied the 2010 Send To URL (http://hostname/records/_vti_bin/OfficialFile.asmx) and created a Send To connection within the 2007 environment.

When I use the Send To in 2007, 2007 tells me that it cannot find or access the 2010 Records Center.

Send email when downloading a file from a document library

I'm setting up a public facing SharePoint site for my company, a software house (did I show my age by calling it that?). We're wanting to put together a list of of software downloads, each item on the list having configured permissions for different groups (such as Group A can see downloads 1 thru 3, Group B can see items 1- 5, and Group C can see all 10 items)

When a logged in group member downloads the file (Send To > Download a copy) or by clicking the litem name, I want to send that person an email, which will contain setup instructions and unlock passwords, etc.

How can this be done?

I've googled and googled, but not been able to find any clues, which is a little unnerving.

A true software developer is one who, when told to 'Go to Hell', sees the 'go to', rather than the destination, as harmful.

Working with SharePoint document libraries

Document libraries are collections of files that you can share with team members on a Web based on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services. For example, you can create a library of common documents for a project, and team members can use their Web browsers to find the files, read them, and make comments. Users with Microsoft Office 2003 can check out and edit the files as if they resided on a local or network drive.

By default, your team Web site comes with a built-in document library named Shared Documents, which is listed on the Quick Launch bar as well as on the Documents and Lists page.

jQuery $(document).ready() and ASP.NET Ajax asynchronous postback

Many call it the ASP.NET jQuery postback problem, but using the technique below should make it no problem anymore. $(document).ready() isn't called after an asynchronous postback. What this means? You lose the functionality that should be executed within $(document).ready() after an UpdatePanel rendered its contents after an asynchronous postback.

Creating a Generic Entity Framework 4.0 Repository

With .NET 4.0 right around the corner, I thought it would be cool to download Visual Studio 2010 beta 2 and start playing around with the next release of Entity Framework.

The initial release of Entity Framework came with a great deal of criticism. To make matters worse, there was a large uproar when it was rumored that Microsoft would be abandoning LINQ to SQL, in favor of Entity Framework. This was because, at the time, many developers felt Entity Framework was an inferior technology to LINQ to SQL. To set things right, Microsoft proactively moved forward with improving Entity Framework, in time for the 4.0 release of the .NET Framework. This is good news because my initial impressions, so far, have been nothing but positive.

SharePoint Document Workspaces for Developers

Office 2003 is being released this month, and a cast of supporting applications is already available. One of these is Windows SharePoint Services 2.0, the free team add-on for Windows Server 2003. If you're not familiar with SharePoint Services basics, take a look at What Developers Need to Know About Windows SharePoint Services. In this article, I'm going to drill into one key place where SharePoint and Office 2003 overlap: document workspaces

Upload a File to a SharePoint Document Library - Part I

The following helper class demonstrates a few techniques that allow documents to be uploaded to a SharePoint document library programmatically without using the API or a custom web service. You don't need to specify a document library name, and it will create any folders specified in the URL as required. File meta data will be updated if any properties are passed.

SharePoint document migration challenges when migrating files and folders

There are several challenges when migrating documents to Microsoft SharePoint. While these challenges can be overcome, they are a real pain if the migration source, content and file systems are not SharePoint friendly.

Send Email from SQL Server Express Using a CLR Stored Procedure

One of the nice things about SQL Server is the ability to send email using T-SQL. The downside is that this functionality does not exist in SQL Server Express. In this tip I will show you how to build a basic CLR stored procedure to send email messages from SQL Server Express, although this same technique could be used for any version of SQL Server.

If you have not yet built a CLR stored procedure, please refer to this tip for what needs to be done for the initial setup.

Send object from one page to another

I want to create object in 1.aspx, and then send it to 2.aspx. This methods are bad, because:

1)Send object with url, like this:

This is not confidential.

Session["field1"] = "12345"; // set
Object foo = Session["field1"]; // get

This is bad too, because in 2.aspx this fields send to textboxes, and if user go to 2.aspx without 1.aspx, he'll see old data.
