SBS Sharepoint Foundation Update

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

I have upgraded Sharepoint Services on SBS about half a year ago to SP Foundation, it didnt end up very well beu we didnt need it until now. Because we werent able to get it into shape regrdless of searching almost all web forums, we decided to uninstall and install cleanly without using previous databases included in SBS, everrything seems to be ok but when Im trying to log on companyweb, it just says that content cannot be found - error 404, and the same is in IIS Sharepoint web site log. So I tried to look into SQL log and really there were errors that NETWORK SERVICE has no access to database, I added NS into logins in SQL and all errors vanished but the problem persists, still 404 error.

Sharepoint AppPool is running under domain admin account so it shouldnt have anything in network service. Anyway I dont see any errors in DB log now but I also I cant see any content on web.

Could someone help pls?

Thank you.

SharePoint 2010 Cumulative Update - Install sequence - Foundation required or not?

For a SharePoint 2010 Server (not Foundation) environment, is it necessary to install the Foundation Cumulative Update as well as the Server Cumulative Update?  (In the same way that with 2007, you install the WSS update and then the MOSS update) The nearest I have found to an answer is here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/sharepoint/ff800847.aspx where it says 'We recommend that you always install SharePoint Foundation 2010 patches before installing SharePoint Server 2010 patches. This best practice ensures that you will always be successful when installing updates.'   In this regard, should 2010 Foundation be thought of as a pre-req, or underlying component, for 2010 Server?   The same question applies to the use of the Updates folder in the install media - for a Server install, should we be extracting both the Foundation and Server Cumulative Updates there, for a correct slipstreamed install?   Thanks.   Rob

SharePoint Batch Update Auto Increment Field Value

Hello All,

I am making use of SharePoint List Batch Updating methodology in order to update the items in bulk. I build the query dynamically for each and every item using StringBuilder and process the data ultimately using 'ProcessBatchData' Method.

Now, I have a requirement where I have to increment a particular field value in the query while iterating through each item for building the query. How can I auto-increment a field value for each item in the batch query?

How to upgrade from Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 to SharePoint Foundation 2010 after mistanely de

I need a detailed instruction on how to upgrade From Upgrading from Windows SharePoint Services 2.0  (SBS 2003 ) to SharePoint Foundation 2010.

Background of the case:

I have all my databases (STS-database and STS_Config) saved but, I forgot to save my Virtual Site )Companyweb site) and I mistakenly re-installed IIS on the SBS 2003, hence  I lost the companyweb site. Is this an issue to migrate to Sharepoint foundation 2010. The Sharepoint foundation 2010 is running on a Microsoft HyperV Server 2008 R2
Also, I have created a Virtual 2003 SRV ENT with Sharepoint Services 3.0 running on it. I also have attached my Databases STS_Database and STS_Config)... how do I get it working like a regular website. I have modified the CNAME record to reflect the new server... http://companyweb - it take me to the new site but it loads a blank page. I did create a new CompanyWeb Virtual site on the VHD 2003 server.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your prompt response. Nelson

Update SharePoint List item using UpdateListItem web service with javascript

I'm using the Custom_AddListMenuItems function in a CEWP to add a menu item to each list item to Archive that item. This is achieved by updating a choice field in the item to 'Archived'. I'm trying to do this using the web service UpdateListItem web service to update the item using Javascript, but I can not find the correct code that updates the list item. I'm using this code:     var ctx=currentCtx;     var ciid=currentItemID;     var xmlHttp=null;     if (confirm("Are you sure you want to Archive this item?"))     {         var soapRequest = '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>'+             '<soap:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">'+             '    <soap:Body>'+             '        <UpdateListItems xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/">'+

So might you know if we got the Enterprise version of SQLServer would that work on the Sharepoint Foundation server or would we need to get another version of Sharepoint? And we're hoping we can get what we need from a TechNet license? Thanks very much BobK

Publish Sharepoint Foundation Server to Internet

Hi guys, first of all I don't want exactly to publish SPF server to Internet, but place it in DMZ and make available from Internet. So I won't have any dedicated web server, only one server with MSSQL and SPF on it. Is there any practices to make it more secure? So far I'm only came up with form authentication... Any ideas or links are highly appreciated!
