Password recovery by entering email not username

I am using the ASP.Net password recovery control.  By default the user needs to enter their username before an email gets sent out to them.

If it possible instead of entering the username, email is used instead?  Alot of my users forgets their username but not email.

Accessing Username, password, roles in xml file

Currently I am storing my username and password (passwordFormat="SHA1") credientails in my web.config.  I would like to figure out how to access them in an xml file that I have stored in my App_Data directory rather than the web.config file because I do not want my application restarting everytime I manually add a user (small list of 5 authorized users for the CMS section).

Here is what my web.config section looks like:

How can I avoid sending UserName/Password for every call?

Hi I am using UserName/Password authentication with X.509 certificate in my WCF application. In this scenario I have to set UserName/Password credentials on every call that means I have to keep UserName and Password somewhere in my client application (ofcourse after user loged in). I am not sure that's a good idea. Does any body know how can fix this problem? I want user to login one time and afte that my client application can communicate securly with my WCF services. Is it possible? Thanks

How to install Claim Based AUthentication

I have installed SharePoint 2010 as Standalone on My laptop. Now I want to extend the site as Claim Based Authentication. Let me know how can I do this?

SP 2010 Form Based Authentication username begins with "i:0#.w|"

Hello there! For the life of me, i can't figure out why SharePoint keeps putting the phrase "i:0#.w|" infront of everyones username / accounts. Both on mysite and portal sites. A quick bing search revelaed that i am not the only one: http://fangdahai.blogspot.com/2010/06/i0w-is-still-there-in-sharepoint-2010.html. Anyone have a solution to fix this annoying problem? Thanks!

Sharepoint Claim Based Authentication Web Service issue

Hi all,

I have Configured sharepoint 2010 foundation to use claim based authentication with sqlmembership provider.

When i try to consume the webservice i get access denied error. The service i wish to consume is http://<server>:25757/_vti_bin/usergroup.asmx.

I tried to find out the issue i cannot consume the service as it redirects me to the login page. I also tried to pass the network credentials but same error. (Server was unable to process request. ---> Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

When i try to consume the same service of another web application (sharepoint 2010 foundation) it works. Only difference between the two web application is classic authentication with NTLM and other is CLAIM based authentication windows (with NTLM) / forms.

Authentication (login - username/password)

I have a website developed in ASP.NET created by someone else, sitting on another server... until now... a simple(ish) setup with login to update content.

The site was zipped up and I was told it would be a simple case of uploading all the files onto the new server.  I've managed to upload the site and it works fine... but I can't access the editing pages as it will no longer accept the username and password when I go to login.

The host server is running ASP.NET v4 and IIS v7.  Hosting is with godaddy.com so I'm also getting used to their way of doing things.

Hope someone can help.

Keyset does not exist WCF +SSL + Username & Password authentication

My hosting is DiscountASP.NET

 I get Error "Keyset does not exist".

Please, see error on page: http://www.healthbucket.com/HealthbucketWCF/wcfUser.svc

Section in my web.config of wcf looks:
<serviceCertificate findValue="www.healthbucket.com" storeLocation="LocalMachine"
storeName="My" x509FindType="FindBySubjectName" />
<userNameAuthentication userNamePasswordValidationMode="Custom"
customUserNamePasswordValidatorType="UsernameValidator, App_code" />

I think there are two errors:
1. CryptographicException: Keyset does not exist
2. The certificate 'CN=www.healthbucket.com, OU=Domain Control Validated - RapidSSL(R), OU=See www.rapidssl.com/resources/cps (c)08, OU=GT10747045, O=www.healthbucket.com, C=IL' must have a private key that is capable of key exchange. The process must have access rights for the private key.]

I ask technical support of DiscountASP.NET and they tell me &qu

Remote copy and execution given admin username and password for remote machine

I have an application (.exe files) that I need to install on remote machine. For this I need to copy .exe file from my machine A remote machine B  and execute it remotely.

I have local administrative privilleges on remote machine.

For e.g. Username & password on remote machine : "remoteAdmin" , "remotePassword".

However this "remoteAdmin" account is not present in my local admin group on my machine A.

Is there a way to do this ?

Also on remote machine B firewall may be on or off.

I tried this using WMI but there were some issues due to firewall.

I can do this using File.Copy method of System.IO namespace but it needs "remoteAdmin" account to be present in my local machine's (A) Administrators group. I have even tried creating new user account and adding to admin goup using DirectoryServices but I don't know how to set domain for the new account.

Also for remote execution I tried using wmic but it did not work when firewall was on. Iteried remotely running notepad.exe. It works if firewall is off but I cannot assume that firewall would be always off.

So , is there a way to copy file and remotely execute them if I have admin username and password for remote machine ( preferable using C++ or C#) ?

 Also I cannot

SharePoint 2010 AD/Claim-based authentication URL.

I have setup my SharePoint 2010 web application to support both Windows AD and ADFS 2.0 authentication, the top site URL is: https://myserver.contoso.com

Every time I access the URL, it asks me to choose which credentials I want to use: AD or Claim, then get access to the SharePoint site - it works fine.

My question is about: can I tell which credentials to use in the URL request? i.e.: https://myserver.contoso.com&credential=Windows to use Windows AD authentication;

or https://myserver.contoso.com&credential=ADFS to use ADFS authentication?

Retrieve data from SQL server based on login username (session data)

I'm trying to make a dropdown list with data available based on the users login name. Heres what I have as my SQL Query in the SQLDataSource:

SELECT Client_Name, Client_ID FROM Client WHERE (Client_Name LIKE '%@Client_Name%')

So say if the login username is "User1" but the database client name is "User1 Steel" I want the dropdownlist to pull "User1 Steel" as the display and Client_ID as the value from the dropdown list.

I dont know how to use the session data!
