We have recently changed user login (username) and not by rename but new logins!
Now I want to move the "old" MySites from the "old" username to the new username!

Anyone has a solution!?

Forms based users being prompted for windows authentication login for My Sites photos in user lists

Here's an issue I didn't see coming for our forms based authentication users.

We have a web application extended to an external url to handle forms based authentication for users outside of our domain. Our setup looks like this...

Internal Users/Windows Authentication - moss.domain.com
External Users/Forms Based - mossext.domain.com
My Site for Internal Users - mysites.domain.com

When our forms based users are accessing user lists, or discussion pages that display user pictures, they are getting a windows authentication login for our internal users (mysites.domain.com) who have populated their my site with personal photo.

How do we fix this?

Login goes to Sql server for users and to sqlExpress for roles

Hi all,I have a site witl forms authentication using te login control. I altered my sql server, I added a connectionstring and used the connectionstring in both, <rolemanager> and <Membership>. That part of the web.config is listed below. The pronlem is that the login control goed to SQLserver to check the users and their passwords, but it goed to the SQLExpress database for the roles..... who can help me because it's driving me crazy!!!!!!<connectionStrings>    <clear/>    <remove name="Conn"/>    <add name="Conn" connectionString="Server=SERVER;Database=DBNAME;User Id =USERNAME;Password=PASSWORD;Integrated Security=False"                       providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>    <remove name="LocalSqlServer"/>    <add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Server=SERVER;Database=DBNAME;User Id =USERNAME;Password=PASSWORD;Integrated Security=False" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>  </connectionStrings>  <system.web>    <membership>      <providers>     &nbs

login fails for (some) users.

Dear All,

My site (asp.net 2.0 c#)  has 3 login fields, Group, User and Password.  I use forms authentication with the following authentication section in my web.config :

    <authentication mode="Forms">
              name =".LoginCookie"

Most of my users can login no problems, but for about 1 in 5 of them, they receive no error message at all and are thrown immediately back to log in page.

Every login attempt is written to a security log and according to that they passed my own inbuilt validation,

track users without login info

Hi there. This should an easy question.

I'm trying to build the chat (it is already built here - http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/WebChatAsp35LinqAjax.aspx)

The only thing I want to change is: remove login control.

Instead of login I want to assign random usernames to people who open my webpage. Also, when somebody closes page and reopens it again in, say 10 minutes, I want this user to have the same username and data.

This is kinda easy, just need to get an idea.

Thank you

MS SQL Server: Disconnect Users From Database - Kill User Session

Enabling Users to Maintain SharePoint Content

When SharePoint is installed as a corporate intranet, there is a considerable amount of effort involved in maintaining the content to keep the site relevant. As we discussed in the first few parts of this series, SharePoint has many built-in features to reduce the burden on the site administrator.

Some areas of the site usually contain less-dynamic information. Internal memos and corporate policies are common examples of this information. One option for this information is to post these documents in a document library. Documents in a library are often stored in a few different formats: Word, Acrobat (PDF), or HTML. Each of these formats has its drawbacks.

Need help redirecting users to personalized page

Hi, first timer here so be gentle.

I've been able to create a cool little website, it's up and running with users logging in and out, I created roles so my administrative team can see sensitive data that's not available to regular and anonymous users.

Now they would like me to create a page specific to each user.  For instance when user A logs in they are redirected to a page that has information that pertains to user A only (like a list of their benefits/ their remaining vacation time). This page needs to be accessible only to user A.

I've watched a ton of the videos but have yet to see one that covers this topic, any help would be great!!!

I thought this would be simple... Trying to create a login does an ajax check before submit

I have the standard .net login control that is working.  (Still learning .net after 15yrs of classic)

What I want to do is OnButtonClick run a javascript function (to do an ajax call to the db to check if login is valid or not) and if it returns true, then submit the form normally, else don't submit. The piece that I can't figure out, is how to correctly override the default click even to hit my JS routine and then submit the form properly afterwards.

Thanks ahead of time

How to modify the login control

I'd like to record more information than the default control allows as well as perform actions with the input when the form is submitted but I'm having trouble figuring out how.

So firstly, if I want to record the middlename for example, how would I do that, and by default, where would it go if anywhere?
When the form is submitted, I'd like to take specific input, such as just the middlename for example, and write some linq to sql code to specify when and how it's stored.
In what event would I put this code?

create user wizard login error message dont show in a message box?

i am using create user wizard and capturing other information within content template when a new user

registers. Some of the textboxes are binded to required field validators.

there is a validation control on the page and ShowMessage box is True.

If they dont complete some of the text boxes then the message box pops Up with the error message.

It does not however include information errors like "User already exists" or Email address already exists

from the create user wizard membership  UserName and Password Textboxes

is it possilbe to hook all of these up so I get one message box with all errors including membership ones?
