Export to spreadsheet fails in certain views

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

WSS3.0 sp2 server with client running Excel 2003 sp3

We have a list based on a calender with just over 2000 items. There are multiple views for this list. When we try to export to spreadsheet it works fine on most views but on one particular view we only get the column headings appearing in the spreadsheet. The view in question is configured for sorting and grouping on the same column - a date column as it happens.

Changing the column used to either sort or group results in export to spreadsheet working fine so it appears to be using the same column to both sort and group that is causing the problem.

If we try to create a similar view (i.e. using the same column for sort and group) on a different list (also based on a calender) then the export works fine.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Document Library "export to spreadsheet" doesn't export all columns in Excel 2003

Hi, we are working with MOSS 2007, Infopath Forms Services, KPIs and Excel 2003. There is a view for some data of the Infopath forms which has to be exported to Excel by our users, but some columns are not exported - without any error message. If I try to export it to Excel 2007 everything is exported as expected, but our users have to use Excel 2003. Any idea?

stsadm export / import custom view / personal view views

Hi, i have to export and import a website with a sharepoint list including all personal views. The personal views are used by the endusers in excel data connections binded to the list.  Loss of personal views during import is not mentioned in the technet discription of export / import command ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766807(office.12).aspx  ) I am actually testing the export / import between two site collections, but always losing the personal views (MOSS 2007 with CU April 2010). This discussion had the same topic http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointadmin/thread/4e299838-72c2-4f56-8dc3-05ba2a2999d9  but with no definite answer. Please tell me if this is by design or what could cause this behavior. Thanks in advance. Boris Boris Schlotthauer

SQL 2005 Server export to Foxpro fails by "default codepage missing"

Hi, I just tried to apply the foxpro driver VFPOLEDBSetup.msi to import and export an old format dbf. First of all no other method is available in this case, as one of the dbf-tables holds about 9 million rows. I don't want to (manually) go to excel and wait for 10 years importing it there, then only to discover i need another 10 years to get it into sql server.   Here's my task at hand: Source: street/housenumber database with approx 9 million rows Task:  Convert it to SQL server database (import DTS)           Change some data Export it back to DBF format. I don't have any problems acting on the first two steps (dts import to SQL 2k5 and changing data) I doooo have some problems with the last part. As soon as i define the DTS through the wizzard, it leaves the "CodePage" blank. However, upon executing it i receive some warnings and finally errors: On the "Setting Destination Connection" action in the final execution progress window: - Setting Destination Connection (Warning) Messages Warning 0x80202066: Destination - housenum [40]: Cannot retrieve the column code page info from the OLE DB provider. Is there any way to remove these two columns without using code ? Is there any configuration settings required for this, to remove it on the fly ? Thanks Ravish Verma

SP 2007 (WSS 3.0) Export of WebPart DataView on list fails

We have created a DataView WebPart on a list in Sharepoint 2007 using SharePoint Designer with the Sharepoint List Toolbar (so we have the Actions button, including Export to Spreadsheet).  When we try to Export to a Spreadsheet (Excel 2003) it fails.  We've tried a couple of different scenarios, we get a different error for each.

If we just create the DataView onto a new aspx page then open the page in IE and try to export the data we get an error box that states and unexpected error has occurred and the data could not be saved.  No spreadsheet is created.

If we create a public view page in Sharepoint then open the resulting .aspx in Sharepoint Designer, remove the automagically created view and replace with a DataView Webpart, then save and reopen the page in IE, attempting the export results in a spreadsheet being created but only the ID numbers exported.  We then get a message box saying that some hidden or read only fields need data but do not have a default value.

As the original list is quite complex and has a variety of different data types we created a much simpler list on a separate subsite and repeated these scenarios, with exactly the same outcomes.

We are using Sharepoint 2007 (WSS 3.0) via Internet Explorer 6.0 on Windows XP SP2 to export the data into Excel 2003 SP3.  This has been replicated on three dif

Unable to Export to Spreadsheet in SharePoint Form Library

Hi All,

I am unable to export SharePoint Form Library view data in a Spread Sheet. Whenever I am trying , I got following error message.

An operation that uses the database driver could not be completed. If the driver is a Microsoft Driver, make sure the driver file isn't damaged, and if it is, reinstall the driver by reinstalling Microsoft Query. For other drivers, contact your database administrator or driver vendor.

Any idea how to solve the problem ?

Sharepoint 3.0 - Export to Spreadsheet - owssrv.dll

Caveat: New to SP, just took over this in the wake of our current sysadm's departure.

So users want to export lists/libraries data to spreadsheet. They get a "To export a list, you must have a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible application." and when you click ok, it downloads owssvr.dll

I have no idea what to do with this, and the lack of information when searching the two subject together do not produce solid information.

Please assist. Working with office2007 on the client machine.

Export Visio Database Table Names to Excel

If you use the Enterprise Architect edition of Microsoft Visio for data modeling regularly, then there is a good chance that at some point you've wanted to export just the table names into Excel. You might want to do this to map logical ERD entities to physical data model tables, track project status by entity, or track overlap between database versions.
