It's been more than a year since my words last floated across the pages of MSDNîMagazine. As readers of my blog probably know, my life's been interesting the past 12 months.

I am trying to join a dimtime table by a refernced join to an orderlines table which is the fact.
(the referenced join was defined in the relationship matrix of the cube ).
The referenced table is the ordersheader which had no measures in it but only used a linking table between those two other.
The join from the dimtime to the ordersheader is done by date and from ordersheader to orderlines by orderid
The problem is that in the cube browser measures are shown as they were multiplied across all dates (like the join was done in a wrong way )
I have created an sql query and the logic is working just fine when quering directly from the DB
What am I doing wrong
I am joining three tables called "SNAP", "TABLE_A" and "TABLE_B" both of these 3 tables are partitioned by DAY_CODE column of type integer.
TABLE_A is about 10 million rows ( about 2 millions per day ), TABLE_B is like 60 million rows ( about 12 million per day ) and SNAP table is just a small table saying what days i have.
So, i am trying to use a query like this:
FROM SNAP S
INNER JOIN TABLE_A A
ON S.DAY_CODE = A.DAY_CODE
INNER JOIN TABLE_B B
ON S.DAY_CODE = B.DAY_CODE
AND A.ID = B.TABLE_A_ID
WHERE S.DAY_CODE = 20100923
Like you can see, i am just using the SNAP table to align the filtering on the partitioned column. The problem is that the partitioned is not selected and somehow all columns of TABLE_B at least are being scanned for what the explain plan tells me. ( It
runs for more than 12 hours and no results ).
If i change the query to:
Please help to get the required results after joining.
Table #volume_2 should take three number from starting and #volume's Vol column should repeat three times.
drop table #Volume
CREATE TABLE #Volume (cnt int, Vol int)
insert into #Volume values (1,1300)
insert into #Volume values (2,1000)
insert into #Volume values (3,1200)
CREATE TABLE #Volume_2 (num int)
insert into #Volume_2 values (2)
insert into #Volume_2 values (3)
insert into #Volume_2 values (4)
insert into #Volume_2 values (6)
insert into #Volume_2 values (7)
insert into #Volume_2 values (8)
insert into #Volume_2 values (10)
insert into #Volume_2 values (11)
insert into #Volume_2 values (12)
My feeling says it's not posible but anyway I am curious if there is at least a workaround for accomplish this.
Basically I am working at my client site and my machine is not connected to the domain. What I want to do is running a web application locally under a domain account, and using the webdev server. The webapp uses the default authentication, windows authentication that is.I tried using impersonation with domain\user & password but I got the following error
Could not create Windows user token from the credentials specified in the config file. Error from the operating system 'Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
I have to mention that the username and the password are correct.
Thanks in advance Iulian
I have a number of tables, whereby I want to join the tables to a parent table. My problem is that I wish to show every row of the table, but only show these rows once. This is hard to explain in text, so I have provided a example table below, which is the
output I expect from the sql below. The #SI is the parent table.
(Note that I have only created the example with 4 tables. The actual number of tables will be more that this).
This is apparently a very common error message, as I see numerous posts about it on these forums. Unfortunately, none of the solutions have worked for me. So I'm hoping somebody knows what is happening in my case.
CURRENT FARM (all in same domain):
Server Web3, Windows Server 2003 R2 (x86) <- WFE, WSS 3.0, SP2
Server Web4, Windows Server 2003 R2 (x86) <- WFE, WSS 3.0, SP2 (also Central Admin host)
Server SQL2, Windows Server 2003 R2 (x64) <- Database server for WSS installation (SQL 2008)
Server SQL5, Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) <- New reporting server (SQL 2008), WSS 3.0 SP2 - unjoined from farm
- Reporting server database is configured in Sharepoint integrated mode.
- All WSS servers are at SP2. I have double, triple, and quadruple checked this. Build on all three servers is 12.0.6425.1000 (as retrieved from Add/Remove Programs and Programs and Features, respectively.)
- No additional hotfixes were applied after SP2.
When trying to join my new server (SQL5) to the existing farm using the configuration wizard, I get the following error...
10/11/2010 19:21:16 8 ERR Task configdb has failed with an unknown exception
