Can use the web parts but using Business data in Lists comes up empty

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

I am connecting my MOSS 2007 Application template "Call Center" to my CRM to pull the accounts.  I have created the XML definition and it works in both Application Definition Designer (I can execute the GetAccounts->AccountFinderInstance and see the data) and in the Web parts.  Ultimately what I wanted to do was make a sharepoint list using Business Data so I can link a customer(an entity in Sharepoint, defined as a list) to an account in my CRM (by using business data list to connect to the external data).   I am wondering if there is something unique I need to write in the XML to allow the linking of the data to a list.  I currently have these methods:

GetAccounts, GetSpecificAccounts, AccountIDEnumerator

I have an AccountID Identifier and no Actions.  Is there a built in method needed to use business data in sharepoint lists?

I have minimal XML and C# experience and as such was hoping to get this working without having to crate custom interfaces.

My XML ADF came from http://vspug.com/ssa/2007/05/10/ms-crm-and-sharepoint-2007-integration/

I removed everything except the account and modified the entries for server and initial catalog.

There are no errors in the creation of busi

Cannot access Business Data (and other) web parts

I've created a BDC model in Visual Studio and I'm able to create external lists (using that ECT) in Sharepoint.  However, I've had problems displaying and associating the data in my external lists.

I've since upgrade to a trial version of Sharepoint Server 2010 Enterprise assuming the business data web parts will help solve that problem.  However, even through the Central Admin and other tools indicate the upgrade was successful, I cannot access the business data web parts to display my lists...

Do these web parts have to be enabled in some way to access them from a web part page or in Sharepoint Designer?

I'm running a development environment on Windows 7 x64.  I'd appreciate any help to get past this problem.

Thanks, KBW

Displaying SharePoint lists in Web Parts

When you create a built-in or custom list in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, Windows SharePoint Services creates a Web Part, a basic building block of a SharePoint site, to display that list. These Web Parts are called List View Web Parts. Windows SharePoint Services stores List View Web Parts in the site collection Web Part gallery. (The site collection Web Part gallery is the most central gallery of Web Parts for a work group. By default, the gallery name is the name of the site, such as "Our Team Site Web Part Gallery." )

Empty Website Data Source windown

Hi all,

I am Visual Web Developer user and facing a problem when I am creating a local report (.rdlc) file.

I am using Business objects as the Data Source for this report. It was working perfectly until all the items in the Website Data Source window suddenly "disappeared". The "Add New Data Source" button on this window is also disabled. Now the window is just like a blank box only. And I can't continue working with the report file like this...

I have tried undoing what I did before but it does not help at all...

Any reason for this to happen? There is no sign or something at least indicating what is wrong.

Please help.

Business Data Error: System.OverFlowException

I have a Business Data Catalog file I've uploaded to connect to our back end Firebird DBMS through ODBC.

The SharePoint server is MOSS 2007 x64. The web front end server(s) all have an x64 Firebird Engine and ODBC driver with verified connectivity to Firebird.

When I use one of the methods, I can see connections being made to our Firebird server and the query being passed. I know the query returns results (it's a stored procedure with no parameters), but I get the following error "An error occurred while retrieving data from MROTest1. Administrators, see the server log for more information" in IE. If I look in the server logs, I see (12\Hive\Logs)

Exception handed to HandleRuntimeException.HandleException System.OverflowException: Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow.     at System.Data.Odbc.OdbcDataReader.GetData(Int32 i, SQL_C sqlctype, Int32 cb, Int32& cbActualOut)

Business Data Column cascade

Good afternoon, I would like to know if is possible to have two business data columns linked to each other. This is the scenario that I want:

BD Column 2 called City with all the cities based on the state selected on BD Column 1

Regarding Business data catalog in SharePoint

Hi All,

I am using business data catalog to display the records present in the Active Directory based on the user selection of samAccountName. Since the number of records present in Active Directory are more than 3000 the user has to iterate through each page to get to a particular record. I want to add a kind of filter to my Definition file that user can search for a particular samAccountName from the list of samAccountName displayed in the business data list web part. I am using office server SDK by microsoft to generate the application definition file.

Any help regarding this will be appreciated.

How do you create an association between two different data sources in BDC web parts?

I have a SQL Server database with the customer details and an authenticated web service providing contact details of the selected customer.  How do i connect them using web part connections to retrieve and display the data.

Or is it possible to create a Primary key-Foreign Key relationship between two tables in different databases with a common column?

Combining data from 2 lists, then summing a field

I have 2 lists, one is a contact list (client, client title, address, etc.), the other is a list of meetings with these clients (client name, type of meeting, date, etc.).  The 2nd list has multiple entries for the same client.  I am trying to create a report that combines the data in these lists and displays them like this:

Client--Client Title--MeetingType1--MeetingType2

In addition to combining the list data, I also need to break up the Type of Meeting field and sum the number of different types of meetings for each client.  I added the 2 lists to a linked source, then inserted the data into a DVWP adding data from the 2nd list as a joined subview.

I tried this: xsl:value-of select="count(/dsQueryResponse/Rows/Row[@TypeOfMeeting = 'MeetingType1'])" but it just returns 0.  I'm not sure if that's the correct method though as I think it will return a count of ALL the rows, not the current row.  Any ideas would be appreciated!
