BCS Searchable

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

Hello all,

I'm developping a BCS with Visual Studio that connect to a MySql Database Server. I have an entity with a Read Item and Read List Method. These two ones work fine and the "Business Data List Web Part" shows me all the data correctly.

I also want to allow these data to be crawled. So I added the ShowInSearchUI proprerty in my Lob Instance and I also added the Root Finder property in my Finder method instance. Nevertheless, when I want to add a new content source, I still have an error message displaying that no external data source is found. I tried to create a BCS with SPD & SQL Server and, for it, the content source is ok. I tried to export it and compare the bdcm file with mine, but nothing seems to be different except the Type of the BCS (Database/DotNetAssembly).

Does anyone has an idea of how to add my BCS in content source ?

Thanks

Building a Searchable Phone Directory with Windows SharePoint Services

I want to continue to build out the intranet site we've started in our previous articles. A standard item in every intranet is a staff/employee list. Most companies implementing Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) are large enough to have a database that contains all employees. We will use the aggregation features of SharePoint to include data from this database into our intranet.

SharePoint 2010 Date Column Not Indexing (or not searchable)

I have a 2010 Record Center.  Indexing and search functions seem to be working.  However dates do not appear in search results.  The column is marked for indexing.  Crawling is working and I do get other text type results.  I have tried switching the column to Date & Time in the detailed column settings.  With or withouth the time, it does not come up.

There is an interesting twist.  On SOME, the search returns the AllItems.aspx PAGE (not the documents) with the date highlighted in the result item description.

SSRS 2008 R2 - Parent Child Hierarchy - Searchable Parameter List

Hi dear,

I'm, workin at the moment on a report for my company. I have a problem with searching in a parameter list which is based upon a parent child hierarchy. The users asked me for type in the first few characters to search the parameter faster (like in this post ) , because it's a large hierarchy with about 1700 values. In a "normal" list ("linear" without  a hierarchy) this feature is available.

So my question:

Isn't it possible to search in the parameter list in general if this is based upon a hierarchy?

Are there any possibilities or suggestions to get this feature?

Or is this the only way to do this:

Thanks in advance!
