"KPI indicator" web part error

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

I created a KPI list in a Report Center. It works fine and displays traffic lights as intended. However, when I insert the KPI web part other places in the site collection the indicator name appears but for the "Goal", "Value" and "Status" fields the following error appears: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: webNode

It seems that the problem is not unique. In my search for answers I found this post describing the exact same situation: http://suguk.org/forums/post/3856.aspx. Unfortunately, there was no answer to this post.

I hope someone out there can help me.

Thanks in advance

Web Part working fine on the top-level page but 'Not Safe' error on lower-level pages.

Hi,

I have created a Web Part which reads and parses the SharePoint logs in order to display usage information of the page it resides on.  The Web Part works perfectly on the top page, reading and displaying the information desired.  However, once the Web Part is added to any page lower in the site heirarchy (sub-page) the same Web Part throws the following error:

Of course the current version of the Web Part is in the SafeControls list on the web.config.

The Web Part was originally designed to return site activity only for the top default.aspx page and worked fine but started to fail in the manner described above once I added the following line of code to return a SPCo

Adding a web part to "My Content" page causes error

Under a "My Content" personal page, a user (me) chose to add the "SQL Server Reporting Services Report Viewer" web part to a page. This was repeated with a test account and the same thing happened. Is there a way to fix this? Prior to this, adding a Content Editor Web Part seemed to work just fine.

Web Part Error on a clean SP2010 install in Document Center

On a clean SP2010 install I created a Document Center site.On the main site page under the "Upload Document" web part there's another web part, which displays this error: Web Part Error: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. The type is not registered as safe. [UnsafeControlException: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. The type is not registered as safe.] at Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.WebPartImporter.CreateWebPart(Boolean clearConnections) at Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.WebPartImporter.Import(SPWebPartManager manager, XmlReader reader, Boolean clearConnections, Uri webPartPageUri, SPWeb spWeb) at Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.SPWebPartManager.CompressWebPartNoSave(Boolean isClosed) Is this normal? Or is my installation somehow corrupted? And what is this web part and how can I register it as safe?

Membership web part 'Object Expected' error

I have placed a Membership Web Part on my 'My Site'/'My Content' page and everything was working just fine until the number of memberships supassed the total number that the control is set to display. When this happened, a link appeared at the bottom of the web part with the following wording 'Show 8 additional memberships'. When I click on this link I receive an 'Object Expected' javescript error. When I look at the code that is generated on the page the <a></a> tag for this link appears as follows ... <a class="ms-vb" id="1SPS_MEMMICSRCHRES_Link" href="javascript:ShowHidePrivacyRow('SPS_MEMMICSRCHRES','1', '1SPS_MEMMICSRCHRES_Link', 'Hide 8 additional memberships', 'Show 8 additional memberships');"> When I do a search for the ShowHidePrivacyRow() function it does not appear on the page and I can not seem to find it in any of the SharePoint out of the box .js files either. Could this be the cause of the 'Object Expected' error? If so, how do I solve this and why is an out of the box web part causing javascript errors. This is something I would expect from a product that is still in Beta, not a production release.

Content Query Web Part Error

Hi,I get the following error when i try to add a ContentByQuery.webpart using SharePoint Server 2007:   "Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer. If the problem persists, contact your Web server administrator."   I've seen a lot of people having this problem when they aren't on an admin account, but I am, and this error happens before I can do any configuration at all to the webpart.   The webpart didn't show up in the webpart list at first, so I added it from the webparts gallery. The actual name of the part is Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.WebControls.ContentByQueryWebPart.Is this the wrong kind of webpart or what seems to be the problem? I don't have much experience in Sharepoint since before, as you might can tell.Help would be VERY appreciated, thanks in advance.

Why do I get a 401 error when calling a WCF service from a web part?

I have a SharePoint 2010 web part and WCF service deployed to a web application using Kerberos authentication. The service was developed based on the walkthrough from MSDN with the only difference that ClientCredentialType = HttpClientCredentialType.Windows so that Kerberos is used. The web application is being reverse-published through ISA. However we've never had an issue with this before. We've also disabled the loopback check on the server. When the web part calls the service, a 401 error occurs with the following exception message: The HTTP request is unauthorized with client authentication scheme 'Negotiate'. The authentication header received from the server was 'NTLM'. I configured Fiddler on the web application running the web part and found that both Kerberos and NTLM authentication headers are being returned: HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.5 SPRequestGuid: 541e724c-85a7-47a0-b045-827e1c50793c WWW-Authenticate: Negotiate oXsweaADCgEBoQsGCSqGSIL3EgECAqJlBGNgYQYJKoZIhvcSAQICAwB+UjBQoAMCAQWhAwIBHqQRGA8yMDEwMDkxNDA1MjY1NlqlBQIDDgespgMCASmpDBsKREVDUy5MT0NBTKoXMBWgAwIBAaEOMAwbCnNwX3dlYmFwcDE= WWW-Authenticate: NTLM X-Powered-By: ASP.NET MicrosoftSharePointTeamServices: 14.0.0.4762 Date: Tue, 14 Sep 2010 05:26:56 GMT Content-Length: 0 Proxy-Support: Session-Based-Authentication Why then is the Kerberos authentication not a

Error code -2068578304 When Installing Express SP1 x64 as a Part of Visual Studio 2010 Installation

Howdy! I was installing the VS 2010 on my server running Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 and all of a sudden the setup finished with " Setup completed, however, there were failures reported installing optional components. " The final status is success. The left-hand pane of the finish page reads as: The following component failed to install: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Service Pack 1 (x64).   Leaving alone the fact why setup executed the custom action that tried to install SQL Server Express Edition and Compact Edition when I just asked it to install SQL components (which presumably should be SQL SMO and DMO libraries), I would like to understand what had happed to Express install.   Inspecting the .\Logs\dd_error_vs_vstdcore_100.txt file gives the following record:   [09/16/10,16:06:51] Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Service Pack 1 (x64): [2] Error code -2068578304 for this component is not recognized. ASP.NET Security Vulnerability Error Handling Project Part 3

In ASP.NET Security Vulnerability Error Handling Project Part 1 , we discussed implementing a project that utilizes the suggestions made in Scott Guthrie's post on ASP.NET Security Vulnerability . Even after Microsoft releases a patch for this security vulnerability, this working project will still be valuable for generating your error messages and sending emails. I showed how to setup the web.config file, add the sleep delay, and optionally display the error to the screen for developer debugging...(read more)

ASP.NET Security Vulnerability Error Handling Project Part 1

After having read Scott Guthrie's post on ASP.NET Security Vulnerability , I decided to take my existing error handling code, update it with his suggested sleep delay, and put it into a separate VB.NET Visual Studio project to share with others. In my project, you may optionally display the details of the error on the page if you update the code to set the debug flag to true, for instance, if the developer is logged in. I also send the error message and site specific details to the developer via...(read more)

Unspecific Web Part Load error

I cannot figure out why I get the following error when attempting to load/preview a web part.  I think it must have something to do with a bad name reference, but I've reviewed all my calls to other files/assemblies and can't figure this out.  Also, I cannot break-point it since it appears to be failing in a .net control namespace prior to getting to any of  my code:

Error viewing SSRS Web part

Hi,

I've got some SSRS reports which I've uploaded to my site. I can view these reports just fine in the SSRS viewer, but when I put it into an SSRS webpart, the following happens. The report loads just fine at first with the default parameters, but when I try to change the parameters and re-run the report, I get the following webpage error:
