SSRS SPIM subscriptions

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

Is it possible for a report subscription to be executed with the subscriber's windows authentication credentials?

We have a need for a single report to have sensitive information available to high level personnel in our organization.  We need for that data to be blank for normal users.

The report works wonderfully well when the user clicks on it within th SP report library.  The sensitive information shows up for the VP, but not for the normal user.  When we have tried to do a subscription, however, because SSRS SPIM requires that the credentials be stored, I am not sure what to do.

We have setup an unattended SSRS user account.  We have other reports that do not require security, so we are using a SQL Server login for those and those subscriptions work great.

Win 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2, SharePoint 2007 and everything is patched up to the latest releases and service packs.  No hot fixes have been applied.  IIS 7 is in place and working well.  We have verified that Kerboros is working the whole way through.

As always, your help is greatly appreciated in resolving this matter.  Thanks!

SSRS 2005 SP3 - Instr function with Global Variable fails in Subscriptions

Hi I have a very simple expression in a text box in my report:  INSTR(Globals!ReportServerUrl,"Report").  This expression should return the integer value of where the string "Report" appears in the Global variable for the ReportServerUrl.  Simple enough.  This works fine for generating the report directly through report manager, and in my case returns a value of 20. However when run as a subscription and emailed to myself the value returned is 0. This suggests that the search string does not appear in the Global variable. In the reportserver config file the URLroot tag contains the correct server address - http://myserver/reportserver. Does anyone know why i should be experiencing this issue with my subscriptions?  Your help would be much appreciated! Thanks Guy  Guy

Using Google SMTP server (smtp.gmail.com) when configuring subscriptions unders SSRS 2008

Hello All, I have read thru numerous posts and have reviewed several links with no luck.  I am trying to use gmail smtp servers (smtp.gmail.com) to configure SSRS 2008 to send email.  It's running on Server 2003 Standard SP2. No Exchange server, we use gmail. Error message I receive is "Failure sending mail: The report server has encountered a configuration error. Mail will not be resent." Here is a copy of my RS Email Config: <Configuration> <RSEmailDPConfiguration> <SMTPServer>smtp.gmail.com</SMTPServer> <SMTPServerPort></SMTPServerPort> <SMTPAccountName></SMTPAccountName> <SMTPConnectionTimeout> </SMTPConnectionTimeout> <SMTPServerPickupDirectory> </SMTPServerPickupDirectory> <SMTPUseSSL></SMTPUseSSL> <SendUsing>2</SendUsing> <SMTPAuthenticate></SMTPAuthenticate> <From>myemailaddress@gmail.com</From> <EmbeddedRenderFormats> <RenderingExtension>MHTML</RenderingExtension> </EmbeddedRenderFormats> <PrivilegedUserRenderFormats> </PrivilegedUserRenderFormats> <ExcludedRenderFormats> <RenderingExtension>HTMLOWC</RenderingExtension> <RenderingExtension>NULL</RenderingExtension> <RenderingExtension>RGDI</RenderingExtension> </ExcludedRenderFormats> <SendEmai

SSRS 2008 R2 Subscriptions Tab Missing From Report

We are running SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard This server has been upgraded from SQL Server 2008 Standard and previously from SQL 2005.  Since the upgrade we have noticed that the Subscriptions Tab is no longer available from within reports.  I can still subscribe to a report from the report manager page by selecting subscribe from the drop down.  Our report server fulfills the criteria for the tab to be available (We have a mail server configured,  Permissions on each report are correct and the credentials are stored in the datasource) and it was available before the upgrade.  Since our end users do not access the report manager page but link to each report directly we need this tab to be enabled.  Is there some other setting we need to change to enable this?

SSRS Schedule Subscriptions - SQL Server Agent Job Name

We are beginning to use SSRS a lot and have noticed that when it creates the SQL Server Agent job for a subscribed/scheduled report in Report Manager the name it generates is a "gibberish" GUID (.i.e. 437D4E5B-CB2A-421B-B84F-B54C9D8BD52A).

Looking at the SQl Server Agent job there doesn't appear to be any way in looking at that jobs properties that tells you which Scheduled Report it is running.

Is there any way thru a script or otherwise to find this easily?

Pass paramaters to SSRS Subscriptions using VS2005

Hi,

Newbie here. I have created SSRS reports and built a user UI to run these reports. Now when creating SSRS subscriptions in report Manager, is it even possible to programmatically pass the delivery method (email or file share), To email address, scheduled time and date, etc from my front-end UI to the Report Manager?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Data driven subscriptions need to use multiple "From" addresses - SSRS 2008

Is it possible to create a data driven subscription that supplies the from address based on which brand of my company is sending out the email? Or even if I'm representing a single brand, I need to use different email addresses such as customerservice or accounting or system.admin, etc. This cannot be a rare situation, what do all of you do to address this concern? Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks,

Anand

SSRS - Subscriptions - Can I tell a report substription to save the report to a specfic folder based

Version: SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard - SQL Reporting Services

SSRS - Subscriptions - Can I tell a report substription to save the report to a specfic folder based on a field value in the report?

The report has a field called TestID. This value changes everytime the report runs for a new Test. For each new Test, I want to be able to save the report to a folder on my C drive that represents the TestID being processed. When you choose "Save to File System" you have the option of specifiying a location. Can that location be changed based on the TestID of the report being generated? Something like, "C:\MyReports\" + @TestID + "\".

Question regarding Subscriptions in SSRS 2005

I have a question regarding subscriptions in SSRS 2005.

We have development (reports_dev)  and Production (reports_prod) environments .

I created a subscription in the Production environment for a report, and ticked the Include Link so that I can get the link of the Production environment reporting services of the report.

I am getting the email but in the email its showing the link of Development environment. (http://reports_dev/reportserver................)

So my question is where can I find this information and how to change it to the correct Production environment link http://reports_prod/reportserver ..................

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bablu...........

How to change text in columns in SSRS?

I need to create a complex report and export it to Excel.

In the first column header, text is displayed as "Hide Daily Columns", but I need the text to change as "Unhide Daily columns" when I click on it and when the text changes the columns under "daily" header (I have 3 columns under this header) present in the report shud be hidden and only weekly columns shud be visible. Any ideas please. I am new to SSRS and tried out many ways but didn't get it.

Is Conditional Subscription possible in SSRS 2005?

Hi Guys,

Is there a way to set up a subscription that will send e-mails based on the contents of a report? For example, I want to schedule a daily subscription that will only send an e-mail if the report contains data, otherwise it will do nothing for that day. i.e If the report has more than one row, it should send the mail otherwise it should not send the mail.....

Is it possible in SSRS 2005 or is there any other way to do it???

SSRS 2005 "Mixed" Authentication Mode

I have a web application where users can authenticate using either SiteMinder or Windows domain accounts.  This is actually configured as two separate virtual directories within IIS 6.  Both applications need to use the same instance of SSRS.  Is it possible to configure the SSRS web application so that if a user is authenticated by SiteMinder it impersonates a Windows account, but if they are already Windows-authenticated that account is used instead?
