SSRS 2008 R2 Reportbuilder 3.0 and MOSS 2007

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

Hi all After installing integrating SSRS 2008 R2 with Sharepoint 2007 we are trying to implement the click once functionality for Report Builder 3.0 so that clients can download Reportbuilder. However I keep getting the following error: -

The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.

Reading through various articles most notably: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365173(v=SQL.105).aspx and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281309.aspx It seems the problem lies in the fact that the computers lie in different domains and the account being passed is that of the local client machine.

I have tried to implement the anonymous access as per the second article but this still fails with the same error, and the article is really only for native mode installs. Does anyone know a way around this when using Sharepoint Integration?

My clients will be accessing from the web so having then in the same domain is not an option and neither is anonymous access for the entire site as it is required that they authenticate.  This used to work with SQL 2005 SSRS and Reportbuilder but not for SQL 2008 R2 it seems.

Thanks for any help

SQL 2008 servers and MOSS 2007 with SSRS

I need help figuring out the limitations in a multi-database server environment and MOSS 2007 installation with SSRS.  Here is the run down:

  • I currently have MOSS 2007 server with backend on SQL 2005, which also acts as the SSRS server.  In addition I have another SQL 2005 server where business data resides and against which most of the SSRS reports run.
  • Future plan (over which I don't really have a say) is MOSS 2007 with backend on SQL 2008, which will remain to be the SSRS server.  The second SQL server with business data will be migrated to SQL 2008 R2.

Questions: does this architecture requires SSRS 2008 add-in or SSRS 2008 R2 add-in (integrated mode)?  Will there be an issue of building SSRS 2008 reports that go after SQL 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 data mix?

Issue with toolbar when loading the RDL (upgraded to ssrs 2008 R2) via report viewer in MOSS 2007 se

Our front end server is Office SharePoint Server 2007 and the RS is SSRS 2008 R2 (native mode).

The toolbar is different when loading the same RDL (upgraded to SSRS 2008 R2) through report viewer and report manager. In report manager, the toolbar is color blue while when displayed through report viewer the color of the toolbar is light brown/yellow. Color blue indicates it is using the latest version of SSRS while the other color for previos version. Aside from that, the font of several texts in a table has increased to one point when viewed via report viewer compare to when viewed via report manager.  Is there an existing fix for this?

SSRS 2008 R2 and sharepoint 2007 report builder problems

I upgraded our enterprise sql server 2008 to sql server 2008 r2 last weekend.  Along with this i installed the report builder 3.0 on the servers as well and the updated ssrs add in for sharepoint.  The upgrade went fine, no errors that i could find.  The problem is now when i go to a library that has the report builder content type enabled and click report builder report under new it does not load report builder 3.0.

I updated the custom report builder url in central administration from /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_2_0_0_0.application to /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_3_0_0_0.application

however when i do click the new report builder report it kicks me over to http://company.com/ReportServer_MossEnt  which itemizes out each individual sharepoint site in the farm.

Is the integration of ssrs 2008 r2, sharepoint 2007 and report builder 3.0 work?  did i install the wrong version of the report builder add in?  The above is the only problem i am having now.

all servers are server 2008, 64 bit and moss 2007 enterprise with sp2 & april 2010 cu

Workflow with instantiation form in VS 2008 for MOSS 2007

Guys. I have a MOSS 2007 install, using VS 2008.

I am trying to create a workflow in VS that simply does the following:

On Start, goes to an instantiation form. This collects one field of data. When this is submitted, the workflow updates a couple of fields, then finished. Sounds easy huh.... It sure is in SPD, but in VS it isn't so easy. I am also following Robert Shelton's blogs on this (if you have seen them).

So I have my workflow project, and for the pages, am putting them in their own folder  in the LAYOUTS within 12 hive.

I am getting an error of

Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at InstantiationForm_InstantiationForm.serializeInstantiationFormDataToXML() , but I can't debug it (even when attaching to W3WP.exe).

My aspx page code:

Utilizing Entity Framework 4.0 in MOSS 2007 with Visual Studio 2008

I am trying to create a webpart using VSeWSS 1.3 in VS 2008 and utilize Entity Framework 4.0 .

I am able to do it in .NET 3.5 but i am unable to create a 4.0 solution in VS 2008 to replicate steps for 4.0 .

Can this be done, if yes then how?

Your help will be really appreciated.

MOSS 2007 Services Not Starting After Adding 2008 R2 WFE to 2003 R2 Farm

In preperation for our 2010 upgrade we have been migrating our 2003 R2 infrastructure to 2008 R2. Our prior environment was server 2003 R2 DB server running SQL 2005 and one 2003 R2 WFE. We migrated the DB server to 2008 R2 and SQL 2008. The next step was to add a 2008 R2 WFE and then decommision the 2003 R2 WFE.

Setup was successful on the 2008 R2 box. However, in CA the services on the 2008 R2 WFE show "Starting". The CA service is the only service that shows "Started" on the 2008 R2 box. The Document Conversions Launcher Service, Document Conversions Load Balancer Service, Windows SharePoint Services Search and Windows SharePoint Services Web Application show "Starting". The Windows SharePoint Services Administration does not display a status.

What step am I missing to get all of the services running on the new 2008 R2 WFE so I can turn off the 2003 R2 WFE? I don't see anything in the error logs.

Upgrade from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 from SharePoint 2007 SSRS 2005 integrated mode

I"m attempting to upgrade from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 R2 x64 Enterprise on a server running Windows Server 2003 x64 Enterprise, SharePoint 2007 Enterprise, and SQL Server 2005 and SSRS 2005 Enterprise running in integrated mode.

I installed the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP2 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint Technologies from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=35c3a13f-4b5e-4d4a-86e4-07ee307b9638&displaylang=en.

When attempting to install Report Builder 2.0, I get the error "Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint products and technologies is not installed."

When I try to run a report (existing 2005 reports already deployed), I get the error: "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object." The log has repeating ReportingServicesService.exe errors: #20015: Cannot open "Resources.en-US.resx": no such file or folder, and: Localized resource for token 'ManageDatasetCaching_Desc' could not be found for file with path: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\Template\Features\ReportServer\ItemCustomActions\ecbExtension.xml" among other things.
