Can a calculated value be based upon existing calculated value fields?

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

So I would like to confirm something. Can I have a calculated value be based upon existing calculated value fields? Example....

Qty   Amount   Total

Sub Total

Total would be a calculated field (qty * amount) and then would like to sum all of the totals and have that be the sub total.

Appreciate your help.

Calculated Date Fields

I'm trying to calculate whether a delivery is on time or late and by how many days. Is there a way to format the column so it show's the result in the number format as opposed to showing up as a date? Negative numbers don't export into excel well.

Optimize Calculated Measure containing COUNT EXISTING

Hi, My goal is to change the text color of all cells that contain aggregated values. Currently I achieve it like this: I COUNT the members of all attributes of all dimensions. To be multi-select-safe I am using the EXISTING keyword. If the members count of at least one dimension is not 1 than the background color of the cell is changed. CREATE MEMBER CURRENTCUBE .[Measures].[SingleCellSelected]   AS iif ((COUNT (Existing ([Dim1].[Attr1].[ Attr1].MEMBERS ))=1) AND (COUNT (Existing ([Dim1].[Attr2].[Attr2].MEMBERS ))=1) AND (COUNT (Existing ([Dim2].[Attr3].[Attr3].MEMBERS ))=1) AND (COUNT (Existing ([Dim2].[Attr4].[Attr4].MEMBERS ))=1) AND (COUNT (Existing ([Dim3].[Attr5].[Attr5].MEMBERS ))=1),1,0),   VISIBLE = 0  ;    SCOPE ([Measures].AllMembers ); FORE_COLOR (this ) = iif ([Measures].[SingleCellSelected]=1,0,16744448); END SCOPE ; This approach works but it performs badly with attributes with many members. Do you have any idea how to optimize this? Thank you!

Calculated Fields and Lists.. do tell!

Ok, so I have a massive Excel Spreadsheet with some lookups and calculated fields.  I need to port this over to a SharePoint list.   I'm guessing for something like this the Import Spreadsheet function won't cut it.. and that I have to rebuild the spreadsheet essentially from scratch and start from there. Is this the case? Once I create the columns as I want them, can I still port over the information (data) in the spreadsheet or am I essentially pooched when it comes to porting that data over?    Thanks!   J

Calculated Value based on a Checkbox field

Hi All:         This should be quite straightforward, but for some reason...         I implement a calculated value with this expression: =IF(fieldName="Yes",1,0) and the data type returned from this formula is a number with 0 decimal places...         Something particular about this, is that the fieldName field is a checkbox.         It doesn't work, I only get 0s for all the values (Yes or No).         I tryed again changing to =IF(fieldName="Yes","1","0") and data type returned string, but I get the same result...         Can you realize what I am doing wrong?... It's just that I see it pretty well...         Ok, thanks.Acaspita

Types of calculated fields in a query

Hello, I have a question about how the SQL server engine determines the types of calculated fields. For simple calculations I assume it's based on the types of the fields composing the query as they are defined in their tables, but what about a calculated field in this form, for example: isnull(field-name,-99)? Is there a way I can change the engine's selection in the query? Thanks.

How to sum up InfoPath calculated fields

I have a repeating table with calculated fields on each row.  At the end, I need to sum up all these calculated fields into total.  Which total is also a calculated field to sum up 2 calculated fields in the repeating table.  The total never show anything after data entry.  How can I sum up total from the calculated fields?  For example: QTY 1 of a Computer would cost $1000.  In the repeating row, I will allow customer to fill in multiple rows.  A field named line item total is a calculated field named EXTCOST which is set to QTY X Computer = $1000.  At the bottom of the form, I would like to sum up EXTCOST to get the Grand Total Cost.  The Grand Total Cost is fomat as SUM(EXTCOST) which is zero at all time. Please advise. Brian.

Please Help with Defining Calculated Measure based on Dimension Members

Hello,

The issue looks pretty simple yet I got stuck. I want to define the measure [NR Var] as [NR]-[F NR] for years/months/dates before 2009 and [NR]-[FI NR] for 2009 and on. I am using [Year]-[Month]-[Date] hierarchies in the cube. I have defined scope:

Scope ([Measures].[NR Var], {
descendants([Date].[Year - Month - Date].[Year].&[2004], 2, self_before_after),
descendants([Date].[Year - Month - Date].[Year].&[2005], 2, self_before_after),
descendants([Date].[Year - Month - Date].[Year].&[2006], 2, self_before_after),
descendants([Date].[Year - Month - Date].[Year].&[2007], 2, self_before_after),
descendants([Date].[Year - Month - Date].[Year].&[2008], 2, self_before_after)});
this=[NR]-[F NR];
End Scope;

but it does not work for some reason. If I get rid of DESCENDANTS function, it works but applies the scope only to the YEAR level. Another problem with using SCOPE is that it affects [NR Var] only yet I have other calcs derivative of [NR Var] which I want the scope to affect as well.

So I ideally I would like to have something like:

CREATE MEMBER CURRENTCUBE.[Measures].[NR Var] as

case when {
descendants([Date].[Year - Month - Date].[Year].&[2004], 2, self_before_after),
descendants([Date].[Year - Month - Date].[Year].&[2005], 2, self_befor

Sharepoint calculated fields?

Hi all,

I have a quick question for you in relation to sharepoint calculated fields.

to enter in the status (not started, In progress, Completed, Deferred, Waiting on someone else)

Adding Calculated fields to a databound control

I need a form that displays three columns drawn directly from a database (no problems here) as well as two fields that require some complex calculations.  Not only am I lost as to how to incorporate the calculations into the control, I don't know exactly how to write the calculations. I am working in Visual Web Developer 2008 with Vb.NET.

The first of the two fields should take the sum of all payments made by a given customer and divide it by a DailyMembershipRate, returning a DaysPaid variable. It should take this variable and a CustomerSince field for that particular customer and calculate a PaidThrough field.

The second of the two columns similarly requires the DaysPaid variable described above. It should subtract the CustomerSince field from the current date and return the value in days, giving a MembershipDays variable. Finally, it should subtract MembershipDays from the DaysPaid variable, again returning a value in days, and then multiply this by the DailyRate value for a Credit/Deficit field.

I realize this is a lot, but I haven't been able to find any documentation either online or in VWD or ASP.NET texts on this topic. I could really use some fellow user input. I would really appreciate any help or general direction you're willing to offer. Thanks a

Calculated fields with cube filter

Hi,

We have a simple calculated field in a cube that looks like this:

[Measures].[Value] * [Measures].[Factor]

This works great when we slice it year by year in rows. The problem is when we use year as a filter in the cube browser (BIDS) we always get the same total, no matter what years we have selected.

How can we make the filter work with calculated fields?

Best Regards

1 calculated measure based on variable dimension?

I have a situation where I have a fact that has multiple dates. I have a calculated measure that is a running sum of a column (Profit) by SalesDate. I would like that running sum to work on any of the date columns in the fact table so the user can use the same calculated measure...

Is this possible? If so can someone post some sample code that might achieve this?

Thanks!

Craig

Get the total of calculated fields

Hey guys I kinda need your help on this.

I have a field called: amount
I have a field called: Costs per item (different per item)
And I have a calculated field called: Total Costs

Now I want to know the Total Costs of all items.
So in SharePoint Designer 2007 I made a custom listview and though I could do something like "sum($Rows/@Total_x0020_Costs)"
To bad its returning a NaN (Not A Number).

I think I know why it's doing this, but I don't know how to solve it.
Any Idea's?

SharePoint calculated field based on other list values

Hello Everybody!

I have a repeating list that seems like that

List 1

Title    Number

=========

A        10

B        11

A        11

B        9

I need to create a list with a field that contains each different titles from list 1 (A + B) and another column with the sum of the numbers associated with A or B in list 1.

List 2

Title     Number

==========

A         21

B         20

My problem is that I don't know which method using to do that.

Calculated field can only use list field (not external list), infopath can get this but I don't know how to do it.

I wanted to know if someone has an issue other than developing. Because my client doesn't want to pay for a development.

Thank you very much!!!!

Validation rule on fields with calculated values

Using Infopath 2010.

I used the rules wizzard to add a rule to a field that has a calculated value property and I tried eveything to get this to work. Is this rule suppose to work.

Check calculated value field (week1)- validate as error if greater than 7.

Here is the rule:

Condition:

Week1 > 7      and
Week1 is not blank

Rule Type:

Validation

I expected this to work.

Appreciate confirmation that is is suppose to work.

Hide a calculated member output based on condition

Hello:  New to SSAS.   Is it easy to alter this caluculated MDX to HIDE or not make visibile the output(Average_Response) if Respondents are < 10?

However, I only want to Hide the value.   It still needs to be used for aggregate calculations.

Thank you!

CREATE MEMBER CURRENTCUBE.[Measures].Average_Response

AS [Measures].[ResponseGiven]/[Measures].[Respondents],

FORMAT_STRING

Aggregations based on Dimensions dragged for Calculated measure from different fact table Using MDX

Hi,

 I am a newbie to Mdx, i am working on education domain. I have a requirement to calculate student counts based on different fact views.

Especially for state,district and school levels we created three different fact views based on applying some conditions on original fact table.

Now i am using only one calculated measure named "Student Count" in my cube. My requirement is, when i drag my district dimension student count count based on district dimension should appear in my measure, if drag both districts and schools together then school facts student count should appear in my count, if i didn't drag any of the two dimensions then state level count defaultly aggregated.

For this, i thought write an mdx basing on dimension i am dragging, so i started with scope function for getting a different fact view based on different fact view,

Scope([Districts].[Districts],[Mesures].[Student Count])

this= ([Districts].[Districts],[Mesures].[District Student Count])

end scope;

like wise for school dimension and so on, but i am getting same value for both of the cases.

could any one help me out in getting solution for this. Is there anyother way other than creating new cubes for each level.

Thanks in advance. Any suggestions are appreciated.
