repeating sections (InfoPath 2003 and SP 2003)

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

Rookie here - still using Infopath 2003 and SharePoint 2003.  I have a simple form, trying to use a repeating section to capture vendor names associated with a process.  Insert item works fine but when submitted to my SharePoint form library I'm only seeing the first vendor selected and not subsequent vendors added through the "insert item" option.  I'm sure this is something amazingly simple I'm missing but I haven't been able to find an answer despite searching the web for several days.

Also, if anyone has ideas for setting a unique file name using some type of record counter that would also be useful.  Thanks!

InfoPath: Turn User Input into XML with Custom Forms Using Office InfoPath 2003

Office InfoPath 2003 is a new Microsoft Office product that lets you design your own data collection forms that, when submitted, turn the user-entered data into XML for any XML-supporting process to use. With an InfoPath solution in place, you can convert all those commonly used paper forms into Microsoft Office-based forms and end the cycle of handwriting and reentering data into your systems. Today organizations are beginning to realize the value of the mountains of data they collect every day, how hard it is to access it, and are striving to mine it effectively. InfoPath will aid in the design of effective data collection systems. Here the author shows you how to get started.

Overwriting Existing InfoPath 2003 Forms

I'm having a big problem in my Sharepoint Environment.

So far I've created a form in InfoPath 2003 and successfully published it to a Form Library. It's also submitting correctly (at least at first).

Now after I added a couple forms, let's say three forms with unique file names, and then I open the second one, make a change and submit it again, it disappears from the "All Items" list. I can still see it sitting in the "Explorer View", but it's missing in the other. Now when I try to "Fill out a new Form", it either won't show up in the list or it will show up but with the column fields that have been populated previously.

We're using WSS 2.0 and InfoPath 2003.

I used this guide to create the unique filenames: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/sharepoint/SharePointSubmitInfoPath.aspx

In my view, the issue lies in trying to overwrite existing files and not appearing in the list.

Any help is much appreciated !!!

Thanks in advance.

Accessing code in InfoPath 2003 forms from Visual Studio 2005

Can vbscript code contained in an InfoPath 2003 form be accessed from VS2005 on a machine running Office 2010? We are testing Office 2010 our our PC's and the custom task pane code that works just fine on PC's running Office/InfoPath 2007 does not run on the test PC's. I've been reading that the vbscript code in the form can't be edited directly when opening the form in InfoPath 2010, but that's not what I'm trying to do. I want to access the vbscript code through the .Extension property of the XDocument object from client side javascript code on an .aspx page like we have done for years. The existing code, which runs perfectly on PC's with Office/InfoPath 2007,  looks like this ... var xDoc = window.external.Window.XDocument; xDoc.Extension.UserLookupDone (userid); When run on PC's with Office/InfoPath 2010 the code throws error "Class doesn't support Automation". Are we trying something that is no longer possible? Any help is appreciated.

InfoPath 2010, Multiple Repeating Sections have same name, Diff data connections using same SQL Serv

I've created an InfoPath 2010 form that has three Repeating sections and each one uses a different data connection but all three connections use the same table in SQL Server... "Accounts".  Now you might ask why I would do this? Well I need different sets of data in each section and it all resides in the same table in the repository. Also, sometimes one section will not have information and I do not want a bunch of blank fields displaying in the repeating section. So I split the data into separate sections. Now here is the challenge for you guru's out there. :) I want to use one column in the 3rd repeating section  to refer back to another column in the first repeating section.(for referential integrity) Unfortunately since they both use the same table in the database they possess the same name under advanced view:  myFields/dataFields "d_:Accounts". In fact all three of my repeating sections have the same name based upon the database table used in the data connection. In the SQL statement I attempted to rename each of the connections via the statement. I have not tried to give the table an alias in the statement yet. Will try that one next. 1. Is there a simple way to rename the repeating Section from "d_:Accounts" to something else so that  they are each unique? (Without using backend code as I've only used InfoPath/SP/S

move infopath forms from SP Portal Server 2003 to 2007

I am a newbie to SharePoint. Please let me know if I didn't explain my problem well...

We built the new SharePoint server 2007 on a different physcial box from the old server 2003. There are huge amount of InfoPath forms in form library on the old server. I was told that: to get these forms moved over to the new server 2007, we have to save the forms and re-publish to the new server one at a time. This will be really time consume and also loosing the attributes of the original forms, the date it was created and modified etc.

I would like to see if there is a way to move one form library at a time, and just copy the forms over; not publishing them again.

Many thanks!

Moss 2007 and Infopath 2003 client

System config:

SharePoint 2007 SP2 - 64 bit Standard edition

2 WFE, 1 APP/index,  Clustered SQL DB Servers (SQL 2005)

Issues is with Infopath forms saved to a document library (NO FORMS SERVICES ENABLED - MOSS Standard license), no code behind, just XML based form with a number of fields in it linked to an xsn that is located on another server entirely.

Client machines are IE 6 Infopath 2003

When form is opened by an owner - works fine, client opens no issue

When form is opened by a contributor - unless checked out first or if the "Require checkout before allowing editing of file" is disabled works fine

When form is not checked out to contributor or if the user if a viewer the error is:

"Infopath cannot open the following file:<filename>.xml. The file does not appear to be an infopath form ."

Show details:

"The processing instruction in the file is missing or invalid"

I tried a couple tests, I logged into Windows as a user who had viewer rights and then logged into MOSS as a user who has owner rights. Issue still happens. So I am assuming there is a second call being made by the InfoPath client using the windows identity and integrated auth.

If I download the file to my desktop it opens just fine. I cannot determine what ch

Question about a custom InfoPath 2003 Query

I have searched the web and youtube but cannot find anything. I have published a InfoPath form to a SharePoint list, and created a "Receive" connection. I need help creating the search to pull data using 2 dropdown boxes and a Query button. Here are the steps. (this is NOT a web form, just a standard form)

1. The user will choose Q1, Q2, Q3 or Q4 from the 1st dropdown box.

2. Then choose Submitted, Review, or Stage3 from the 2nd dropdown box.

3. Then click the Query button.

4. Then I want the results to be displayed in a repeating table with controls. (which I already have setup)

Any help to build the query logic would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your time!''

WSS 3.0 infopath opens in 2003 not 2007

I have loaded an infopath 2007 form into our sharepoint (wss3.0).  I keep getting an error when I try to open the form from the document library.

The form template was created with a newer version of InfoPath.
This form template was created by InfoPath version 12.0.0.

I do not have infopath 2003 on my system only office 2007 so I am confused as to why it is defaulting to 2003 and giving me this error?

InfoPath 2003 - Populate Data Field based on text field from secondary/different data source.

I have a form where the main fields are populated based on the results of a query field.
Ex, Main Data (SQL) Source:

Fruit         Color
Apple       Red
Orange     Orange
Pear         Green
Banana     Yellow

Secondary Data Source (Sharepoint List)
Fruit         Code
Apple        1001
Orange     1002
Pear         1003
Banana     1004

What I would like to do is create form fields that will automatically populate based on the contents of the text field.
Ex,  (text field)   Please enter your fruit of choice:   [ Apple ]

(Field 2 - from main SQL data source)          The color of your fruit is [ RED ]

(Field 3 - from secondary Sharepoint List data source)  Your fruits code is  [ 1001 ]

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Outlook.Application in Infopath 2003/SharePoint 2010

I transferred our form library from SP2003 to SP2010. Everything works except for when I try to submit the form via Outlook using "Outlook.Application".

var objOutlook = new ActiveXObject( "Outlook.Application" );
var olMailItem;
var objOutlookMsg = objOutlook.CreateItem(olMailItem);

We are still using Office 2003 with SharePoint 2010. Anyone know if the above code doesnt work anymore in SP2010?

Thank you,

Problems converting VS 2003 project to VS 2008

I'm having problems converting a VS 2003 project to VS 2008 (tried 2005 as well, same problem). There are several problems;
a) I don't have VS 2003 installed.
b) The project is a web service, however I'm not sure what type of VS project it was created as.
c) The general knowledge about the project setup is..slim.

I get a error message using the conversion wizard, however, I'm not familiar with the tool and I cannot quite find any good information on Google for it, so I am left with a error message I do not understand.

Conversion Issues - myProject.csproj:
Unable to open the Web site 'C:\local\path\to\project\myProject.csproj'. The Web site 'C:\local\path\to\project\myProject.csproj' does not exist.

The web service is not intended to run on the dev machine, it is copied to a test or a prod server. However, I do not know how this was done previously. I'm thinking that in order to convert, it has to access the server on which it should run (which is set somehow in a config maybe). But that doesn't actually make any sence..

If anyone could shed light on this, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you.
