Will the "Collect Signatures" workflow on Sharepoint 2007 work with Word 2010?

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

Hi,

Can someone tell me if this is possible with these versions - I can't see anything for workflows on Word 2010. The Document has a signature line and is in a document library. I don't see Workflow in document item's menu option "Workflows"?

Thanks.

John.

Word 2010 crashes everytime I try to load a doc from SharePoint 2007.

Every time I try to load a doc from our sharepoint site, Word stops working and crashes.  I have repaired Office from Programs and Features, I have renamed the WWLIB.DLL as bad and then repairec again (It came back) and I can not find a dupolicate version of the owssupp.dll file.  In fact the only file in the Office 11 is the UCSribe.dll and it is not duplicated in the Office 14 folder.  The Event viewer gives this error Faulting application name: WINWORD.EXE, version: 14.0.4734.1000, time stamp: 0x4b58fb0e Faulting module name: wwlib.dll, version: 14.0.4734.1000, time stamp: 0x4b58fba1 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00612406 Faulting process id: 0xc98 Faulting application start time: 0x01cb5110726d8727 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\WINWORD.EXE Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\wwlib.dll Report Id: b4600a6b-bd03-11df-988f-463500000031   Does anybody have a solution for me? Receiving Error when Trying to Develop Sharepoint 2007 Workflow using VS 2010 Pro

I have created a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise (32 bit) SP2 image configured with Sharepoint 2007 Enterprise and a trial edition of Visual Studio 2010 Professional.  All software is fully patched.  When I try to create a new Sharepoint 2007 Sequential Workflow (.NET Framework 3.5) in either C# or VB, I receive a pop-up error: Exception of type 'System.PlatformNotSupportedException' was thrown. and, when I click OK and fill in the name of the workflow and a valid Sharepoint Web URL for testing, I receive the following error: SharePoint site location entered is not valid.  The SharePoint site at <removed> could not be found.  Verify that you have typed the URL correctly.  If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application. The URL in question references the default SharePoint site on this test server and does exist.  My assumption is that the second error received is a symptom of the first.  I have looked elsewhere and seen issues related to 64bit SharePoint implementations but, this is a 32 bit installation.  Based on the VS 2010 web site, I have met all of the prerequisites for developing SharePoint 2007 workflows through VS 2010 Pro.  Does anyone have any ideas on what I might be missing or what I need to

Long delay opening Word documents from SharePoint 2007 with Office 2010

The first time a document is opened it's fine, opens in just a few seconds.

Subsequently, there is a long delay (about 20 seconds) in the "Contacting server for information..." step.

This happens to all users and all documents, each one will open fast the first time then slowly the second and subsequent times (until, we think, the app pool is recycled - there is no schedules iisreset/reboot).

This does not happen when using Office 2007.

IE6 and 7 exhibit the same behaviour.

Sharepoint 2010 List data to Word Template via Workflow

Ok, I am using Sharepoint 2010 and Designer as well as Infopath 2010. I have a requirement to send out a word document (via workflow) that will be a template that references fields from my Sharepoint List.

Any help is appreciated, I do not want to buy anything extra and a no-code solution would be best.

Sharepoint Workflow (2007 or 2010)

Want to use SP designer to create a workflow that would have the following characteristics:

1) It would allow capturing the following events:

     (a) adding to/ creating a new document in a <<name/ namespace to be provided at runtime>> library

     (b) (i) modifying a <<name to be provided at runtime>> field in a <<name/ namespace to be provided at runtime>> library -- modified or not, i.e. boolean response

          (ii) new value of the field in (i) above

2) It would allow processing based on the response to (1) above, i.e. using conditionals

3) It would allow creating a WS (SOAP/REST/Atom) client

Will appreciate if someone could let me know how to create the workflow using SP designer/ Visio 2010.

Upgrade Sharepoint 2007 Custom State Machine/Sequential workflow to SharePoint 2010

Hello,

What's the path for upgrading the SharePoint 2007 Custom State Machine/Sequential workflow to SharePoint 2010 when the current SharePoint 2007 environment is upgraded to SharePoint 2010 by an inplace upgrade?

What's the typical estimate time for upgrading SP2007 custom workflow to SP2010 custom workflow?  My gut says 40 to 80 hrs or even less than that, what’s your thoughts?

FYI...I tried to upgrade the SharePoint custom workflow built using visual studio 2008 in SP2007 environment to visual studio 2010 solution/project in SP2010 environment, I got the error messages to refer the following dll's

Microsoft.SharePoint.dll and Microsoft.SharePoint.WorkflowActions.dll

Even after referring the new dlls still the workflow design doesn't show up in the canvas...still work on this to fix mean while want to know the experts insights on this.

How to make Custom SharePoint 2010 Webpart work on MOSS 2007 Environment

H

I've built a SharePoint WebPart in SharePoint 2010, using SharePoint Assembly version 14.0.0.0. Now i've to make this Webpart such that i should work on SharePoint 2010 and MOSS 2007. The version no for both the versions are different, so do i need to create separate web-part for both version or is there any other way?

My current webpart is built in env, which has

SharePoint 2010, Windows 7 64 Bit, VS 2010.

Reference is added to SharePoint DLL which is in 14 Hive ISAPI.

How can i make this generic, so that i should work on both version, i've not used anything specific which is only in SP2010, its just a simple webpart.

SharePoint 2010 Collect Signatures workflow - no digital signatures?

Hello, I configured a "Collect Signatures" workflow for the content type "Document", then uploaded a MS Word 2010 (.docx) document as content type "Document".  This Word document as 2 empty Signature Line in it.

I then start the workflow, basically 2-stage with 2 person from my Active Directory.  However, what I found is that when I go to my workflow task and click on the "This document requires your signature" link, it pops up a "Workflow Task" box in the browser.  There is a "Sign" button which I can click to sign but it does not sign on the signature lines inside my Word document.

What am I doing wrong here?  Or does SharePoint 2010 Collect Signatures workflow no longer work with digital sigantures?  Thanks.

Office Services: Merging Word Documents on the Server Side with SharePoint 2010

Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 include a new set of components called Application Services. These put a rich set of tools in a developer's bag for Office automation. We'll show you how to use Office OpenXML, Word Automation Services and SharePoint to build a simple application that merges separate status reports into a single document.

Trying to send email using Sharepoint Designer 2007 workflow and email enabled list

I have a a list that recieves email. I have few fields that shows me the originator: "E-Mail From" and "E-Mail Sender".

I am trying to create a workflow that will generate an auto reply to the originator but the SPD fails to recognize the email address in these two fields. It's either truncating part of it or uses the html ( href=mailto:Demo@DemoSomething.com) in the To field.

Thank you,
Tzach.

SharePoint 2010 Long Starting if start workflow programatically

In SharePoint 2010, I'm starting workflow #2 programatically from my workflow #1. See code below:

					SPList currentList = web.Lists[new Guid(ListId)];
					SPListItem currentListItem = currentList.GetItemById(ListItem);

					//resolve any lookup parameters
					string workflowId = base.ProcessStringField(WorkflowIdentifier);

					//find workflow association by name
					SPWorkflowAssociation workflowAssoc = currentList.WorkflowAssociations.GetAssociationByName(workflowId, Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture);

					if (workflowAssoc != null)
					{
						//start the workflow
						SPWorkflow workflow = site.WorkflowManager.StartWorkflow(currentListItem, workflowAssoc, workflowAssoc.AssociationData, SPWorkflowRunOptions.Synchronous);
					}

And workflow #2  will hang with Starting status (1-10 minutes), Then the workflow #2 status would be modified  to Completed.

I couldn't find how to start the workflow # 2 immediately and complete immediately without several minutes delay

Sharepoint 2007 and Excel 2010 features

Does Sharepoint 2007 Server support the new Excel 2010 feaures like slicers? Or do i have to have Sharepoint 2010 to get that working (considering all other components besides Sharepoint 2010 are available in my Sharepoint 2007 environment) ?

- Thanks

How to use display Text in Hyperlink For SharePoint 2010 Designer Workflow

In SharePoint 2007 Designer, I have used the Hyperlink column to store the link "http://www.sharepoint.com/Default.aspx, Details". The details text will be shown in the Hyperlink column. Everything works fine in sharepoint 2007 Designer workflow.

In SharePoint Designer 2010 Workflow, I used the same method but the hyperlink column is displaying the full text "http://www.sharepoint.com/Default.aspx, Details" instead of only Details

Developing with SharePoint 2010 Word Automation Services

Using the Open XML SDK 2.0 in combination with Word Automation Services enables many scenarios that are difficult when using only the Open XML SDK 2.0, such as repagination, conversion to other document formats, or updating dynamic content in documents.
