Can you add a Yes/No value to a scope rule

I have a managed property tied to a Yes/No field in my site. When I try to add a rule to my search scope "MyProp" = True (also tried, 1, yes, etc) it yields an error as if it doesn't like the format. How can you add a yes/no value to a scope?

Error: "The search service is currently offline." when adding a rule to a site search scope


We have a portal on our SharePoint farm in which the users want to create a new search scope for that portal only (rather than me creating a global search scope). We are able to create the scope without problem, however when we click "add rules" I get the error message: "The search service is currently offline."

This isn't true though as the search server/indexer is fine and online. We are having problems with our logs so theres no way to troubleshoot this, but I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into the issue.



'Model' cannot be declared in this scope

Mysite Search Scope

I have four search scopes in the Shared services SSP. But in sharepoint 2007 mysite i see only All sites and People search scopes in the dropdown by default. I want to enable other two search scopes for all Mysites. I know how to enable search scopes individually but i would like enable search scope globally for all Mysites in my sharepoint webapplication.

Please suggest.


FAST Search for SP2010 scope setting works but not getting results.



I am trying this from last two days , but it does not work. I have created two scopes for FAST Search Query SSA , they appear in search center , but I am not getting any results back. I see them being fired in the FAST query log.

First one is a simple one:

New-SPEnterpriseSearchQueryScope -SearchApplication "FAST Query SSA" -Name DCO -Description "All DCO Documents" -DisplayInAdminUI 1 -ExtendedSearchFilter "ContentSource:DCO"

Content source is a managed property. and i can just query "contentsource:dco" from the text box which gives me results.

When I fire the query i see it in FAST Search query log

Top-Level Search Scope not showing in Sub-Site


I've got a site 'B' created under site 'A' in SharePoint. When I'm at Site A, I can search and find things that exist in both A&B. However, when I'm in B, the 'highest' search scope I can pick is 'B.' I'd like to be able to select one step higher so that I can search A&B from any page. Is this possible?

Items count in scope "not available" in on WFE while it is correct in another WFE

Recently, we added a new WFE in the farm to do load balance. After installation, the search is not working occassionally(almost 50%). It apparently hits the new server. The error message:
Your search cannot be completed because of a service error. Try your search again or contact your administrator for more information.

I checked the Items count on view scopes. It is correct on old WFE, while it is "not available" on new WFE.
 In the Office Sharepoint Server Search Seveice seeting, I checked "Use this server for indexing content" and "use this server for serving search queries". I had ever tried to uncheck ""use this server for serving search queries". It is not working, either.

Any suggestion?

How to set rule only on form validation success InfoPath 2007



I'm a newbie to InfoPath 2007. I am creating a from without code. Is there a way to set a Rule to the Submit Button which will be triggered only in the case of Form validation success ? can we make use of the "Set condition" to setup a expression  in the Rule, for this purpose. Still i have no idea how to come up with an expression for such purpose. Can someone please explain.

Can't find AD security group while creating Audience rule


Hi guys,

I'm trying to create audience rule : all members of AD group. But when I try to choose a security group I need I can't find in search window. Though I see another groups. So in a whole the problem is I can't see all the AD groups but only some of them. It doesn't depends on on its type (global or local domain).

What could be a reason?

Search Scope Issue



I have 8 web applications containing different sites. One of the web applications is hosting a site called pmsportal.

Currently search results display files from all sites and from all web applications having matching results. That is like google!!! Sweet!!! BUT its over-performing! The owners of the pmsportal want search results to display only results from within their site ONLY...how do I do that? In the SSP Search Settings I have only two(2) Content Sources defined

(1) Local Office SharePoint Server sites

(2) PeopleSoft_Data

Someone please help.

SQL Server Express 2008 Setup fails. Support Rule "Restart Computer" Failed

Hi, I have been trying to install SQL Server Express for most of the day now without any luck.  Whatever I do setup fails at the stage of Setup Support Rules, Rule "Restart Computer" - Failed.  Needles to say I have restarted (several times!) and I have tried downloading  and installing the "Advanced", "Tools" and "Basic" versions, all give the same error.  Trying a repair does the same.  I have been searching the net for an answer without success, any help would be MUCH appreciated. Further info: I am trying to install a stand-alone installation on to a single PC running under XP SP 3 with .NET 3.5 SP1 installed.  The PC did have some earler versions of SQL server installed but I (?hopefully?) removed all of these through Control Panel.  Before trying the first SQL install I installed Windows installer 4.5 and PowerShell 1.0 as per the Microsoft Instructions. Running SQL Server Configuration Manager results in an error (MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap in might not have been installed correctly).  A directory structure for SQL server exists in "Program Files".  Services MSC shows SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) as Automatic Statup (not running).  Trying to start this manually gives error 14001: "application configuration incorrect - re-install to fix" .......... Which is precisely what I'm trying to do.........:(

SQL Server 2008 Install failure - Reporting Services Rule Failures

I'm installing SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7.  I'm going through the install and on the "Installation Rules" page I have two failures: Reporting Services Catalog Database File Existance Reporting Services Catalog Temporary Database File Existance Clicking on each of the failures they both say that each file exists "Select a reporting services file-only mode installation" Clicking the "Help" button tells me to "Rename, move, or delete the files" This is the only information I can find on this exact failure.  I'm not technical enough to know exactly where these files are or what they are named.  I cannot proceed any further without correcting this issue.  I'll include some of the shorter summary log files.  I can include other detail log files if that would help. Hi, I create workflow and rule base condition for that ".rule file"  . But now i have to change rule condition . when i change the condition then it return error can't  validate because of it refer previous values.   Any one can tell how change rule base conditions in workflow.

Instance scope for WorkflowApplication and extensions

Hi guys,   The documentation isn't quite clear on the instance scope of WorkflowApplication and related extensions. As far as I can tell, a WorkflowApplication can only be used to run a workflow once. It can't be reused to run the workflow any subsequent times. If this is the case, any extensions used in the WorkflowApplication instance are then scoped to that run of the workflow. Is this correct? Cheers

 I need to get the identity (scope_identity) value of the newly inserted record.
