Event ID 2424 and 2436

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

Hi Everyone, having an issue and hoping to get this resolved.

This is our setup:

MOSS 2007 SP2 farm has 1 Web server (Win 2008 32bit) and 1 SQL 2005 server (Win 2003 64bit).

Original issue:

We noticed an issue where some task list notifications were showing links to our internal url (http://portal.domain.corp) instead our external url (https://portal.domain.com).  After searching many forums, we changed Public Zone URL (Default) from http://portal.domain.corp to http://portal.domain.com.

Here's how it's setup now:
Alternate Access Mapping Collection: for portal.domain.corp

Default: http://portal.domain.com
Internet: https://portal.domain.com

Current issue:

The change above fixed the task list notifications and all links now point to the correct external link.  The problem now is that we are getting the following errors in the web server:

Windows Sharepoint Services 3 search not working getting event ids 2424 and 2436.

I can login with the accounts for content and the search service on the local server.

I have the loopback reg fix.

But the crawler will not crawl.

I have deleted all search databases in sql and it I have created one from scratch and setup different accounts for the content and search service.

I downloaded and installed windows sharepoint services 3 with service pack 2 on another server and when I used the same accounts that I had on the non working sharepoint install the search worked.

Windows Sharepoint Services 3 search not working getting event ids 2424 and 2436

This the default install running on Windows 2008 64 bit.

Our content database is located on the d drive and the Sharepoint services 3 install located on the c drive.

We constantly get event ids 2424 and 2436 when the index tries to run. Which is every five minutes.

I have the loopback fix in place.

This was working fine and then it stopped working. When doing a search on sharepoint we were able to pull up some data but not the newest data.

I  deleted the search database and created a new one with a new name.

I also downloaded and installed a new install of sharepoing services 3 and used the same domain accounts for the search service and the content and the index worked when I uploaded something. I was able to do a search.

I tried running a repair on the sharepoint services 3 install and it didn't work.

I hope it is not necessary to re-install everything from scratch.

Not exactly sure why I don't get id 2424 anymore but it is not there.

event ids are listed below

Log Name:      Application
Source:        Windows SharePoint Services 3 Search
Date:          11/16/2010 11:45:02 AM
Event ID:      2436
Task Category: Gathe

2436 warning followed by 2424 error

We keep getting these two events EVERY 5 minutes in same order. Also we're experiencing slow response meaning that loading page from sharepoint sometimes just hangs for a while before even starts loading page to browser. Can this hanging be somehow related to these logs?

Notice that srv02:3812 is a Central Admin IIS web site ??  Config  db is on ms##ssee and content is on sql express.

I know about 2424 search service built in account issue and service is running under server admin account.

Any help would be appreciated.

Windows SharePoint Services 3 Search Event ID 2424

This error started on 29 April and I cannot get rid of it...  My search works fine, both site and people.  AD profile import works fine.  Full and incremantal crawls work as scheduled.  Just that this error keeps showing up every five minutes in one of two WFE's.  The other WFE does not receive this error

I have verified all Security Configuration/Service Accounts, verified all Services on Server/Search accounts, Stopped/Restarted all search, and verified SSP accounts.  The last thing I did was verify there was an indexer attached to the SSP...

I set the diagnostic logging to verbose and the only thing that stood out around the time of the error was

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Invalid object name 'AR_CacheCounters'.

SqlError: 'Invalid object name 'AR_CacheCounters'.'    Source: '.Net SqlClient Data Provider' Number: 208 State: 1 Class: 16 Procedure: 'proc_ar_GetCacheInvalidationCountersWithCount' LineNumber: 3 Server: 'SERVER'

Any suggestions?

Event 2436 - old application server cannote be crawled

DISCLAIMER:  I'm not a sharepoint admin...I inherited this after the former admin left...so be gentle. BACKGROUND:  We replaced at some point the original "application server" with a new one.  The old was called "fwmspapp" and the new is "fwmspapl"   I'm getting the following errors in the event logs on the new application server: Event Type: Warning Event Source: Windows SharePoint Services 3 Search Event Category: Gatherer Event ID: 2436 Date: 8/30/2010 Time: 9:50:03 AM User: N/A Computer: FWMSPAPL Description: The start address <sts3://fwmspapp:8270/contentdbid={083c7ae0-bc68-405e-a5e8-12eae72f1718}> cannot be crawled. Crawl events 2424 and 2436 in WSS 3.0

I'm receiving event 2436: The start address <sts3://mytfsserver:17012/contentdbid={a347226b-0419-454e-a5a8-dbafe37bce87}> cannot be crawled. (0x80042616) followed by event 2424: The update cannot be started because the content sources cannot be accessed. Fix the errors and try the update again. Context: Application 'Search', Catalog 'index file on the search server Search' I'm familiar with http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861 but that doesn't seem to solve the problem.   Server is Windows 2008R2 x64.  I've seen other similar questions posted but most are access denied errors rather than Site Data Web Service (0x80042616) errors. Does anyone know how to solve this? Thanks.

how to impose javascript event processing?

If I have some form control like textbox and I want the event handler to be located in the html instead of at the server side, how to do that? Of course I can copy paste javascript code in the aspx file. But is it possible to do that using some object oriented approach (ie programmatically in the code behind)?

Dropdown Event (Template Field)

I have grid view control that includes a dropdown control in a template field.

I wish to execute some code when the value is changed in the dropdown list.  Can't figure out how to capture this event though?

Any suggestions?

Event ID 1011 - DefaultAppPool World Wid Web Pub. Serv. fatal communication error

We have a Windows 2003 server running IIS6 1.1 Framework. We have also installed a DNS and Active Directory in the same machine.

We're randomly getting the error you can see below. Sometimes it causes the recycling of process w3wp.exe (which on my understanding represents the application pool worker processd) and other times results on this process hanging and not responding to any request. To do iisrest temporarly solves the problem.

We were pointed to a possible permissions problem between the user we were runnig the DefaultAppPool with and registry entries used by the iis. We noticed the default predifined user we used, Network Service, wasn't found in the Active Directory, so we changed it by the default configurable user, IWAM_MACHINE_NAME, which is under the IIS_WPG Active Directory Grupo, which, in theory has the correct permissions to run the application pool.

Well, none of this worked and we are still getting this error.

This is driving us crazy and think the problem might have to do with having the Domain Controller/Active Directory and the IIS6 running on the same machine. We'll try now uninstalling this DC pointing to another one to see what happens.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Event not raised while parsing xml file

In Visual Studio 2010 ASP.NET 4.0

I want to write a procedure to validate a xml file with a xsd. I found some examples on the web but the one i chose does not work as attended. The example uses XmlReader with a XmlReaderSettings and a ValidationEventHandler.

Here is the code

Protected Sub VerifyDes(ByVal filename As String)

        Dim xslDes As XmlReaderSettings = New XmlReaderSettings()
        xslDes.Schemas.Add("", "http://www.mysite.com/xsd/ValidData.xml")
        xslDes.ValidationType = ValidationType.Schema
        xslDes.ValidationFlags = XmlSchemaValidationFlags.ReportValidationWarnings

        AddHandler xslDes.ValidationEventHandler, AddressOf xslDesValidationEventHandler

        Dim des As XmlReader = XmlReader.Create(filename, xslDes)

        While (des.Read())

        End While

    End Sub

    Protected Sub xslDesValidationEventHandler(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As ValidationEventArgs)

        'some code here
    End Sub

I tested this procedure with a xml file which was well formed but contained some elements which were not conform to the xsd.

No event or error occured. It said the file was valid.

Then i tested with a badly formed file. A XmlException was raised but nothing happened with the ValidationEventHandler.

It seems lik

How to set up microsoft application blocks 4.0 to talk to event viewer

I need to set up the microsoft application blocks 4.0 on the server and connect it to my web project.  I need to set it up so that all the errors are logged in the event viewer.  So far I have found out how to set up a flat file listener and send the error to a log file but, not to the event viewer.  Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Composite control: How to bubble a textbox's TextChanged event?

    I've created a composite control that contains several controls, including a textbox. I'm trying to expose the TextChanged event of the textbox as an event on the composite control. I understand that events can be bubbled up the control hierarchy and handled at a higher level, which I've attempted to do, but I can't get the bubbled event to fire. When I drop the control on an aspx I can see the TextChanged event, I can subscribe to the event, but nothing ever happens. Any suggestions? Here is what I think is the relevant code:

    // My event
    private static readonly object EventTextChanged = new object();

    //Handle the bubbled event
    EventHandler textChangedHandler = (EventHandler)Events[EventTextChanged];
    protected override bool OnBubbleEvent(object source, EventArgs e)
        bool handled = false;

    Creating Event Handler in Code behind

    Hi, so I have a control that is created in the code behind and generates fine but I can't figure out how to create an event handler for it.  I've found plenty of examples for it in C sharp, but none of them seem to apply to VB.  What I want to do is essentially this:

    myDropDownList.SelectedIndexChanged = "Event to do here"

    but it doesn't seem to work for me.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.
