3rd party cookies, proxies, and you.

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have an intranet site that is used to pull several other intranet applications/tools and database info to one place. One of the most popular features uses iFrames and jQuery tabs to give a broad overview of activities, signal etc in a network node.  Chrome and Firefox eat it up with no problems, IE will work if you override the cookie policies that restrict 3rd party cookies without a valid p3p (what a worthless standard).  IE also works if you already authenticated yourself on the individual sites and the session cookies are still valid. It's gaining popularity outside the original small intended audience, and I can't expect everyone to override their privacy settings or expect IT to push the sites out to exception lists on all PCs in the company. Before someone chimes in with "just add protected void Application_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e) { HttpContext.Current.Response.AppendHeader("p3p", "CP=\"IDC DSP COR ADM DEVi TAIi PSA PSD IVAi IVDi CONi HIS OUR IND CNT\""); } to your global .asax", I have ZERO control of the child site., so regular 'ol p3p settings ain't gonna cut it.After wasting over two days with it and getting behind on more important matters, I figure my options at this point areSomehow inject p3p into the header of the child site just before iFrame renders. Intermittant error: "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respon

Greetings,

I'm having a doozy of a problem, and can't find a solution.  I have a WFC Web Service installed to a pair of servers, and accessed through a load balancer.  I am accessing the service from an ASP.NET client app, also via WCF.  The Client is not load balanced.

I'm getting an intermittant error:

(Inner Most Exception) System.Net.Sockets.SocketException:  A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond x.x.x.x:80

(Middle Exception) System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server

(Outer Exception) System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException:  Could not connect to http://<MYSite>/<MYApp>/<MYService>.svc. TCP error code 10060: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond x.x.x.x:80.

I can reproduce this error with about 20% reliability if I execute the exact same page request on the client from 2 browsers at the same time.  When the problem occurs, the successful p

Flash player doesn't send cookies while requesting an aspx page

Hi.

I'm developing a web-site, that uses SWFUpload for multiple files upload to the server. Page, that uploades files, is accessable only to registered user. Authentication is done via web-forms (authentication mode="Forms" in Web.config). Flash uploades files to special web page - upload.aspx. In IE everything works great, but Flash player in non-IE browser (in Firefox, for example) does not send any cookies to upload.aspx. Because of it no sesion and no authentication information is available in this page.

I can pass all the information, necessary for uploading, in GET-parameters, which upload.aspx recieve. But this is a serious security hole and I don't want to expose session information. I can pass session identifier in GET-request. But the question is the following: how can I restore session information from the session identifier? How can I make HttpContext.Current.User point to currently logged in user in this case?

Any help will be appreciated.

need help about HttpWebRequest : A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not pro

Hiiii

I am creating an application for bulk mailing. Its on my subdomain.

The functionality i require here is I need to copy an html file located in different subdomains on my production server to my bulk mailing application.

I am using HttpWebRequest for the purpose where I take the url of the page into a text box and create a HttpWebrRequest.

The code is as simple as follows.

HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest) WebRequest.Create("http://mydomainorsubdomain.com/dir1/page.html");

and this is working fine on my local development environment that is in VS2010

but when i put code to production server it is throwing following error.

2010-08-25 15:21:00,845 ERROR Error caught : the details of the error are System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 124.153.93.54:80

Where are cookies stored for Forms Authentication when debugging asp.net from VS and the asp.net dev

Hey all!   When I have my app-deployed on a server and login with forms authentication I see my cookie get's created in   C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\CookiesAnd it works great and everything! But when I run my application locally with the asp.net development server while debugging from Visual Studio, I NEVER see a cookie file get created in that location.   I'm using the same PC and the same version of internet explorer 8 on the production as I am development so I'm not sure what's going on here.   Does anyone know where cookies get stored when hitting http://localhost:<devport> ?
