Record Center Document Permission

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

I was wondering how the MOSS Record Center permission works. Let say for instance base on a policy you route a documents from a Doc Library A to a Record Center Doc Library B. Let say user and document owner on Doc Librabry A wants to have access to his/her document, would he/she be able to access the doc with setting new permissions. I n other words, does Record Center keeps the item level permission from its origin.

Thank you

Search does not find text in Word document stored in document library on a Report Center site within

We have a document library on a site created off of the Report Center site template. We uploaded a Word 2007 document with the word zebra in the text. Using the search bar at the top of the page we selected This list: Our document library and searched for zebra. We received no results.

We tested the same thing on another site (site template Team site) within the same site collection and search worked fine.

Does the Report Center search function differently then the search functionality on the Team site?

Record Center and content type of the incoming documents

Hello all

I have same content types in both collboration site and record center sites.

When I used Send To command to send a document from collaboration area to record center, all the properties and metadata are promoted to columns in the Record center library. But the Content type of the document in record center is set to "Document" even though the incoming document's metadata has Content type value. Will all the records end up as Document content type if we are using default router?

Uploading documents directly to record center libraries in MOSS

Hello all,

We have several pdf documents that are records and we want to maintain them in record center. These documents were not part of any collaboration sites. They are all in a shared folder. So there is no audit history and version history for these documents which is typical of any collaboration area documents.

The question I have is, will there be any disadvantages of directly uploading the document to record center library instead of setting up routing rules and submitting the document using OfficialFile.asmx.

I have noticed that when we submit a document using Send To, Record Center's default router renames the file and makes it a unique file name by appending _uniqueId. In my case, all the files are uniquely named and I am not worried about file name clashes.

Is it advisable to directly upload the documents to record cente

SharePoint 2007 uploading document limitation <=6 record ??

Dear Expert, I've 1 project of sharepoint which is involved a scanning solution + sharepoint (document library) People will scan a set of invoice thru scanning device and then export to sharepoint (document library) as a PDF file. 1 invoice may have many sheet, but our scanning solution will group it into 1 and save as 1 pdf. After upload to sharepoint (document library) my Workflow will start to running and routing for approval But if they upload more than 6 invoice then the 7th invoice will get a error on WF to start (intermittent case).  Isit sharepoint have a limitation number of uploading??

Or is my installation somehow corrupted?And what is this web part and how can I register it as safe?

E-Mailing Attachments from the Document Center

Good Morning, All. We have implemented a Document Center Site in MOSS 2007.  We have created 5 custom columns of metadata, and as seems to be recommended by many, many experts, we are not creating any folders within the document library.  We've migrated about 1,500 documents to the Document Center so far, and our goal is that eventually, any document that is shared between multiple teams will wind up here. The column filters and views work great for narrowing the list to manageable sets of documents, and the Search Center Site is fantastic for quickly locating documents that we can't seem to find via filters and views.  ...all good so far, right? The major challenge occurs when we are attempting to supply customers with one or more documents from the Document Center via an e-mail attachment.  The filters, views, and search feature are obviously unavailable within the "Insert File" dialog box in Microsoft Outlook, so we are forced to search manually through 1,500 documents to find what we are looking for. An alternative is to locate the desired document via the filters/views/search in SharePoint, right-click and "Copy Shortcut" and paste the path into the "Insert File" dialog box.  However, this method becomes unreasonable as soon as we need to attach more than one document to an e-mail message (especially

Opening pdf from Sharepoint 2010 Document Center

Is there a way to open a PDF in a web browser, just like Office Web Apps?  Everything I've tried results in the PDF being saved first.  I do not want to save these files, I only want to view them.

Sharepoint Server 2007 Document Library permission question

Is there a way to set permissions on document library where HR can see all documents but employees can only see the documents that they uploaded?

I am trying to configure permission level but can't find anything that will solve the purpose.

Problem when creating a Record Center in SharePoint 2010

Hi Guys

I have a problem when creating a Record Center in SharePoint 2010 on a publishing Portal. The Record center creates succesfully, but when I try to upload a record sharepoint says that the list does not exist, also when I try to go into the site settings of the record center I get the same issue. When trying to specify the libraries in the record centre management page....same thing! What could this be?

How can I send a document from one folder to another folder in the same document library in a Record

How can I send a document from one folder to another folder in the same document library in a Records Centre?

Document Center capacity

What is the capacity of a document center template? We need to plan a document management solution and migrate documents from a few sites in previous version. It is ok from a functional point of view to set a unified site collection to manage most of the documents. the question is whether this site template may support that storage or may support managing the documents in some content_db (which as far as i know can be done only on a site collection basis)

SharePoint 2010 Document Center and Search Errors

I have created a new site collection based on the Document Center template and it was created properly. However, im getting couple of errors , such as:

Error 1: When I click on the Document ID settings (Site Settings--> Site Actions--> Site Collection Administration--> Document ID Settings) I get the following error msg:  An unxpected error has occured.

Error 2: After uploading a document into the Document Center, trying to search for that documnent (by the Document ID) using the search at the root site of the document center, I get the following error msg:

Could not look up Docment ID "xxxxxxxxxx" due to an error encountered in Microsoft Search Server,

Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.

I have check all the services required for the Document Center including the Search Service and everything seems to be working properly.

I also traced the error (Error 2)exc in the logs through the Correlation ID, and this was the exception (Level: High):

SearchServiceApplicationProxy::Execute--Error occured: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[System.ServiceModel.ExceptionDetail]: Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component. (Fault Detail is equal to An ExceptionDetail, likel

Within SharePoint 2007, can one send a document to a 2010 Records Center?

I have a working 2010 Records Center with a good Send To connection within the 2010 SharePoint environment.

I have copied the 2010 Send To URL (http://hostname/records/_vti_bin/OfficialFile.asmx) and created a Send To connection within the 2007 environment.

When I use the Send To in 2007, 2007 tells me that it cannot find or access the 2010 Records Center.

Adjust document permission based on custom property-field (owner person or group)

I would like to setup a workflow so everytime a user adds a new document to a document library the workflow adjusts the documents permissions.

I've added a new field to the document library settings which I called "Owner". This field searches persons or groups in the active directory. The person of group that I fill in here has to get contribute-permissions for this document. This process needs to be automatic so I think I have to build a workflow.

Who has got experience with this? Who can help me? Can I do this with the Sharepoint Designer?

The system we use is a sharepoint server WSS3.0

Access permission problem when verifying xml document, CspParameters ?

I have used the the CspParameters obeject and set the container name. Im then putting it into an RSACryptoServiceProvider object and then calling:

isVerified = signedXml.CheckSignature(rsaKey);

The full code is

      bool isVerified = false;

        CspParameters cspParams = new CspParameters();
        cspParams.KeyContainerName = containerName;

Error when adding a record routing to the record routing list in the Records Center

When I try to add a record routing I get this error:

  • "The Records Center Web Service Submitters group could not be added to the location you specified. You might not have the necessary permission to perform this operation."

Does anyone know why?

Does anyone know what to change?

I am a site collection admin. I am a local admin on the server. I am a site admin for RC. The application pool identity accounts have been added to the Records Center Web Service group!
