Authentication Popup while Accessing office documents

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

We are facing one issue with the internet facing MOSS site. It has anonymous authentication for root site collection and rest site collections are with their own security model. We have some document libraries in site collection having security integrated with AD. When any logged in user clicks on any of the office document from library, user gets authentication popup. He has to provide credentials again to open that library even though he is logged in to portal.

Is there any way to avoid this pop up?

Office XP: New Toolkit Lets You Share Information Between Office Documents and Web Services

The Office XP Web Services Toolkit makes it possible to build applications that gather information and trigger transactions through various Web Services. The toolkit allows you to easily discover Web Services remotely. It also includes the Web Service Reference Tool, which lets you call a Web Service from inside an Office application. This article shows how toolkit-generated code can be used to access simple, as well as complex, Web Services. The author steps through the auto-generated code to explain the classes that collect parameters, the schema to format the request/response, and the actual operations of the Web Service.

Working with In-Memory Open XML Documents (Office Talk Column)

Issues accessing saved documents in SharePoint

Hello, I believe there is an issue with a current document link in SharePoint.  When we click on the main Document Folder (labelled - Project Descriptions) we are typically provided access to a large list of subfolders and documents.  For some reason now, when we click on the main Document folder, a dialogue box opens up prompting me with the following language:

Do you want to open or save this file?

  • Name: Allitems.zip
  • Type: Compressed (zipped) Folder, 6.13KB
  • From: sharepoint.ambit-consulting.com

If you click "open", you're redirected to a blank page in SharePoint.  Our documents are no where to be found.  Please help.

Office 2010 will not open Office 2003 Documents on SharePoint

Going directly to a document in the document view and selecting any of them will present the Read Only/Edit prompt and when clicking Read Only Word or Excel 2010 depending on the document type will open to a blank page and just sit there. If you do a search and then click on the documents that are returned in the search results, it opens as expected.

Problem about opening Office documents in SPS2003

Hi, I have a problem about opening Office documents in SPS2003. The situation is as follows: I use the same NB in building A and building B. In building A everything is fine but in building B when I open Office documents(word, excel..) in my SPS2003 portal something happened. If documents don't need authorization these documents are opened quickly but documents that need authorization when I typed id and password documents are opened very slowly(about 5-10 minutes). So what is the reasom about this problem. Any suggestion? Thanks.

Office Web Apps: Disabling the feature and just normally download Office documents?

Apparently it's not a good idea to uninstall Office Web Apps, as it leaves the farm in an inconsistent state. (http://blogs.architectingconnectedsystems.com/blogs/cjg/archive/2010/04/30/Uninstalling-Office-Web-Apps-_2D00_-Be-Careful_2100_.aspx) Is there a way to disable Office Web Apps after it's been installed and activated? I tried disabling the service in the Site Collection Managed features, but when I click on a document it still opens in the Office Web Apps instead of downloading it to my computer.
