How can I have my program access another program that is running on the same computer?

We use 5 different applications at work. There is a lot of copying and pasting and going back and forth between applications. It can be very draining. The main program that I want to interface with is a ticketing application. It was not designed to be manipulated by another program, only a person. One way would be to write a program which moves the mouse around and types things into the fields and navigates between the different windows. But the problem with that is the user (me) would not have the screen/mouse/keyboard free while this was happening as the program would be using it. How would you go about just getting the data straight from memory? If that is not an option could I move the program off screen and manipulate it there? I don't know what language the program was written in. Maybe I could decompile it? Is there a good way to monitor the information it sends across the network? If so I could just have my program make the same requests and then completely bypass the current program.   Do you have any ideas?

Connect SQL Server 2005 to Ms Access on another computer

I'm trying to create a "Linked Server" on my SQL Server 2005.  This linked server is a reference to an Access File on a remote computer.  I've set up all the permissions and shared resources.  I've created an ODBC DSN to connect to the database.  If i open the DSN in excel, i can retrieve data.  If I open a linked server connected to the DB I get the following error when i try to run a query against it.   ------------------ OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "LS_Specialty" returned message "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed". OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "LS_Specialty" returned message "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed". OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "LS_Specialty" returned message "[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '(unknown)'.  It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.". Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "LS_Specialty". ---------------------   Why does this DSN work in Excel and Access, but not in SQL

Need the old "Browser" access in the new SharePoint Integrated with SSRS

0 down vote favorite Does anyone know of a way to add or remove items from the "Actions" menu within a report on SharePoint 2010 Integrated with SSRS 2008 R2? I would like to remove "Open with Report Builder" and add "Subscribe" to the Actions menu. I'm working with my SharePoint Server Admin who is at a loss also. I have found how to remove Report Builder from the server but the Admin doesn't want to do that since I am not his only customer. The "Subscribe" option seems to be driven from permissions but I'm not able to get it to show up for my read-only viewers. It shows up for me but I'm not going to give them admin rights. Basically, what I want is the "Browser" role from Report Manager: "May view folders, reports and subscribe to reports." They couldn't open in Report Builder. It seems so basic. I just want people to view reports and if they'd like, subscribe to them. Thank you

Remote access to SSAS (SQL Server 2008): problems with SQL Browser / UDP port 1434

Hello everyone,

since last Friday I'm fighting with an issue, which drives me crazy. I tried all the hints I found, but nothing worked. Now I address the community with a hope, that anyone can help me.

So, here is my situation: I have dedicated database server (server'S OS is Windows Server 2008, DBs are (1) SQL Server 2008 SE with all BI components, named instance and (2) SQL Server Express Edition, installed together with VS 2008), joined to our company's domain. My laptop is also in this domain. When I try to connect to the named instance of SSAS on that server from my laptop using SSMS or BIDS, connection fails. When I connect to SSAS on the server itself, it works.

What I did on Friday:

1) I opened all "SQL-server"-related ports in the server's firewall (including UDP port 1434 and TCP port 2382);

2) I tested UDP port with telnet (telnet <IP-address of the host> 1434) - ne response, neither localy nor remote;

3) portqry2 gives following output:
C:\PortQryV2>PortQry.exe -n <IP-address> -p UDP -e 1434

Querying target system called:

Attempting to resolve IP address to a name...

Failed to resolve IP address to name

UDP port 1434 (ms-sql-m service): LISTENING or FILTERED

Browser based InfoPath Form - fully trusted gives Access denied Error for few users

Unable to access SharePoint via VPN when using a home computer but ok when using work laptop

I have posted about this issue before regarding accessing SharePoint via VPN from a home computer and someone suggested that the issue might be with VPN or network. The strange thing is that I am able to access SharePoint via VPN from work laptop, but when I connect to VPN from my personal laptop and try to access SharePoint I get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage". Also, if I try to access the SharePoint site using the IP address of the server, I get a login windows and I login using domain\username and my password and I get page "Oops! Internet Explorer could not find ibsharept".

From my home laptop I am able to ping the server using the IP address but not using the server name, while from work laptop at home via VPN I am able to ping server using both IP and name.

I am the Admin and I am not able to figure out the problem. I am not sure if the issue with trust or network or something else since I am able to access it from work laptop when at home via VPN.

I really appreciate if someone can assist in this matter.

Installing 64 bit software application that uses 64bit MS access on a computer which contains Widows

We have an old software application that was primarily developed for 32 bit OS but based on the market requirement we have also ported it for 64bit OS. The application uses MS-Access as a database and the 64bit version of the software used the 64bit MS Access. The problem we are facing is with the installation of this application on Windows 7/Vista OS which has MS Office 32 bit intalled on it. The problem is as follows:

"When the applicaiton is installed on the above environment the installer says that the user needs to uninstall the 32bit version of MS-Office while as a user I expect that the application should not bother about the version of MS Office already installed on the system?.

"As a work around to this I have found that if we uninstall the 32 bit MS office, then install my application and finally re-install the 32bit MS office then there is no problem".

What component do I need to include in my installer package or what changes do I need to make in my code so that the problem does not exists and the user can install my 64bit application without uninstalling his 32bit MS Office. Any help on this would be highly appreciated.

We are using Ace Database Engine for 64 bit support in our application and to me it appears that it is the Ace Database Engine that ask to uninstall 32 bit MS Office. Is there any workaroun

MVC architecture in ASP.Net using C# and Microsoft Data Access Application block

The Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern separates the modeling of the domain, the presentation, and the actions based on user input into three separate classes [Burbeck92]:

Model. The model manages the behavior and data of the application domain, responds to requests for information about its state (usually from the view), and responds to instructions to change state (usually from the controller).

View. The view manages the display of information.

Controller. The controller interprets the mouse and keyboard inputs from the user, informing the model and/or the view to change as appropriate.

How to setup a Mobile Browser Emulator in Windows Mobile 6:

In the following tutorial, I cover the process of Setting up Windows Mobile 6 for Mobile Browser Emulation using the Microsoft Device Emulator. This enables a user to experience Windows Mobile 6 on a PC via Emulation without even owning a Windows Mobile 6 product. It can be a great way to test drive Windows Mobile 6 before purchasing a product with it installed. In our case, it allowed us to Emulate Windows Mobile Browsing so that we could optimize our sites for the Mobile viewing audience. Installation and Emulation is simple and fairly straight forward.

How to transfer files between computer and mobile device using bluetooth

What is Bluetooth? How can I have it on my computer?

Bluetooth wireless technology is a communication technology that allows two devices to communicate wirelessly. Most of the notebooks are nowadays equipped with bluetooth. For those notebooks or computers that don't, you can use a bluetooth dongle to add the functionality and it just costs you around $5. Although higher price range bluetooth dongles are available but it makes no sense of buying them if you just plan to connect your mobile device to the computer. Look for one that has Bluetooth v2.0 + EDR (Enhance Data Rate) supporting speeds of upto 3Mbps and with Vista support. You can easily have one of that kind in just $5.

Setting up bluetooth to work on your computer

Just Insert the bluetooth dongle in the USB.
It should get detected by your Operating System and should be ready to use. In case it is just detected as a new hardware, you need to install drivers for it that came with your bluetooth dongle (You can try Google to find the drivers).
Once drivers are installed, a bluetooth notification icon will appear in your system tray.
Right Click on it to access Settings (This may vary with your bluetooth dongle).
Make sure you have turned Discovery On (It allow others to see your computer).
Switch On the bluetooth on the mobile device.

*.axd script references not being rendered to browser

I'm running VS2010 with .net 4.0, and am running into issues with the .net ajax script tags mysteriously not being rendered to the browser.

So far I've reduced it to a scenario where I set the DataSourceID property of a databound control.  More specifically, I've only tested it on a Gridview and a DropDownList.

This can be reproduced fairly easily on my machine by following these steps:

1. Create a new empty Web Application Project

2. Create a new Web Form

3. Add a ScriptManager inside the form

4. Add a DropDownList and a DataSource (I used an ObjectDataSource)

5. Set the DataSourceID property of the DropDownList to the ID of the DataSource.  This can be done either declaratively on the .aspx page, or in the code behind in the aspx.cs page, and both produce the same results.

6. Open the page in a browser and watch as you get a javascript error stating "Sys is not defined" and notice that the page source contains no script tags referencing *.axd scripts.

Here's my source code showing my set up:

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="ScriptResourceFAIL.Default" %>
