Forefront Identity Management Service does not support workflows of type 'Microsoft.ResourceManagem

I have a client that has a Named instance of SQL Server 2008 R2, as this can cause issues with the User Profile Service I have deployed the June 2010 CU to this SharePoint Farm. Farm consists of 1 WFE, 1 App and a SQL 2008 R2 cluster. While applying the June I also went ahead and deployed the August 2010 CU. This is a new environment and is still in the design phase.

Well on to the problem.

After these CU's were added we were able to configure the Profile import and everything is importing as expected.

But now the Event logs (Windows Application) are throwing a Forefront Identity Manager Event ID 3, every min, these are coming in groups of 2 with the same ID but slightly different messages.

Message 1:

Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Workflow.Hosting.WorkflowManagerException: Forefront Identity Management Service does not support workflows of type 'Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Workflow.Activities.SequentialWorkflow, Microsoft.ResourceManagement, Version=4.0.2450.9, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35'.

Message 2:

Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Service: Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Workflow.Hosting.WorkflowManagerException: Forefront Identity Management Service does not support workflows of type 'Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Workflow.Activities.SequentialWorkflow, Microsoft.ResourceManagement, Version=4.0.

Garbage Collection-Part 2: Automatic Memory Management in the Microsoft .NET Framework

The first part of this two-part article explained how the garbage collection algorithm works, how resources can clean up properly when the garbage collector decides to free a resource's memory, and how to force an object to clean up when it is freed. The conclusion of this series explains strong and weak object references that help to manage memory for large objects, as well as object generations and how they improve performance. In addition, the use of methods and properties for controlling garbage collection, resources for monitoring collection performance, and garbage collection for multithreaded applications are covered.

Garbage Collection: Automatic Memory Management in the Microsoft .NET Framework

Garbage collection in the Microsoft .NET common language runtime environment completely absolves the developer from tracking memory usage and knowing when to free memory. However, you'll want to understand how it works. Part 1 of this two-part article on .NET garbage collection explains how resources are allocated and managed, then gives a detailed step-by-step description of how the garbage collection algorithm works. Also discussed are the way resources can clean up properly when the garbage collector decides to free a resource's memory and how to force an object to clean up when it is freed.

Everything worked fine, now I receive an error. •MOSS 2007 •SQL 2008 SP1 •MOPS 2007 SP2 I have done the additional installation for the cube building part according to this page http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd285466(office.12).aspx Microsoft SQL Server Native Client (sqlncli.msi) Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Objects Collection (sqlserver2005_xmo.msi) Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backwards Compatibility Components (SQLServer2005_BC.msi) Everything worked fine. Problem trying to attach database file to Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

I was trying to attach a database to SQL Server MGT Studio and got an exception error.  The message stated that the database file I was trying to attach could not be opened because it was version 661.  The SQL Server shows to support version 655 and earlier.  It states that a downgrade path is not supported. Question:  Is there some download ; fix; I can make to SQL Server 2008 that will allow me to attach the version 661????  I am not technical at all.  Please speak slowly.  :)  Thanks

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008 does not list all tables in database

When logging into SSMS 2008 to a SQL2008 database when I expand the tables in a database I only see a few tables listed.  I can login to the same instance with SSMS 2005 and all of the tables are there.  Is there a reason why this is this way?

I can do a select * from in a query window for any of the tables in the database via SSMS 2008 as well and it work fine.  It just does not display the tables.

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Question

I am new to writing stored proecedures and this will be my first stored procedure written with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.  I am familiar with working with VS 2010 and I have noticed that the IDE is very different.  So, let's start with the basics.  How do I go about adding a new stored procedure into the group of stores procedures that the project currently has.  I already know that name and the T-SQL code I need.  I just need to put it.

Microsoft.AnalysisServices Translations management from c#

Dear all,

I connect to an OLAP cube from .NET (v3.5, c#) using the objects located in the Microsoft.AnalysisServices namespace. I would like to dynamically manage my translations for dimensions, attributes, measures, measure groups.

A sample code for updating the translations of an attribute is the following:

foreach(DimensionAttribute attribute in dimension.Attributes){
 attribute.Translations.Add(1043, "Some Caption");

The above code however throws an InvalidOperationException "The item Translation is not valid" when trying to add.

Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?

Microsoft and Performance Management

I don't know if it is the right forum for my answer. Does anyone know the next step of Microsoft in the Performance Management market? I don't refer to the Microsoft BI solutions (dashboards, scorecards, KPIs) but to the planning, budgeting, forecasting, etc. capabilities.

Many thanks
