Building deployment package with web transforms

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 10, 2011    Points: 0   Category :Windows Application

Hi,

Is there a way we can build deployment packages with web transforms? I am having difficulty importing the connection string settings from web.config as I have that information in different web transforms and I'd like to create different packages for different environments.

Thanks for your help! Smile

SMTP not working if I use web deployment package to deploy my app.

Hi all

I use msdeploy to install my web app. deployment package. everything about web app works, but find out email was not working.

I checked telnet smtp is running.

I debug the project, and it was sending out email too.

So my solution was upload the whole project (not complied) to wwwroot, and email works too. Thats why I assume the deployment cause the problem.

at last, I also tried to copy the web deployment web.config to replace the project's web.config, and the email also work, so it wasn't the web.config problem.

Could anyone tell me whats going on?

My environment:

window 2003

iis 6

.net framework 4.0

How to run Package (for WSP) without Building First; or, how to Relocate a .wsp file after it is cre

I'm attempting to automatically move the .wsp package to a separate deployment folder (like you could with WSPBuilder) after it has been created.  I can't just do a copy after a successful build (in build events) because a normal build does not cause the .wsp to be built.  Also, I've tried calling MSBuild directly in the build events and used the /t:Package call, however this automatically includes a rebuild of the assemblies, so this does not work.  Is there a way to call the /t:Package command but exclude an assembly build?  Any other ways to move around the .wsp file? Thanks.

SharePoint Features Package Deployment

I am facing a problem in SharePoint Package deployment, kindly suggest your valuable  comments in resolving this problem. Scenario ======== I have a Sharepoint farm with two web applications (Web application1 & Web application2) and a WSP package (Package1). WSP Package : Package 1 (Eg :Build.wsp) Farm       - Web application1 (Eg: Sharepoint 5000)       - Web application2 (Eg: Sharepoint 6000) Description: The Package1 is not globally deployed , it is deployed only to Web application1. Problem:   In Webapplication2, I could able to see all the features deployed to Webapplication1 using Package1. How to resolve this problem? Please share your thoughts. Thanks Regards, Prabu

Error occurred in deployment step 'Retract Solution': The language-neutral solution package was no

I've got the same error as those who opened this thread, but I'm looking for the cause of this error rather than deleting the solution file from SP2010 Server over and over again.

I was developing and deploying with VS2010 and SP2010 Enterprise Edition just fine for over three month now and out of nothing this error pops up again and again for the same solution. I can't tell what I've changed or which software I might have installed in the meantime, so I can't give any hints what causes the errormessage. Which might be interesting: I installed my SP2010 Enterprise Edition in english and installed the german language pack afterwards. Kind regards, Andreas

SSIS After deployment of package

SSIS After deployment of package

After the deployment of ssis package in filesystem or in sql server.........how the clients can extract the package?

Building a query into a SSIS package

I have a simple package that imports data from an excel file to a 2008 R2 database.

here is a sample of the excel file

54            Siobhan Kennedy               Health

22            Peter OChahan                  Education

31            Ryan Harkins                     Finance

My table in the database looks like this:

CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Employee](

[EmployeeID] [int] NULL,

[FirstName] [nchar](50) NULL,

[LastName] [nchar](50) NULL,

[Department] [nchar](50) NULL)

I want to import the data into the database, splitting the name column into firstname and lastname using the SSIS package.

So far (on the data control tab) I have an 'Excel Source' Box and an 'OLE destination' Box.

I think i need to pick an option from the 'Data Flow Transformations' menu in the toolbox. Is this correct?

Thanks,

Zoe

Creating Deployment Package for RDL & Data Driven Subcription Setting

Hi,

I've created a ASP.Net web application which have reports. The reports using SSRS, rdl files and using report viewer control to show the report from our webpage.

I must deliver the application using Installer (Deployment Package), it is easy for ASP.NET to create deployment package.
But how about the Report Server Project (RDL), how I create the deployment package for that? and if I've data driven subscription setting for some reports, how can I include those too in my deployment package.

I don't want to deploy it manually one by one to Production Server.

Any advice?

PDC10: Building a Blog with Microsoft "Unnamed Package of Web Love"

I had a lovely time in Redmond this last week attending Microsoft's PDC (Professional Developer's Conference) 2010. I did lots of stuff, met lots of people, did hours of "Live TV" on Channel 9 Live and presented a talk on behalf of the Web Platform and Tools team (WPT is IIS, Media Streaming, ASP.NET, everything web, etc) showcasing all the cool stuff we've been doing lately. You can stream the talk with Silverlight Smooth Streaming as well as PIP (Picture in Picture) or you can download the talk in one of four formats. Note that for some weird reason there's 10 minutes of "we haven't started yet" dead video that you'll have to seek past. You should Right-Click Save As the video you want. Low Bandwidth...(read more)

Build Deployment Package Fails with new WebApp

So I have been trying to use the new Build Deployment Package feature in Visual Studio 2010 and even though my website compiles without any errors the Publish fails every time.  So I decided to just create a basic new WebApplication, not make any changes and see if I could publish it and it still fails.  Is there something in the setup I'm missing?

Building a Searchable Phone Directory with Windows SharePoint Services

I want to continue to build out the intranet site we've started in our previous articles. A standard item in every intranet is a staff/employee list. Most companies implementing Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) are large enough to have a database that contains all employees. We will use the aggregation features of SharePoint to include data from this database into our intranet.

Building a grouping Grid with GridView and ASP.NET AJAX toolkit CollapsiblePanel

I've posted an update to this post to apply on demand loading of Details data using ASP.NET AJAX PageMethods. I'm demonstrating the usage if CollapsiblePanelExtender client events on the new post. Check it out.

I admit, Matt Berseth is really inspiring me! Few days ago I pass through 2 of his great posts:

.Surrounding your Data Table and Dialog Controls with ComponentArt Styled Panels
.Building a Grouping Grid with the ASP.NET 3.5 LinqDataSource and ListView Controls
The first one is pure design tips one which I used for making good presentation of my demo here. The 2nd post is actually the idea.

Building Layered Web Applications with Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 - Part 1

"Building Layered Web Applications" that shows you how to build N-Layer applications with Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0. These articles teach you how to design, build and use custom business objects in your web application. The target audience for this series are developers that are ready to make the switch from using SqlDataSource controls to ObjectDataSource controls with custom business objects. Experience with ASP.NET 2 and C# is necessary while some knowledge about object oriented design certainly helps. The design I am going to show you in these articles is a simplified version of a design you would use in a real world application. It doesn't feature all the necessary functionality your application needs, but instead focuses on the underlying concepts.

Building a 3-Tier App with Silverlight 3, .NET RIA Services, and Azure Table Storage

Silverlight 3, .NET RIA Services, and Windows Azure Services Platform makes a 3-tier Cloud application easier to build: Silverlight 3 as presentation tier, .NET RIA services as the business logic and data access tier, and Windows Azure Table as the data storage tier. The sample application in this article demonstrates the architecture with a simple Survey application with all these technologies working together from Windows Azure.

Building a LINQ Provider

Throughout this article, we will build a simple IQueryable provider similar to the LINQ to SQL provider demonstrating what is needed to build a custom provider that is capable of executing LINQ queries and performing create, update and delete operations.

Building Re-Usable ASP.NET User Control and Page Libraries with VS 2008

I am having problems with a user control. I want my solution to have a separate project for holding my user controls.

The main project can get a reference to this user control project and can import this user control dll into my main project.

Thanks in advance,

Problems posting to a package

Hey Y'all

I'm currently creating a program that accesses a mysql package to add data to a few tables.  I'm currently getting an error that says  "

ORA-01403: no data found
ORA-06512: at "JESSE.PKG_WORKPLAN", line 42
ORA-06512: at "JESSE.PKG_WORKPLAN", line 177
ORA-06512: at line 1

"

These lines are

42: INSERT INTO WP_PROJECTS_USERS (PROJECT_USERS_ID, FIELD_UNIT_ID, PROJECT_ID, USER_ID, START_DATE, DESCRIPTION)

and 177:add_team_members(V_PROJECT_ID, V_START_DATE, v_FISC_YEAR, V_MEMBERS ,V_NUM_MEMBERS,'add');

Checking these variables in my asp.net page they are all receiving parameters.

Is there a  way to see what the database is actually receiving from the asp.net page?

Or is there another thing to be looking at?

Thanks!
